Are these updates related to the potential tweaks needed for shipment?

Will the units at Charlevoix go through similar updates?

Comments?
I don't have any "inside" knowledge here, but I'm not sure I'd read much into that. I think the movement in/around Detroit Axle and Java is only related to the (presumed) updates insofar as they've had to shuffle things around to make room for all the vehicles that are stacking up. I don't think it's directly related to the (presumed) updates - it's only tangentially related insofar as they have to shuffle things around to accommodate the pileup.

And/or vtail's ride was buried deep in the middle of everything and they had to shuffle a whole pile of them so they could get it out for him.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I have a (somewhat rhetorical) question ... whenever anybody calls about their CRD, they're usually given the "100% inspection so we can be sure everything is perfect" speech.

Now we know that the majority of CRDs didn't actually go through 100% inspection. So what happens when someone finds a problem with a vehicle that supposedly went through "100% inspection"?

Kind of beating a dead horse here, but it just seems like a really bad idea for the customer service reps to be giving out that line when it's not really true. It seems like the potential for alienating/angering a customer is far higher than any potential "benefit" of trying to make the customer feel good about the delay.

Just some random, mostly-pointless musings ...

Any hold up beyond that is either due to a new glitch that has arose since Sunday, or due to a mass release. I am waiting just like the rest of you. Having seen them has made me realize that they are real. Jeep has millions of dollars in inventory just sitting there, and every day they are not released costs them. Hopefully soon....very very very soon

Not a Rhetorical question really, but with every fib there is often some truth. So without getting into to much detail on the specifics of why, I learned very recently they the do "constantly" do things with these vehicles. As periodically they do get moved and there is always people around, if something gets noted while it is on one of the lots, someone fixes it.

So let's say there were a few Jeep Grand Cherokees that maybe had a loose molding. Normally this doesn't crop up right away, and we have read the comments that dealers are not fantastic at being proactive fixing these things. Well if it were sitting in a JNAP yard, it gets fixed. This isn't damage this isn't anything problematic but the odd QC thing that may get fixed on the line can be addressed in the parking lot.

So I suppose if you wanted to stretch your imagination, they are in QC the entire time they are there, stretch a little more and you can call it 150% inspection. I know I am speaking a lot of maybes there but I have now heard specific examples.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Has anyone been able to order printed manuals yet, or do we need to take delivery before they will mail them?

I finally made it through the PDFs of the Owners Guide, Owners Manual, Diesel Supplement to the Owners Manual, and the UConnect Manual. Apparently, they will not automatically provide printed copies of the Owners Manual and UConnect guide. However, the Owners Guide lists a number were "Original Owners" can call and get printed copies. I am wondering if our VINs will be enough to order these now so that we have printed copies on hand when we do take delivery.

I'm curious about this too. The other yards seem to show movement, but mine hasn't moved since the day it was built. Did we get all the updates, and "fixes" on the same day as we were built? Or are we still waiting on those?

Just curious. I'm headed off the grid for the weekend, so there is sure to be lots of exciting news starting right now. I'll have fun catching up when I can. Fingers are crossed!

It may seem like I have left because I am being quiet; not the case. Just too busy. I am accumulating a zillion things about my new Jeep to talk about.

Re: 2014 diesel production

When are the 2014.75 Jeeps going to start building? I was wondering about Select Speed Control specifically. Will our Jeeps be updated to have this late availability option installed, or will Jeeps being built now have this feature, while ours in JS will not. Just curious.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Since I'm new to diesels that require DEF fill-ups I hadn't really thought about it much until now. I just completed a long trip with my brother-in-law where both of us were towing travel trailers. He was towing with a new Duramax p/u and I was towing with my old 2004 Duramax. Both he and I were surprised at how often he had to replenish his DEF during the trip. He commented on this to a Chev dealer and they told him "it's normal for the DEF consumption to go way up while towing." I wonder what kind of milage we'll get between refills when towing upwards of 7000lb?
