I agree... BUT... My mind is absolutely boggled that obtaining NHTSA or IIHS safety ratings is an 11th hour activity... Months after production began. The same applies to EPA and CARB approval.. But of course the late CARB approval was confirmed.

I just cannot fathom a product management/rollout process where this would not have been accomplished with pilot builds months before production actually starts. That we are waiting for regulatory approval on a product 2 months after production started seems crazier to me than a unicorn that farts rainbows and skittles.

Well, having driven (and ordered one) I will say that it's only slightly smaller then the JGC inside. On the towing aspect, my boat/camper are well within the towing capabilities (4400 pounds) so that's not a worry either.

The 4x4 system is hella nice (yeah, no QL type system, but... meh). In my test drive I went blazing up some mountain trails. It was less like poking up the mountain and more like flying up it. I can only compare it to driving a WRX the way it handled and inhailed the road, very rally car style. Which, again, is fine, I'm not taking this thing scampering up Hells Canyon or anything, it will be used to pull the boat/camper/toys around, and go plunking through the mountains.

The price actually isn't that bad once you start talking invoice pricing and such. I got the one we ordered down several thousand dollars and damn near the same price as the Overland CRD we have on order.

As a side note, Audi has moved the arrival date of the Q5 TDI up from 10/30 to 10/27... imagine that, an auto builder actually shipping their product...

At any rate, I suspect my Jeep will lose the race and we'll be going Audi at this point. Which is a pisser, but, having paid for this thing a full Fiscal Quarter ago I've pretty much had enough (as have a growing number of folks according to the Jeep dealer I've been working with).

It's a real shame how Jeep handled this entire release.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the day we take ownership of the Audi and formally cancel the Jeep order is the day the KZ's will start hitting...

Re: 2014 diesel production

Too bad that the man who gave us the skittle farting unicorn will not be getting one himself. One more week, and you can have it ...... I know it sucks waiting, but in the end, I think you would be happier. That's why your ordered the JGC before the Q5 in the first place.

Oh, I agree completely.

It's a massive $%#!ing annoyance, but the reality of the situation is that we're all tired of waiting. Bank is pulling the loan paperwork on 10/31 if I don't have a PO by that time. Which means going back through the whole damn process again and taking the hard hit to the credit number, blah blah blah (none of which I should have to do for a vehicle I paid for almost 3 months ago).

Plus, SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is beyond livid at this point. I had to restrain her from just flat out buying the Audi we test drove and convinced her she needed to order one just right with all the goodies and such (as this will most likely be her winter driver).

Sooo... yeah. Chances are, I'll be back in 2-3 years to replace one of the rides with the Waggy CRD (hell, I bet by then they will have KZ'd most of the JGC CRDs!)

In the mean time, I'll just whimper sadly each time I see a CRD JGC drive by (presuming I do ever see one).

True in part, but goes to my saying that newer builds COULD go KZ first, bc the hold could be addressed on the newer builds first. But I'm not sure if this is how it will go. I was just saying don't be surprised if..

Terminology.. This was actually true a few weeks ago, but not related to this hold. Nevertheless your description does still apply in part. It's just the terminology.

You all should really listen to this guy more.. I really thought you were gonna clear the bases with this one.. Then it died on the warning track. But as you stated, it seems so unlikely.. Which is why I felt like an idiot.

This is why I said it wasn't the stickers.. I mean, in theory they are right, in that they do need em.. But the sticker in and of itself is not a source of hold.

- parts shortage
-> doubtful (IMO)
Since we know that urea is not a part, and is available nearly everywhere, then that leaves...

Another good swing.. But you forgot it's not a certs thing.

So definitely the DEF system.....maybe the part that injects into the exhaust. Not the fluid or the cap.

Possibly the DEF tank itself, they do have an electric heater...

Yup... I bet that's it.

They don't have enough piss for the piss tanks on hand.

...ho...ly... shit.

Seriously?

I'm gunna fly over there and beat who ever is in charge of this project upside the head with a cluex4...
