I'd argue those stooges should be last! They got a dream trip, got to tour the plant, and even see at least one of their vehicles. They've already been treated with super-VIP treatment! Why should they get even more VIP treatment?

And vtail ... hell he's got a freakin' plane to occupy him.

Hope you're not talking about Shannon. He should be first before anybody, with vtail right behind him (And I mean like RIGHT BEHIND HIM!!!!). I'm not sure about you, Brainstormer. I'm not sure if you were one of the first NAFTA builds!

I think mine was one of the first in what we now know as "JS" that is being tracked. It went though inspection to the yard on 9/6 at 6pm. Shannon's paint was still curing when they rolled mine by. His went to the yard 9/7

In case it wasn't obvious - my posts, and I'm assuming Brainstormer's too, were in jest (unless of course a sad story and some shipments of beverages would indeed move me to the head of the line, in which case i was totally serious! ).

I dunno, I think I'd need some liquid and/or chemical "enhancements" to stretch my imagination that far!
I agree. And I've never seen/heard of that policy.

Here's how 100% QC works:

Shift starts at 6. The 100% QC ppl come in and take a look at what's being built, and when the last cars were pulled for 100% inspection. Let's say, from the previous shift of course, the last car pulled was number 563. The inspection gets completed, if not already complete, and if everything is good, then it's returned to the storage outside of final assembly, and another car is pulled. Let's call that next car #12 from that shift. (Note: There are typically 5-6 cars in the QC room at any given time, and a few just outside the door waiting to go in. Or have come out already and haven't been taken back. The way you can tell is by the direction it is facing. If it's backed in, it's done. If it's facing the plant, it needs to come in. Simple enough. And there's a report with each completed car.. If you look in Shannon's pics, the black Eco Overland you see backed up to the gate is just outside the room, and is obviously complete. May belong to someone here.)

So, in inspecting #12, let's say that a molding or something (as suggested) isn't properly installed. Or is damaged. That will be looked at on the other cars currently in audit, and if they are all ok, then it's assumed that this is an isolated issue, and it is fixed (AND NOTED TO BE RELAYED BACK TO THE LINE). And if nothing else is found, it goes bye bye, and another is pulled by that tech. Which is hours later into the day.

Obviously each tech isn't pulling cars at the same time, bc that would kill the efficiency of the process. Bc if cars #12-17 were pulled, and there is an issue with say, car #70, and nobody pulled a car close to car 70, and the next car pulled is #200, then you could have quite a few cars rolling out with an issue getting missed! So the idea is to pull cars at set increments, maybe 50 cars from the last tech's pull, that way if you pull a car and find a big problem, you know how many cars may be affected. If the last car you pulled was good, and the techs who pulled after you had good cars, then you know the issue took place somewhere between that build, and the car last pulled. Everything built earlier that day isn't subject to it. Make sense?

Now - as I've said before, in a launch it's much stricter. And yes, MORE cars are pulled. And they aren't immediately returned to (plant) storage even when complete. And when something is found, more cars are pulled.

There's a lot more to it, but I'm getting lengthy here.

So are they lying? Not exactly. But to your point, yes, things still do happen. And it's fair to be pissed. But cars that actually did go to full audit, are labeled as such. Sometimes they embellish a bit. Bc though many of you guys' cars DID go there, I'm certain all of them didn't. But, like I said a couple weeks ago, many more cars (than usual) were looked at for something. That's all I can say about that.

The checks done outside by the shipping company's are strictly a CYA thing. They look at the cars, really just a quick once-over checklist deal, and document what they see for their own protection. But they don't work for Chrysler. Nor are they involved in the 100% process.

Lastly, theres ANOTHER QC program with limited access. This is a place where cars are intentionally disassembled and EVERY PART is checked for supplier quality. But that's a story for another day. I think Shannon's pics include one of the actual QC room with the hoist and lift inside, but I don't think he took any pics of the metrology lab. And I would've been a fool to let them in!

Hope this helps.

Basically every single person with a CRD that was built and called chrysler about the status of their vehicle was told that it was delayed because it was in 100% inspection even though they clearly were not in inspection and were just sitting in a lot. OK, it's not accurate to say every single person - what I mean is every person that has posted to JG about their phone calls has reported the same story (and I got the same thing, even though I "know" that my vehicle had already finished inspection and was just sitting in a lot).

Thanks for the awesome explanation! Is it possible to say anything more about how thorough the 100% inspection actually is? Or is that "trade secret" and/or something that can't be described without getting into trouble?

If I was comfortable sharing anything more, you guys know I would! I have no use for this info outside of sharing it with you all.. But if I tell you everything today, I will no longer be in the loop tomorrow.

However, what I will add is that I echo Shannon's assessment of the situation.
