I drove many 3.0 Diesels before ordering this one. My 2009 ML320 never had an issue, I never plugged it in and I was not careful about where I bought fuel. And yes, I have seen temperatures of -20. They are pretty resilient in general

Re: 2014 diesel production

Looks like a DIY job for sure.
Two questions, is this performed as scheduled routine maintenance or after an EVIC notification? Also, what volume of fluid is typically drained?

He put me on hold for 10 minutes, then came back and said he got "special permission" to contact the plant manager to see what the delay is, and he will get back to me tomorrow.
I love calling an bugging these guys, because I get such varied answers as to why the delay.
Lets hope they figure out the problem with our diesels, fix it (if it is broke), and release them soon (or even quicker if there is no fix to make).
Thanks for the update, Shannon. Willx/Milous, any hints as to what the latest in the seemingly never-ending delay is? It seemed like there was some definite movement for an imminent release, but I'm sensing a "false start."

Perhaps logistics and 10x the number of Cherokees needing to be shipped will slow ours down??

There are some things happening that can't really be discussed, but Vtail is mainly correct.... We are simply caught in a storm of Cherokees right now.

There are definitely some "logistics problems" right now and I am "flying blind" because I can't seem to tell the difference about what is where. This is uncharted territory for me and possibly Milous too because there are lots of things that we see right now that make no sense.

Think of that vehicle we talked about once that got shipped without being built and how weird that was... weird is the new norm.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Man... they are gunna land the diesels at the WORST possible time from a selling standpoint...

Petrol is WAY down on price, Diesel is stuck in "Winter heating oil" phase, and people are not looking to do long hauls/road trips right now.

If I was Jeep, I'd not build many more for NAFTA until Spring/Summer when the shine of the diesel is in full effect.

Consumers (those that aren't diesel geeks) will look at the extra cost of the engine and look across the street at the fuel pump prices. $3.19 for Regular here in Seattle now and $3.99 for D2.

...ugh...

Trainwreck.

Appreciate the candor, Willx. Unfortunate that we're seemingly going to have to wait out the Cherokee storm before we see these things in our garages.

Diesel only produces 1/10th the amount of CO as gas burners. A person would have to be in a enclosed space for a long time to get CO poisoning. You would probably run of of Diesel fuel from a full tank before the CO emissions actually hit fatal levels. Especially if not under load.

Let's see, 27 out of 600/day production, that's less than 5%. That tells me they are either holding back or the demand has tapered for the time being. If the latter, could be because a lack of diesels hitting the lots and streets is hurting sales or maybe there was just pent up initial demand that has now quieted down. I'm hoping that once we get ours and the word hits the streets how fabulous these diesels are, that sales will start ticking up.
