While I was waiting, some unplanned expenses combined with the mandatory option packages that I specifically don't want made me a little more cautious. Having the diesel in the lower trim levels for the Ram 1500 makes it worth considering to me, and as a consumer I say alternatives are just a good thing in general.
Well first thing sterno I must say I want to kick myself and want someone else to kick me also. I could have taken some great pictures, had all of my Nikons right there in my case and taking a picture of the vehicle never entered my mind until I got back home and started reading Jeep garage. I know nothing really about diesels except someone here suggested I drive one at a VW dealership and I did a Toureg and it was great just too small.

Anyway today I got to drive a CRD 1500 Ram and it was nice. It was quiet inside the cab and pretty quiet outside to me. When I looked in the engine compartment I was very surprised to see this little engine for this big A_ _ truck. The engine compartment was big enough for a 6.4 Hemi or maybe even a Cummings whatever. Like I said I know nothing abouty the types of diesels. When I got into the pickup it had tons of room and tons of features. What really surprised me was the gear shift; there was none. The shifting is done by a round knob on the dash just to the right of the driver; very neat and simple. Now the driving part was nice it just seem to have that lag in the turbo that people say that turbos are known for. But once you get past the that brief lag you're gone. The lag could have been from the weight of the pickup; I've never been a pickup person but it was big to me, but not as big as the Long Horn that was sitting there with the belt buckle badge. LOL I did ask about the lag and they said it could just be because of the weight of the truck. But don't get me wrong it's got the power.

I was ridding (as a passenger) in it for a while and when I was riding in it I did not notice any lag so it could have been me because once I got behind the wheel to drive I was being very gentle with it because it was pre production or what ever they call it and did not want anything to happen to it on my watch. The guy who was driving to show me how it performed drove it with no lag but he said he has a diesel for towing all of his toys. I think for the pickup guys it should be a very welcome addition to the CRD family. It get's a thumbs up from me. Oh and the pickup section had one of those tanue (spelling) covers. Hope this answers at least part of your question. When it will be out he refused to say and I did not push. Just sorry for no pictures. Also I was backing that big thing up and had no problem thanks to the big 8.4 screen backup camera; worked like a charm. You know the vehicle was just so new to me it was really hard to take it all in. But it should do very well for the pickup crowd.

Yahoo! Just back from dinner and appreciate the great news! Thanks, Willx and everyone else! I hope the rest of the bunch get shipped very soon. My CRD needs some company! I hope you feel better soon, Chevy. I was at the Jeep dealer earlier today and decided to trade the Outback. It's been a great car and I will miss it but am excited to tow my camper with the Jeep! Too bad I have to wait until next season for camping.

Spoke with my sales guy today and he said my CRD should be in the St. Louis area (where I live) on Monday! If true, I feel a little bad that I ordered mine 9/24, way after many others, and I may end up getting it before they do. But on the other hand I finally get my CRD that I've been waiting on for a year now. Glad everyone is getting their CRDs soon! Thanks to everyone who provided intel, it's made it a bit easier to understand the hold ups and the process.

Congrats! Glad we're finally hitting KZ! Now I can be fairly sure my loan won't expire before I get the GC.

Anyway, I will try to keep up with it best I can and keep you guys posted on when your vehicles post movements. The Tet is coming online so Milous Time now!

Thanks again Chevy, have a great night!
Don't worry, my sniper team is looking for you as we speak
Seriously, I am glad you were in the first batch. You have done so much for us. I was hoping to be in the first batch, but I think mine may have gone back to paint.

Chiv, last I heard was a big "splat" -yours went back for crash testing

The way I figure, Chiv and I were among the first off the line, and will probably be the last delivered. Keeping my fingers crossed that there is no snow for Chiv till he gets his ride.

Chevy, when you migraine clears, see if you can get mine out of the paint room.

Thanks Will, Milous, and everyone at JNAP. I figured mine would be one of the last to KZ since that's my usual luck... but I guess I shouldn't get too excited until I actually see it on the train headed down to Houston. Hopefully I won't have to drive my current CRD too many days past Nov. 1st when its registration expires!

In keeping with the recent theme of this thread, here's my celebratory unicorn graphic:

Shannon, it looks like there were 2 distinct releases today. One at 11:33am and another at 8:32pm. Its too early to know the pattern for sure but it looks like once per shift...so the next batch could be in the early a.m. I'm sure someone can chime in and confirm or correct this theory.

I think the data entry is only done twice a day.. But shipping is an all day/night thing. So it's possible that when the next update is processed, there could be more cars (from here) shipped than both of the updates from yesterday (10/25) combined.

Great info....thanks for the update Chevy. I'm sure Saturday will be a big day for movement.
