I know it is currently "late availability", and from searching the forums there was a post from early Sept stating that ordering for it might be pushed back to mid November.

Is there any further update on this? If we can order it and not be delayed by more than 2 weeks over a normal order I think she wants to consider it...

Thanks!
$2k for rear screens? ...with a Blu-ray player that consumes half of your center armrest storage?

...noooo thanks.

Buy a couple Kindle Fire HD's, or iPads, or pretty much anything along those lines. You'd save yourself atleast $1,000.

But, that being said, it sounds like it would push you back a ways (even though the Durango is now shipping with them).

ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
The diesel engine does not require a break-in period due
to its construction. Normal operation is allowed, providing
the following recommendations are followed:
...
Vary throttle position at highway speeds when carrying
or towing significant weight.

Quote:
NOTE: Light duty operation such as light trailer towing
or no load operation will extend the time before the
engine is at full efficiency. Reduced fuel economy and
power may be seen at this time.
So it would seem they actually encourage towing as a way to break in the engine and increase fuel economy more quickly.

I think Excursion said it, you have nothing to worry about towing 1000# and low wind resistance.
So all I have to do is check the weather... if it's going to be too cold then four hours at 75-80 mph on the bike might be too dangerous. Hypothermia is nothing to play around with. Maybe I just break out the panty hose and thermals and line my jacket and pants with those chemical hand warmers...

Yes, I said panty hose... those suckers hold some warmth.

Wow! Looking at the build status shows a lot of KZ. Some of us JS's are going to get lonely.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Here is a lightweight solution if you only plan on 1 bike

The One, Single Rail Folding Motorcycle Trailer | USA Trailer Store

I looked at these when I still had my bike and was getting rid of the truck

I agree - but this is good info to convince the wife!

Re: 2014 diesel production

I would not be worried about the weight of a big bike on the hitch per se. I'd be more concerned about the possibility of a twisting motion (torque) with the CG of the bike about a foot above the shaft. I'd suggest adding a high support of some kind.

Oh that's very cool, but I wonder how you'd go about strapping your bike down to it without some help. With a two or three bike trailer you can use the kick stand to get things setup and then ratchet it up to center. That said, you can almost always find someone to give you a hand and I love the way this one folds up.

Now, can someone please sneak over to the lot and get my rig released? I'm dying of jealousy over here.

Something tells me all of us West Coast folks are in the same lot... we don't seem to be KZing yet.

Only if you don't count the Bay Area...

I have a feeling it isn't region related.
