That seems to conflict with Willx's info:

I'm OK not having every move posted, but the vast majority of CRDs on MOTS lists movement between bays, ramps, and shuttles but mine has never had anything past the "Built - Pending Inspection: (I) 09/26/2013 01:26 AM EDT Detroit Jefferson Assembly, MI" line.

Nevermind.... as I was about to hit the post button, I noticed Milous (or one of his helpers) added "In Bay At Facility 10/06/2013 02:29 PM EDT Avi - Vls Charlevoix Yard, MI." Thanks! I'm glad I finally made it to a bay!

I was impressed with the extensive use of automation that keeps the line moving. But that automation means nothing if the parts are not staged timely and correctly. Marlon plays a big role in parts delivery to the line.

Keep in mind that the production line includes Grand Cherokees of every different trim level and engine choice as well as a few Durangos mixed in.

Seeing the process offers a deeper appreciation for what happens in mere hours in the life of our Grand Cherokees.

I also have a family friend that Owens a car hauling company. They have sold all their trucks and bought passenger vans. Due to the cost of maintaining them and paying a driver. It was cheaper to hire drivers and bus them around also the customer was happier because it was faster then loading and unloading the cars.
It is not even a legitimate debate whether or not cars are driven from here to New Boston. It absolutey does not happen. New Boston is a short stay site, and is really used only to group loads. It is NOT an extended storage facilty.

And with all due respect, your buddy needs to be careful. He's breaking A LOT of transport rules!

Re: 2014 diesel production

I think the most impressive thing in the plant is that both Durangos and Grand Cherokees are built there. You will see every mix and every color of both makes on the line. Might have a Silver Laredo, next is a Red Durango, Next is a Black SRT, next is a White Overland, Next is a silver Durango....... Very impressive that they are truly built one by one.

Re: 2014 diesel production

OK gang, after working in it for 2 nights of nonstop work (and an ignored upset wife), I have finally downloaded, filtered, edited, uploaded, and created a new thread that has the pictures of the Jeep plant tour. Hats off to the guys at JNAP for this awesome experience, and a special thanks to Chevy for the personal tour, and Vtail for the flight. The new thread in in the WK2 forum and is called "JNAP Plant Tour". Hope you enjoy

That is the thing that amazed me as well. Each engine, each car, each trim, each color, mixed one after another, rather than running all of one kind at a time. The workers have to pay attention to what they are building at that particular moment and make sure they take the right parts from the right bin and put them in the right place. It was also interesting to learn that Venezuela won't allow imported cars, so Jeep sells them the parts, kind of like a kit, and they are assembled by hand, one at a time. You could see the parts going to Venezuela sitting in special pink racks. The sheer size of the plant is overwhelming, and we didn't even get to see the whole thing.

For example, if your door got scratched in the yard, and had to go back to paint, imagine what you would think if you saw your vehicle back in paint, when in all reality, the repair would already be made, and your Jeep back in the lot before you you read you were in paint. (or needed a upgrade of some sort, or needed a new tire, or .........) Once it is listed in a lot, you will not see a change till it is released from the factory. Then Milous and Willx will tell you where you are every step of the way once on the train. Hang in there, they should be shipping soon. Remember, Jeep stands by October in showrooms, and the month is half over.
By the way, we saw the room that our unicorns had their "100% inspection". Only a small % go there, and are in and out the same day (within hours). I think we are being told this to make us feel that there is a reason for the delay, and to make us feel like our Jeeps will be perfect when we get them.
What he said.

FYI, there are over 60 distinct statuses from D to KZ at JNAP to allow production tracking for reporting purposes. Not all will be hit and once it hits JS, it stays there until repaired or released to KZ.

VOTS and the dealers get to see the high level statuses in a sanitized format. Marlon, Chevy, and those watching from afar get to see the down and dirty statuses (like "ED - WD Frame" or "EK - WK Frame").

I see Java had a lot of Ramp Compare's yesterday. First time in 2 weeks so that may signal things starting to gear up.
