Thanks but who are Harold Ziegler and Associates? Are they connected with Chrysler? Doesn't look like it.
Doesn't Chrysler offer their own extended warranty? I guess I've got a bit more homework to do.

Ziegler is a large dealer in MI. The extended service contracts they offer are the Chrysler ones (Mopar - MaxCare). They are simply able to negotiate a better rate because of the number of contracts they sign off. The recommended extended service contracts out there are usually what they call "Exclusionary Coverage". They are usually the higher premium ones, and in the contract they describe the items that ARE NOT covered. Check This Thread for lots of info about it.

So they are an agent for Chrysler?

Yes. They are a Chrysler dealer selling factory service contracts.

I'm not sure what is the definition of an 'agent' in the extended service plan market but it seems to be very similar to the insurance industry (in some aspects it is insurance). If you read the thread above you'll see that the folks who bought those plans received an executed contract from Mopar Vehicle Protection and some of them already used it to successfully file and settle claims.

Yes, it seems to have insurance like attributes.
I keep my vehicles a long time so extended warranty makes sense and this is the first diesel I've owned so I'm a little leery of cost of major components 6 or 7 years out,. Also stuff like the Quadralift and the uconnect system are probably a small fortune to fix or replace.

I see there is also a Lifetime Plan. That sounds expensive but potentially worthwhile.

Unless they've changed the policy you can't get lifetime on the diesel. I wish I could get the lifetime.

True . I spoke with a rep' about the extended warranty for diesel-powered vehicles. There is a new 8-year plan. But, there is also an extension plan with the 7-year. If you get the 7-year plan and have low mileage (under 10K miles per year), in 7 years you can extend another 5 years (for a total of 12 years). The price of the 5-year extension is based on your mileage, but appears to be rather expensive (currently about $2,000).

My dealer just told me that Chrysler is .9% 48 months and 1.9% for 60.

I would like to say thanks to Milous, Chevy, and Willx and all the other insiders contributing to this forum. I have never seen such a high level of commitment and dedication from a group such as yourselves. Your energy and pride in your work is infectious and has definitely reinforced my decision to move to jeep from MB, and will influence future buying decisions to be sure. You men embody "made in America with Pride" and I think it's fantastic. Thanks again and I will definitely stick around after I take delivery of my JGC.
