I do not nor have I ever worked in the auto industry. I am thankful for the JNAP employees who take pride in their work. Some invite strangers to tour the plant...That is way cool! I enjoyed the pictures and find myself returning to the thread for one more look. So from somewhere, where it is trying to snow, have a great day!
This is easy to say if you personally have no reason to be pressured. Personally I have stretched my current vehicle out as far as it can go and i need its replacement before winter hits or else I am looking at serious transportation issues. I am expecting a baby very shortly and need to have reliable transportation in addition the the fact I need to bring crib, etc home in something. Heck there are people on here driving motorcycles to try to bridge the gap in their vehicles since this SUV had been delayed so much!

I dont fault you for not feeling the pressure but to push aside our concerns because you have no issues with the delay is a little unfair. I have worked in the auto industry and personally never seen this long of a delay on a vehicle power train component without it actually being canceled.

I do agree JNAP guys are top notch and we all appreciate everything they have done for us but clearly there are some wings that need to be clipped in upper management after this repeatedly delayed debacle of an engine launch.

Re: 2014 diesel production

With nothing else to do, I called my salesman. He got a quick reply back from his inquiry into the status of my diesel.

He said there are no issues with the diesel. They are holding them for a last final inspection and probably will be released next week. He thought it could be a couple of weeks then before I get it.

I told him there is an "issue" at least to me regarding the vehicle.

So, nothing we haven't heard.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Just for fun - Today's answer from the dealer....

"It is my understanding that all EcoDiesels that were produced are having 100% inspected and driven on a test course for calibration of the transmission to the diesel. All are being individually inspected."

However in their neglect, I've found a bridge to engage you (the customer) where they've fallen short. Which requires a bit of poking and prodding and relationship building with some suits in and out of the plant. But again, they don't have to tell or get anything right with me. They officially only deal with the guy in the big chair at JNAP, and last I checked he isn't engaged with you all either.

When I said my ppl are contradicting each other, I meant sources outside of JNAP within the company. We just take orders and build em. They decide what happens when. Again, just clarifying.. I'm in no official position here from Jeep/JNAP. I'm just a peon who gives a damn a lil too much.
Chevy, no disrespect to you, Willix and the other just doing your job at JNAP. It just seems like we are all getting conflicting information; from both Jeep Customer Service, people in the know (you guys), and nothing actually from Jeep suits. It's very frustrating when many of us either sold our current car or expected delivery for other reasons when we were originally told March release then August know who knows. Some have even jumped ship and gone to other brands because of the vagueness of the delays. I think we all understand there are issues when releasing new products and we all want the best product that can be produced. Again, the note was not directed directly at you or anyone in particular, just getting a little fed up with delays.

I guarantee Willx is as frustrated as you, and Chevy is probably more so. He works in the plant, has built them, and sees them sitting in a yard outside the plant. There is no known reason at this point in time as to the delay. There were a few holding points, but to my knowledge, they have all been lifted. Willx, along with many others here have been waiting with me, since they announced in January that they would be released in March. We are all frustrated that the suits are holding our Jeeps hostage. I keep looking at other vehicles too, as I have thought about jumping ship. The problem comes back to the fact the the JGC has everything I want, and is in my price range. Currently, there is nothing out there that comes close IMHO. I personally have seen the "Room" that they do the 100% inspection in when we took the tour. It is not as big of a deal as they make it sound. It does not take more than a few hours per Jeep to inspect. We share your frustration. All I can say is we need to hang on a little longer. I do have a upper level source at Jeep, and he told me 5 months ago that they would be produced in September, and released in October. The production date held true (actually started a few days early). I have to respect his words that this will happen, and have not been bugging him. I guarantee that if my jeep is not here by November 1st, I will be on the phone to find out what is going on.

Our delay is also pushing back the introduction of an ecodiesel option for the Ram 1500 trucks.

Thanks for the article it seems like it might shed a little light on what the problem is or might have been.

It'll be interesting to see the number of miles each of our SFU's have at delivery.

Yup: "According to Allpar, a large number of the EcoDiesel engines have been held at the VM engine plant in Ferrara Italy to be recalibrated to meet the American emission standards. Allpar also reports that the VM production line that was tasked with producing the EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 has been paused and should the calibration issue reports be true – it would make good sense for Chrysler to stop producing the engines until they are able to ship those engines that have already been produced. - See more at: http://www.torquenews.com/106/ram-1500-ecodiesel-delayed-until-early-2014#sthash.Gvz4eNRO.dpuf"

But that was taken care of early October when CARB signed off, right?

The emissions delay doesn't really make sense to me. I just can't see how this could be something that would just pop up near the date in which these things were supposed to be released. When they decided to put a diesel in both of these vehicles, you would assume that they confirmed that VM Motori can produce a motor that meets US emissions standards. Does not compute.
