I was considering getting one of these:

I was considering having it shipped directly to the dealer. Then I could ride there, hook it up and bring the bike home.

I hate the dealer stickers they put on the car and explicitly instructed my dealer to not do that. I don't need to provide free advertising for them.

Just made my final ride to storage yesterday, but it was 50 degrees and sunny. Not too bad. But "Shivery" needs his CRD ....

Re: 2014 diesel production

CONGRATS! to all the CRD'ers. The Jeep I would've got just went to KZ. I am well into my new car. Learning the UConnect quirks and so forth. Had I not gotten the HEMI™ I would be really stuck now as I would not have had the new Vehicle for my upcoming trip.

I was happy with the deal I ultimately got from my dealer. But as I stared at the logo I eventually decided that has got to go, so, I peeled it off.

Thanks for the info Blink! Bummed that it still needs more "work", but I gather the reprogram is only about an hour, so hopefully won't hold it up much?

Thanks for the detailed info on the yards! Since it seems like they can ship directly from the axle yard, I wonder why they didn't go in parallel, and seem to be waiting for Charlevoix and Java.

Actually, that only accounts for part of the improved efficiency, the remainder comes from the higher compression ratios that burn fuel more efficiently at higher temps. In addition, the longer piston stroke required to get higher compression (turbo chargers help this also) extracts more of the available heat energy from the combusted gases (which is why diesels run cooler) and provides more usable mechanical energy. All of these add up to a much more efficient use of fuel. The larger diameter on the crank that gives you the longer stroke also translates into higher torque compared to a gasser. Rudolf was way ahead of his time....

I believe Chevy was suggesting that they do. The KZ Release dates are note entirely linked to rail or track dates. Detroit Axle yard releases will go on the same trains as earlier Charlevoix trains.

Just got back from dealer. Posting a short video clip so you can hear the diesel while idling.
