Also good if when they bail they stay with Jeep for the gas engine instead of across the pond

Soo... what do we do when the dealers tell us "You can order" ..and then we can't?

In my case, it was SEVERAL dealers this go around that were 100% sure CRD was open to order. I'm assuming they got their info and clearance to message this out from someone as it all happened within a space of 2-3 days.

Soo... what's my recourse here?

"Oh darn, guess I'll just sit here with my thumb up my ass..."

...or...

"Hey, asshat, someone is telling people they can order, but they can't and you jackasses aren't helping at all, so what's the truth of the matter???"

Re: 2014 diesel production

I'm not saying the dealers shouldn't be updated on the "expected" order dates. But as to what is causing the delays, that is the internal working of the company. That IMHO is not necessarily for public consumption.

As 4jeepdiesel said, we can respectfully disagree.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Between this delay, which seems to be all but confirmed to be EPA related, as well as the recent recall issue, I'm starting to wonder if someone really ticked someone else off ...

While we all know our government could never be this coordinated or effective, this is an Internet forum so it's clearly time to break out the unfounded speculation.

As angry as I get about the delays I need to side with Bill and Chevy here. Every manufacturer has the right to control the information how they see fit. If we want to change that, apply to the board of directors. There are many very good reasons why we will never know if it is emissions or simply launch timing. I want a diesel too but very likely the complete response to the enquiry I made will only give me an idea of when they may start the order process. From what I have gathered so far there are only a very extremely few people who know what the plan for this launch is and they are controlling that information for reasons above our pay grades.

You guys (girls) will hear me say this lots. Personally it doesn't make me happy I can't get a firm answer but I understand what they are doing and Jeep is no different than every other auto manufacturer on the planet. They are responsible to the owners and shareholders and if they need to keep something to themselves they will. You don't like it buy something else, personally though now that I have had the long chat with my contact I will be buying a CDJ product, hopefully a Jeep but I need to now calculate my higher costs of operation and weigh that against my savings should the delay continue (less likely that will be an issue)

Chevy, thanks again for tolerating us, I know you do your best and you have nothing even remotely close to do with the delay (neither does the factory).

Re: 2014 diesel production

Here's the problem though.

The way they are opting to "control" the information is leaving their own Dealers hanging dry.

The Dealers are now scrambling for information and starting to send out bad info. At that point, Jeep needs to send corrective information out to the Dealers to message out.

Once you get into an Echo Chamber bad things happen, and the fact that articles about the diesel are being pulled down, should be a red flag for this, especially if combined with dealers sending out bad info now as what a Dealer says, can be construed as "the company line" even if it was not.

I don't disagree with you at all. The problem is that some of the dealers really suck and would turn on the manufacturer. Absolutely the communication could be better, there is no doubt of a fail here for sure.

Yeah, but most times when someone gets a bad taste in their mouth from a company, they take their business elsewhere, even if that manufacturer does have the best product for their needs.

Considering what's REALLY going on, I can understand why they haven't said anything, yet keep advertising it. But at the same time, I feel they need to respectfully consider how it comes off to many of you who've waited for quite a while for this thing.. I know for a fact there are superiors of mine in the plant, and out at HQ, who browse this site from time to time, but like I said before, the market spans beyond these threads.. So even if they offered you faithful few a "whenever it's launched" voucher, that wouldn't be fair to those who are just as anxious, yet aren't members here.

So - .. my suggestion would be allowing dealers to (collectively) take 1941 pre-orders for it, and give those ppl EcoDiesel ONLY vouchers worth $1941 off. That would be an effort to at least say, "bare with us.. It's coming."

However, I'm with Bill in that, they don't HAVE to tell you jack s**t. It's still a business, and this is still America.. And that's how it works around here. Those in power do what they want, and the rest of us are left to beg for mercy. And since Romney taught us that corporations are people, this includes them. Technically they are legally within their rights to advertise, given the pilot volume and intent to market in MY14. And bc '14 will run through next June, there's PLENTY of time for all those ads to hold true..

But again, I don't like being played, or even feeling like I'm being played or strung along, so I can understand how this whole thing comes off to you all..

We know you get it.

So now for something more enlightening.... Why Chevy Boy.... Where did the name come from? I have a GM background in my blood so I am interested in the story and the distraction from the depressing Diesel conversation.

Sorry asking for a minor thread hijack.

Well sir, I've pretty much been a Chevy fan as long as I can remember. My dad had a couple Vettes when I was younger, so there's that, but I've always liked the Camaro. I'm a middle child and so naturally I suffer from middle-child-syndrome. (It's real ppl.. look it up.) And bc we middle children always get slighted, I always liked that the Camaro was the underdog in comparison to the Mustang. Seems like the Mustang has always been America's beloved, and the Camaro is second best.. So when I turned 15, I helped my folks buy me a '95 Z28, and made it my life's mission to take down every Mustang on the road (even before I got my license).. This lasted for 2 yrs, before I totaled it. It was inevitable..

Long story short, I don't currently own any Chevy products, and have only had one other since that Z, but I just give credit where it's due. I currently only own Ford and Chrysler products, and I work for Chrysler. So there's no bias.. But like Patrick Swayze said in Black Dog, "there ain't nothin like a Caterpillar engine." And as far as I'm concerned, there's a reason why guys with Mustangs put Chevrolet's in em..

Re: 2014 diesel production

Chevy,

I don't own a daily driver Chevy anymore but am also a big fan of the small block Chevy and classic vehicles. I have a 65 El Camino and 56 Suburban that are in various states of restoration and a 93 Z28 my son drives. As my sig shows, no GM vehicles for me lately.

BTW, in my area Mustangs were always a girls car.
