I am not sure if the 10 miles is a true requirement but I do know that I test drive is required...however I am also sure the experts will chime in on this.

On a side note, it looks there are only 18 of us left in MOTS that are JS. This mornings release was 15 so here's hoping they finish us off today.

Yes, this is a required procedure of the PDI, and a generally good idea.

If you are really anxious about it, ask them to take a picture of the odometer when it comes off the truck.

My Dealer was very up front that he had a customer who wanted to see and drive it once it arrived and that was fine as long as the Dealer himself went with them. I am different though, dealer helps me and I return the favor. I would love to see them sell lots of oil burners!

Just putting that example out there because there are some crappy dealers but you have to have pretty big nuts to drive someones sold vehicle for anything other than the PDI and fill up for delivery without getting written consent.

Canadian spec is in time driven and as per the other post, they rarely ever drive it a full 10 miles, I think that is the limit.

I got the same reply from my dealer. He said they HAVE to drive it then re-torque the lug nuts. He said "you don't want the wheels to fall off, do ya?" No, I don't.

I did request "No washing, cleaning, detailing, sticker removal, plastic removal, front plate drilling, pinstripes, etc" I want to unwrap it and inspect it myself. Not sure how successful I'll be with that because I won't buy it without inspecting it first.

I wonder if they would let you come along for the PDI test drive...

Amen to that , unless taken literally...

Another left coaster (but right swinging) patiently waiting here for KZ.

Ok, I figured he was telling the truth because he seems to be a good guy but I just wanted to check.

I have him not putting any stickers on it and not installing front license plate. They are going to unwrap it and HAND wash it though... Figured this way I will be able to see scratches and such a lot better. Also I might ask them NOT to use those shiny interior sprays on the inside... Don't want oily mess everywhere!

Yeah, I've got some great rain/cold gloves and my cool weather riding jacket is a 3/4 length solid not mesh... pants are mesh but with inner windbreak removable liner and I can easily wear my rain gear over that to block the wind out completely. Balaclava under the helmet, thermals, layers, layers, etc. I've done some long cold rides in the low 40s and been fine. I just get cold easy... (there's that whine again!) but like you say, if you are dressed for it then it's not a big deal. Just look a little like the Michelin man...

I dunno, I'll kick it around for awhile. Four hours there, a couple hours to pick up the jeep, another hour to get the trailer, and four hours back make for a long day to start with an energy sapping cold ride. Normally four hours on the bike is energizing but that's not four hours on the straight super slab... super slab on the bike is soooooo boring.

Though kittens would certainly liven things up...

I feel like this type of promotion would work with the NAFTA CRD Launch....

There are trees at least(and wild life though) but the cold is just miserable. It seems like you can't hide from the wind no matter what.

When I moved from San Diego to New York, I decided it was a bright idea to ride my bike from San Diego to Houston and leave it at my parents house....in August. I am an idiot for this idea.

The mountains were nice but then there was Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas. Lots of flat nothing and to boot I would drink a large gatorade(20 oz?) every 140-150 miles when I would fill up and I didn't have to go to the bathroom until the next morning.
