Ooh, redo 2,000 plus Monroney stickers. Still think it is the tags that are supposed to be attached to the door sills.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Based on the below definitions, no stickers on the windows and being specific to Diesel engines, it must be final EPA approval:

(or the North American Unicorn Association has not officially approved the JCG CRD)

World English Dictionary
homologate (hɒˈmɒləˌɡeɪt)vb 1. chiefly Scots law to approve or ratify (a deed or contract, esp one that is defective) 2. law to confirm (a proceeding, etc) 3. to recognize (a particular type of car or car component) as a production model or component rather than a prototype, as in making it eligible for a motor race [C17: from Medieval Latin homologāre to agree, from Greek homologein to approve, from homologos agreeing, from homo- + legein to speak] homolo'gation
ho·mol·o·gate(h-ml-gt, h-)tr.v.ho·mol·o·gat·ed, ho·mol·o·gat·ing, ho·mol·o·gates To approve, especially to confirm officially.

homologate [hɒˈmɒləˌgeɪt]vb (tr)1. (Law) Law, chiefly Scots to approve or ratify (a deed or contract, esp one that is defective)
2. (Law) Law to confirm (a proceeding, etc.)
3. (Individual Sports & Recreations / Motor Racing) to recognize (a particular type of car or car component) as a production model or component rather than a prototype, as in making it eligible for a motor race

It's been already stated that the EPA is not the holdup.

However so far nothing has been stated for/against the latest theory of it being the federal safety standards approval/sticker.

Silence, in and of itself, may be the confirmation since no one can risk affirming the correct answer.

So here is a mitigating question to those who know:

Does a vehicle model that has safety approval in its currently available engine options have to receive approval for an additional engine option?

No. The window sticker is applied when the vehicle is released to shipping and invoiced to the dealer...the eagerly awaited "KZ" status. We are all stuck is "JS" status which means in storage. The next step is "KZ".

Re: 2014 diesel production

Chevy said it wasn't the stickers. I thought the answer was obvious, they are awaiting a full shipment of skittles and skittle machines to install into the unicorns.

Heads up race of two JGC's....5.7 Hemi vs CRD 3.0. Both tuned. In another video, the same 2005 Hemi ran 0-60 in 6.9s. Looks like our CRD is going to deliver good performance.

Not window stickers. Vehicle can not ship without approval from NTSB and crash test ratings approved. Separate sticker on door jamb for that. Still guessing this is the hold up. I'm sure they are already printed, and come final approval on Friday, they will slap numerous stickers on our Unicorns and send them on their merry way. My guess is we will see the first KZ's as early as this Friday, and as late as Next Monday. I don't think it will be any later than that.

Well, we also have to consider that Milous and Chevy aren't on this thread 24/7 so they may not have had time to stop in and say something. That being said, I did notice that both Milous and Chevy were listed as active users in this thread within the last hour or so, and now they are not - so they came, presumably read, and then left without saying a word. Which might mean something, or it might just mean they were reading and didn't have time to post anything.

I am not "in the know", but I've got to imagine that any new configuration would require a new approval. Especially something like an engine change since that affects overall weight, weight distribution, etc. And there may even be different safety standards for diesel vs gas.

Now on the flip-side, Chevy does say:

And I can't imagine that Chevy would make such a promise if some sort of approval was still required because there's no way he could know how that decision would go with enough certainty to make such a promise.

And he also said:

None of that is the answer.
He specifically lists "certs" as not one of the reasons. Though I suppose there could be some semantics coming in to play.

But in all other ways, including when Chevy says "And it's easily verifiable" it fits.

So, I guess for now I'll stick with my guess of the federal safety cert, especially since I don't have any other bright ideas (or even not-so-bright ideas) at the moment.
