It wasn't used during your open house as a prop was it?
Exact same scenario as mine. I was/am curious as well.

Is there anybody on this thread not cheering for you? I spent half my life in Pittsburgh and do not envy you driving a bike there in the winter. Just got KZ, would trade if it would help, good luck!

Are there any other common practices during dealer prep we should be wary of?

I have used it to clean up the odd spot in the wife's car and does good. Doesn't make the leather slippery. I really like it on the wheel because it cleans all the grime off and you can still use the wheel without needing a death grip to keep a hold of it.

No offense to anyone else on here, but Chiv is the guy I had hoped would get his CRD first.
I've ridden my bike at 40 deg and that is friggin' cold.

Just ask the questions... most don't use the added chemicals but some still do. If you don't like the stick on dealer badges point that out before your truck arrives. I usually just ask for a license plate frame instead.

Mine will get the jeepgarage.org sticker on the rear window likely though

There were never any major engine component failures well into the 120k miles on any of them EVER. Sure the maintenance was a little more with AdBlue but the failures were always crap like the power folding mirrors would all break the internal signal wires after 4 years.

One of the Sprinters and one of the MLs needed AdBlue Heater lines but other than that, we did brakes and oil changes. Some got close to 200k but we usually got rid of them by then. Fuel quality has always been the bigger concern (also the loss of sulfur) but if you are aware of where you buy, there are rarely problems.

Personally I have never seen an intake need to be done on any of the more modern units. Most common failure I have seen and not in a fleet I had anything to do with was improper maintenance and water getting into injectors. That was happening long before 2007 though!
Here in North America, Diesel powered consumer vehicles are still relatively rare. In Europe, fully half of all cars sold are diesel powered. This technology is very mature. There is no need to worry about diesel related early failures. Compared to electric ignition engines, they are far more reliable, no matter ULSD, or any other factor you can throw in.

Most importantly, Diesel fuel contains about 15% more energy by volume than gasoline. This is where the improved fuel mileage comes from. Diesel does produce about 15% more CO2 per kg burned, but this is now a non-issue with modern exhaust systems that manages it with Urea, and burn off any soot caught by the exhaust filtration sytems. Diesel makes sense on every level.

This will be the 10th diesel vehicle I've owned, not counting heavy equipment. I have not had any diesel related powertrain issues ever. I drive on the order of 25K miles per year in all weather, on and off road.

IMHO, diesel is on the rise and here to stay as long as we have internal combustion.

I recognize though that the economics for our American brothers are different due to the inexplicable premium you have to pay for the fuel itself. In Canada, on average, diesel is priced below regular unleaded and as such makes this a no brainer for us...

33 degrees at 70 MPH = 13.5 degrees F wind chill.... VERY glad I have a touring windshield on. My thighs usually thaw out after a couple hours... the space heater under my desk helps considerably!

'course if I would just take the extra minute to put on my riding pants it wouldn't be so bad...

Might be time to look at renting a car since it's only a couple more weeks, and yes, I have faith you'll go KZ soon and be on the same schedule as the rest of us. Last thing you want is to be sick when your ride hits the dealership and not be able to pick it up for a week. Though the sale team would probably thank you since they'll be exploring all that torque in your absence
