We will say that if I understand correctly that the source might be high enough up that the translation would have happened from Italian.

It makes more sense if you are waiting on an "approval body" if that helps make it clearer.

Its available now for the Durango, but not 100% sure on the JGC. Donlen.com lists DVD production start as Nov 18 for JGC.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I went to my dealership today to drive the hemi overland in consideration of canning the diesel limited I had ordered with everyone else. They pulled my invoice and noted that the base cost of our precious SFUs has actually gone up by about $200. My sales guy thinks that they were waiting on a "part," which makes me concerned about the de-tuning theory. There was also an increase in price for the 20" rims and a $20 - $30 fuel surcharge on the new invoice as well? When all was said and done, it's going to cost an additional $400 from when I ordered (limited 4x4, tow package, 20" rims). Should I fight this new increase or do I have any ground to stand on? In the end I walked and decided to continue waiting on my SFU. I guess I needed some input and time to think.

Do you have a Bill of sale from your order?

I was told by my dealer that when I put down the $500 deposit, I would be locked into the price he quoted me.

Yeah, I still have our agreement paperwork, but don't think it's actually a "bill of sale."

If it is in writing don't worry about it.

Dealer should be risking a factory order over a few hundred dollars.

Seriously. When it gets under 40 it's a little uncomfortable unless I break out the heated vest and insulated riding pants. Once it gets to freezing I chicken out due to the prevalence of black ice around here.

Yeah, despite living in CA, I occasionally run into ice and snow in some of the mountain runs that I do. Speaking from experience, hitting black ice in the middle of a turn is ... ummm ... pulse-quickening to say the least!

Re: 2014 diesel production

I too was hoping to CRD it before the snow flies. Its always nice to get some "nice weather" driving in on a new vehicle before snow season starts.

Alas, we've been driving in snow for the last 6 weeks here, so that ship sailed a long time ago. However, we are having temps up to the upper 40s this week, and lots of sun, so it might be a nice week to see some movement... If I'm lucky we might even have some Indian Summer to get me through the first few weeks of ownership. ;-)

What is the single easiest way to kill the Jeep EcoDiesel in the US? de-tune it. I guarantee the demand would drop off enough to cause the entire offering to be canned within a year or two. There's no way they're going to do any major changes at this point without endangering the entire endeavor. Additionally, they knew the CARB requirements way ahead of time and calculated they could meet those requirements at the given power numbers. Even if they did need to tweak the motor because it failed to meet a specific requirement, it would only be a small change. IMO there is almost zero chance there will be a major detune of this motor.

Re: 2014 diesel production

From the VM Motori page:
"The L version of the 3L V6 has been specifically developed to meet the challenging emission norms of North America market (NAFTA) and provides 177 kW power and 570 Nm torque." &
"NOTE: in order to meet specific vehicle requirements and specifications, performance de-rating is possible."
