Well sir, I've pretty much been a Chevy fan as long as I can remember. My dad had a couple Vettes when I was younger, so there's that, but I've always liked the Camaro. I'm a middle child and so naturally I suffer from middle-child-syndrome. (It's real ppl.. look it up.) And bc we middle children always get slighted, I always liked that the Camaro was the underdog in comparison to the Mustang. Seems like the Mustang has always been America's beloved, and the Camaro is second best.. So when I turned 15, I helped my folks buy me a '95 Z28, and made it my life's mission to take down every Mustang on the road (even before I got my license).. This lasted for 2 yrs, before I totaled it. It was inevitable..

Long story short, I don't currently own any Chevy products, and have only had one other since that Z, but I just give credit where it's due. I currently only own Ford and Chrysler products, and I work for Chrysler. So there's no bias.. But like Patrick Swayze said in Black Dog, "there ain't nothin like a Caterpillar engine." And as far as I'm concerned, there's a reason why guys with Mustangs put Chevrolet's in em..
That is very cool. I always find it interesting to get someone's background into the picture. You are passionate about your vehicle beliefs and it appears that translates to your work ethic. I also believe that different car companies do different things better. Often one has a better power train, sometimes another one has better ride and handling and there has definitely been times I wanted to pull a engine and tranny for a transplant but I am simply not that mechanically inclined.

I can say I have not been a Chrysler guy since the 1994 Grand Cherokee but you guys are certainly building some attractive stuff now. Just drove a RAM 1500 Long Horn for 4 hours with my trailer and I was pleasantly surprised (I am considering alternatives to the Jeep Diesel so this part is still kinda on topic). I was in the 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ yesterday as well and I think they missed the mark (will do a tow test hopefully soon). First problem and it turned me off right before I got in the truck is it still has a separate key and fob.... No passive entry and you need to stick that metal thing in the 2007 steering column and turn it. I know seems silly but the more Dodge stuff I drive the more I feel GM has lost sight of what the customers are looking for (and yes anyone who reads my UConnect threads can jump all over it not working perfectly yet BUT at least Chrysler is moving into the 21st century....WHO uses keys any more???). It was the most expensive truck Chevy makes and even though it had really cool LEDs down the box rail I felt they missed some of the basic stuff people want in a truck that expensive now (plus of course it has the old 6 speed so more to the example you make I want that 8 speed you guys are running no matter what I get so maybe FrankinTruck.

Anyway back to your story, I am glad that it isn't just a nick name someone gave you but it is something about where you came from. The question came up for me because of your Avatar, I asked myself if it was some kind of Joke but I figured there was something deeper to it reading your posts.

Thanks for the insight. Nice to put a story to one of the JNAP crew! Still going to try and buy a Jeep but it may end up with a duramax in it

Re: 2014 diesel production

See what you've done Willx!???

I will say it wasn't my intent to derail this thread with Chevrolet talk.. I was just answering a question. (So I apologize in advance to the sensitive folk when they wake up and realize their notifications for this thread have nothing to do with '14 production.. or Jeeps.. or diesels. )

In other news, I'm not sure if it made national news or not, but I hear they had a press event here yesterday where some CEO, or govt. official who ordered a new Grand Cherokee came to see it made and was supposed to be handed the keys by Marchionni.. I hear he (Sergio) wasnt able to make it, but the rich dude was pleased... Oh, and I hear it was an EcoDiesel!

Ok, jk abt the diesel part.. I wasn't here, and didnt catch it on the local news, so I don't know what he bought.. Nor can I find the story online anywhere.

.
It was entirely on purpose. If I am sitting in a boardroom and conversation derails and people starting getting angry (without progressing the subject because being angry is ok as long as it goes somewhere) change the subject to something people want to know but never ask. I call it the meeting reset... Works in boardrooms and forums. You build em we buy em so it seemed logical that most people here would like to know who you are. You become a little more real to us and we stop being dicks for a little while because the anger about the diesel wasn't progressing anything.

We can go back to Diesel talk now but it is important to remember that you and everyone else here has opinions about this Diesel and the delays but yelling wont fix crap, and since there was nothing coming of the back and forth I thought I would hit the reset. Sergio isn't stopping in for the conversation any time soon and the Diesels are a little ways off so this was a fun detour.

Ban me for thread hijacking or acknowledge that I just lightened the mood in the thread a little. That's all

Re: 2014 diesel production

Uh-oh... my wife says she found someone to buy my Acura TL and if she sells it today I have to "go get a damn jeep now and quit whining about it" or make sure the rain gear for my bike is in really good shape.

Same here but looks like I won't have to order mine. There seems to be enough base (no extra options) Overlands at dealers around here to pick from. I'm looking to get it the last week of June or early July.

your last update? Are you quitting Jeep Garage or something?

Don't worry, our hopes aren't up at all. We're already prepared for October/November.
