Re: 2014 diesel production

or atm machine . . . automatic teller machine machine? I hear that german urea is top shelf stuff . . . I could digress but I won't lol. I am thinking we will get good news tomorrow. They just lowered the price of the Rx8 by $2k lol, don't want to have it over the winter, so I really would like to test drive one of these unicorns before i make my final decision, but things are getting close as this car is going to get on others radar at this price!

Y'all just whip yourselves into a frenzy when you know that all will be revealed at the end. It's like you are yelling at the screen during Murder She Wrote or Perry Mason or Matlock.

Let the story unfold as it needs to. It will end. Trust me.

For all of you guys calling for peoples heads, these were anticipated circumstances that wandered into unforeseen circumstance territory and things had to be changed in the middle of the process. In other less pious words, shit happened, it got dealt with.

Re: 2014 diesel production

It seems like Chevy has now given us enough clues.

My guess is that it indeed is the urea tank. And the reason that it's not on there is because it hasn't been approved by the homologation body yet.

EDIT: or vice-versa, the homologation hasn't been able to approve since the tank wasn't installed.

It'll get approved tomorrow, then they'll be installed. And depending on how they handle things, later builds could KZ first because they'll start addressing it on the line and/or later builds might be closer/easier to retrofit.

OK, based on earlier posts, you seem to know what you're talking about. So it's not the tank. But it's something very close. When I saw one of Chevy's earlier posts, I was thinking maybe it was a sticker near the urea fill cap that indicates what's supposed to go in there. But then Chevy's latest post seemed to be pointing more toward the tank.

Re: 2014 diesel production

If it was simple as stickers, someone at corporate would have run to Staples and bought a p-touch

Re: 2014 diesel production

Maybe they were installed but there was a change required after the first few groups were completed which required an approval (for the change) so once the approval is given, the first ones will be retrofitted and all will be released?

So do you read the end of the mystery book first?

I dunno - I find it fun to take clues and try to figure things out. Keeps my brain doing something, and also gives me something to distract from the frustration of not having a vehicle other than my motorcycle.

So, if I've understood correctly, here are the clues we have so far:

- Best I can tell, Chevy is telling us there was a parts shortage
- it's basically "obvious" and could be seen
- if I'm understanding correctly, this part has been holding up the homologation approval, which seems to be about to occur tomorrow.
- It seems that it's related to the urea
- It's not the urea fluid
- It's not the urea cap
- It's not the urea tank
- It's not a sticker

I'm going to let that info percolate for a bit and see if anything comes up.
