Funny in that I had the same conversation when I ordered my loaded limited...

Dealer kept trying to get me to bump up to an Overland until I pointed out that I can do without the puddle lights, seat/dash stitching, and auto dimming passenger mirror.

His line was that "Limiteds will be a dime a dozen, the Overland is more exclusive and will resale better.." I said I'd rather be less exclusive with $2300 more in my pocket, thank you very much.

I'm beginning to want to start punching people over all of this.

Ready for the chewy bit on this? After I reached out to the writer and editorial manager of the paper that printed that article, they pulled the articles down that referenced whatshisface the Jeep CEO saying they'd be in showrooms in May.

Soooooo.... read what you will into that.

When does the Grand Wagoneer come out? ....same time as the Grand Cherokee CRD right? Maybe I'll just wait till then.

Personally I think they are not going to offer a '14 CRD in the '13 calendar year. I think it's 50% marketing to get a lot of press about the truck early, and 50% avoiding having to support the power-train at the dealership service department level until closer to when the Ram 1500 will be out with this engine.

They just don't want to provide training and support at the dealership level yet.
My local dealers received training two weeks ago.

Maybe all these delays are the universe's way of telling my not to get the diesel right now. I've been getting cold feet lately thinking about Jeep not being ready for "prime time" servicing diesels on a big scale - heck they can't even launch the thing without falling all over themselves

Most people with the V6 are happy with power plus it will cost me a lot less upfront. Long term maintenance may be less on the gasser too. I drive close to 25k miles a year so long-term maintenance has to be a big factor for me as well as fuel economy. A couple of red flags on diesel maintenance for me were exclusion from max care extended warranty and someone posted possible about exclusions of all the diesel emissions stuff on extended warranty. Add in the relative newness of the engine and Jeep being unfamiliar with servicing diesels and it had me worried.

All of this stuff will eventually get worked out and Jeep will do fine with diesels but it might take a few years of growing pains. Maybe I'll be good for diesel version 2.0 someday

I thought about other manufacturers diesels but the price goes up quickly and maintenance on German cars is costly in the long term. I really just like the Jeep

Good luck to those still waiting, I'll be rooting for you!
Just did the same thing for the exact same reasons. Although I didn't need the diesel for towing I was looking forward to that extra torque.

Also the $500 cash bonus helped me decide on a V6 (jeep is probably trying to move us out of the diesel with all these coupons arriving).

I ordered a V6 Limited Max Steel, Blk interior with NAV, Adv Tech and Lux II. Dealt with Nader at Koons and things couldn't have gone smoother.

*BREAKING NEWS*

I hear Chrysler is working on a new GC EcoDiesel commercial featuring Jose Valverde, in which he drives a CRD out of town and never comes back!

Tagline: "I closed the deal on this baby!" (Yeah, ok. )

That's what I did after seeing all of the foulups by Jeep with the CRD rollout. Got a V6 Pentastar Overland (ORAII, ATG) from Koons at 6% off invoice. Very happy with the power and response with the 8-speed tranny for now.

Will probably take another look in about 3 years at diesel Jeeps (or the gaggle of new diesel SUVs that will be in play by then) if all of the bugs and support service doubts from Jeep are for sure worked out. By then the tranny might even be 9-speed. Else I'll get a MaxCare Lifetime warranty for the Overland gasser and drive it for a couple 100k miles.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Ok,

Can someone explain me this.... Why is it that CDJ says all marketing material will say "late availability" yet when I build one on Jeep.com It says there are 11 matching vehicles near me. (Sorry couldn't fit it all in one shot but it is all on the same page.... no disclaimers other than the MSRP pricing blurb.

Also it does not say "late availability" on the Diesel Line for options.

I guess the internet isn't marketing material any more?

This is sooooo stupid. I guess Jeep just doesn't care what it's customer's think.

If you click on the little information button on the diesel engine line when picking your options it does still say late availability.
