If you look at the stats, the Q5 is a little smaller, not a lot than the GC. 35 cu.ft cargo room for the GC vs 29 for the Q5, 68 cu ft Max cargo (rear seats down) for the GC vs 57 for the Q5. The Mercedes GLK250 is quite a bit smaller. My 2003 Murano is between the Q5 and GC and I really don't want something smaller, but don't want something much bigger either, so the GC really fits the bill. It is interesting to note that in the 10 years since I bought my Murano, Nissan hasn't done anything to improve the mileage, it is still 18/24. This is one of the reasons (but not the only one) I want the diesel GC, better fuel economy.

Seriously.... go drive a Hemi.... take the salesman on a "three hour tour". Think about how amazing it is. Then improve the fuel mileage by 35%.... and that is being very reasonable.

I just spent an hour driving a Summit. It was one of the quietest, nicest drives I had in a very long time. Then I jumped back in the Jaguar I was testing something unrelated and I was completely put off with it. I make no exaggeration, go drive one really get a feel then go drive a similar priced Q5 and you tell me what your thoughts are.

Totally agree on the size. The GC is "just right" for my use. BTW, I NEVER get 24 with my AWD Murano. I get 21.6 on most trips driving 75mph. My 4WD diesel Excursion gets about the same. The Murano was hopefully the last gas burner I purchase new.

I have driven the Summit and loved it, just got tired of waiting for the CRD and decided to see what else is out there. Nothing else compares for the price, so I continue to wait for the EcoDiesel....

I feel this is the vicious circle many of us are in. Every time I get mad and want to go out and buy something else I go through this huge research and testing project. I come to the conclusion the JGC Diesel is the best solution, it gets delayed again and I get mad again .

Something does need to give though, I can't keep my loaner car forever so if they aren't building in August I may need to do something else. Just not sure I can justify Gas.

Are you able to confirm that the order bank will open on the first Tuesday in August?

This does sound a lot like another delay only because I was under the impression that initial build would be closer to 60 days delivery. Mind you both of these options put this into Q4 which is not what they had sent to dealers. Communications are just terrible, not blaming you...

Thanks.

Just curious, from whence does this information come?

Not saying you're right or wrong, I'm just curious.. There's a lot of ppl who dip in and out of this site making claims to know this-or-that, yet never identify themselves or their "sources," and it only fuels the fire of disappointment and frustration when bogus intel is counted as credible.

I am not saying Shannon is wrong because I believe her source is at Chry corp. But the Chrysler Regional rep told me it was August build which seemed to make sense to get to dealerships in Q3 as published..... but who knows!!!

Re: 2014 diesel production

I didn't say he/she (unisex name, idk m/f??) was wrong either. I just wanna know where the info came from.

When I first joined this site, ppl didnt believe a damn thing I said until I made it clear how I know what I know.. Seems like that's not the case anymore. But I digress..

Oh I totally agree. Just filling in from what I do know. There are tons of people on here who claim to know everything... lots of it is just nonsense of course.

EDIT: CRAP! I didn't even see it was you Chevy!!! For some reason on my phone it looked like Chivvalry, Sorry. You would likely know as much as anyone? Is it still August production to your knowledge? I know when I spoke to Marlon that there was going to be some time from build to delivery due to the extra QC.

I am very interested in what you have to say about this!

Thanks and sorry for the mix up!

Oh the wonders of the internet! It takes some effort to winnow out the BS. I am a huge skeptic of any information about diesel timing, especially after having a Jeep sales rep (not a dealer) tell me orders would open June 11 and then - well, you all know what came of that.
As to predictions of diesel dates, I'll treat them as I do forecasts of Colorado blizzards. I'll believe it when I'm shoveling it!
