All this waiting and talking reminds me of the big 2012 JGC SRT8 release over the same time frame... I think Jeep does all of this on purpose. delay delay delay...I waited from August and didn't take delivery until January... just saying...

Enjoying following along,
Matt

All of the e-mails from Jeep are irrelevant except for the one that says shipped. Still waiting for that one. This is getting ridiculous. Been a month, and still sitting in a yard in Detroit. Poor customer service on Jeeps part!!!

Yeah, I got my VOTS "Your new vehicle is beginning to build" email this morning though mine is sitting in the coffee yard waiting to be either reinspected or shipped...hopefully they include the dozen donuts and not just the leftover crumbs

I don't think anyone has answered you; your status is now D1, based upon your second email. In all likelihood, the next time Milous Updates MOTS, you will see a scheduled delivery date.

I bet you could call Jeep / Chrysler and find out also. Good sign for the rest of us that you have gone to D1, since you are in the second month of ordering. Moving right along...

My current car all of a sudden is drinking a lot of coolant lately.... Head gasket issue! The thing is rumbling like crazy and front suspension is starting to shake bad.

I need these f$@&@&& JGC to ship ASAP!

My '06 Pathfinder is in the shop today. I've spent about $3K in the last month on it. Good news is...whoever buys it is going to get a heck of a nice car in good shape...bad news is...I kind of wanted to sell it BEFORE getting all of this work done months ago.

Just got off the phone with Jeep. I have an original ship date of 9/6, but they are now telling me it won't ship until 10/4. Mine will be so old when it is shipped, I should almost get last year prices on this relic. Seriously, Jeep is starting to wear thin on my patience. If they delay it any longer than that, I may just have to look at other manufacturers, as I view this as HORRIBLE customer service.

Hang in there man... We know why and even though we don't like the delay it's better than them finding something that needs fixed AFTER they ship 'em.

Since this is a common practice their planning and scheduling sucks ass... they should be able to better predict shipping dates based off the intention to hold built vehicles from a new build until they are fairly sure there are no issues that might demand a significant recall.

However, as much as it hurts, I think it may be in our best interest that they do this... if they don't catch anything big then WOOHOO! If they do catch something big and can fix it quicker and cleaner than trying to recall thousands of vehicles already on trucks/trains, at dealers, and in customer's hands then also WOOHOO!

So...after waiting since Feb/March....am I the only one that still has that lingering thought....God I hope this thing doesn't drive like s#!t...or I'm going to really kick myself!!!

Try to remember that these are estimated ship/delivery dates. Emphasis on estimated. I doubt anyone at Chrysler has told anyone that they will definitely get a vehicle on xx date. Things can change...that's why it's an estimate.

Try not to think of it purely from your perspective of frustration. There are likely plenty of people at Chrysler that are frustrated by any delays as well even in availability. Remember...they want to SELL these things which means having to deliver them.

It'll be worth the wait :)

Just to get another topic going here, perhaps better suited for another thread, but it does relate to diesels. I've been looking at extended warranties. Since I usually keep my vehicles at least 10 years, and I'm hoping this CRD may last even longer, I want to get a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. But Chrysler will only go 8 years on the diesel. Discounted price at Ziegler is $2000. For $2200 I can get a lifetime warranty from CNA National through my dealer. I compared both warranties in detail and they are virtually the same. I could not find any differences that I recall. I even called the warranty company with the dealer and asked about where I could get the warranty claim service (any certified repair station), what was the process (have the repair station call the warranty company for approval), etc. I also talked with the Jeep service center at the dealer and their manager said there is virtually no difference or difficulties in getting approvals and repairs done from the 3rd party warranty compared to Chrysler.

CNA National is accredited by the BBB, has been in business for 30 years, the parent company (CNA) has been in business for 100 years, and they are backed by $55billion in assets. In addition they've received awards from JD Powers, Dealer's Choice Awards and the American International Dealer's Association (10,000 dealers). So this is no fly by night company and should be around as long as my Jeep.

I've never bought an extended contract like this before, but I've also never owned such an expensive vehicle or one with so much technology that would cost serious coin to repair. I'm leaning toward doing this. Thoughts?

V-Tail, thanks for bringing this up again. I have been thinking about the same thing myself. My dealer is not a CNA dealer and did try to talk me out of it. They are charging roughly $2,800 for Chrysler's warranty, though I got such a great deal on the truck that I didn't want to start negotiating that yet. Anyway, things that they listed against CNA were:
-You can only buy this insurance through a participating dealer. Not a factor for you as yours is participating.
-If you have Chrysler's warranty, you can go to any Chrysler dealer at any time of day or night that they are open, they will be able to look you up, verify your coverage, do the repair, and credit you for the coverage.
-If you go to a non-CNA participating dealer, you will have to pay by credit card and submit to CNA for reimbursement.
-If you go to a CNA participating dealer and CNA is closed (I believe they may be a West Coast company), they MAY not be able to verify your coverage and you will have to front the bill and submit to CNA for reimbursement.
-If a part you need, needs to be ordered, then you again would have to front the bill.
All in all, they made it seem as if Chrysler's warranty is more seamless and user friendly. I don't doubt that is true. However, like you I tend to keep my vehicles and having a lifetime warranty at a lower or similar price to an 8 year one is very attractive. I am leaning that way. However, I haven't explored the possibility of buying the warranty from a different dealer than I purchased the truck from. Time is getting short and it is time to look into these things.

I hope it is not short for BS.

I'm curious how they come up with these dates. Is it simply a math formula or did they actually think at the time the date would hold. It seems the shipping schedule has something to do with it.

If they think all of ours will be built before yours is that's great. I would assume generally it is first come first served. But, if they are waiting for overland Badges and they have lots of Summit badges, the Summits from September ordering can pass us by.

I would assume it would work this way.

If the shipping period from the time the JGC CRD's were built was predicted to be this long, why weren't the dates made to reflect this and if this delay was part of the plan why is it a secret what the actual date these will ship. I feel it must be some kind of regulatory delay like the delay that brought us to 8/9.

If you have 1 thing wrong with your JGC the deductible is $100 if you have 10 things wrong, the deductible is still $100. It is per service visit. So when you have a deductible, you wait and live with the broken thing until more things break to save a $100. I am getting the $0 deductible, the dealership is 2 miles away. With maximum care, every time you bring the vehicle in, for any dealer service, a rental car is included. I will be there anytime anything is even slightly wrong.

The only downside is the term is limited to 7 years and the mileage to 100k miles.

Selling my car tonight.... Which means I'm down to the bike or begging a ride from my wife on a daily basis. This wouldn't be a bad thing even with the weather turning cold but the bike is acting up... Hard starts, stumbles, and stalls. Been troubleshooting it but I'm not much of a mechanic.

My jeep needs to ship soon!!

Fuel Injected or carbureted?

Mine was FI and running bad, replaced the plugs and like a whole new bike. Carbureted, it could be dirty jets or a sticky float.

Additionally, bad gas makes a huge difference. I occasionally got some bad gas and had to burn some off and offset it with some race gas I kept in the garage
