I want to first of all say that I am a diehard Jeep grand Cherokee fan. If I were to count them up I think I've owned at least eight brand new Jeep grand Cherokees from the Laredo to limited to Overland to overland summit to a diesel to the mother of all jeep grand Cherokee's the SRT. I almost feel bad saying this but I did own a brand-new 2007 Jeep grand Cherokee diesel limited. I run the Freightliner dealerships in Arizona and can honestly say I am a die hard diesel engine fan. Never in my life have I owned a car that had so many problems that people who knew me made fun of the fact that I owned a car that broke down so much if I ever moved I better be close to jeep dealership. I certainly hope jeep has done a better job with is this engine then the one I had in my 2007. All I can say is I made 100% loyal jeep fan and I would never dare try another diesel engine in this product. That being said I have owned at least five grand Cherokees after the 2007 diesel engine version. Buyer beware!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone has questions I'd be more than happy to speak to someone. My cell phone number is 623–217–4202

James

I did point this out...

Once it was being talked about, pretty well anyone with KZ had already been "reviewed" and given a passing mark.

The little thing that was nothing didn't cause any vehicles to miss their ride out of town. Though we cannot discuss forecasting data, everything is moving as it should (Chevy can likely confirm everything is normal since mid-morning yesterday). Everything so far is leaving in the order it is supposed to. It is going to start to get a little crazy with trains and trucks all over the place very soon.

Jimmy, I feel you my man.. And I wouldn't even stop with that model. All that pre-2010 stuff was garbage. A lot of ppl here stuck it out and stayed with the brand, but what I know as a mechanic is that ALL Chrysler's were the biggest headaches in the flippin world. Again, WERE.. So yes, I understand your point, but here's why you're wrong;

1.) As a Freightliner man, I'm sure you know that things can change. If I told you how many times Classic XL's have shaken me down the interstate, with their awful ride, I assume you'd be quite apologetic. And prolly have heard all the Freightliner horror stories. But Freightliner has come a long way. I'm still a Kenworth man myself, but I do give credit where it's due.. and Freightliner is no longer the least of the pack.

2.) There is nothing from the failed Daimler-Chrysler CRD mishap being carried over here. Nothing. And the R&D that went into that pos, or lack thereof, is exactly why this model wasn't launched sooner. Although some ppl actually liked that thing, it's well known and accepted to have been a failure. Which is why bringing a diesel back was such a tough sell. Lots of skeptics INSIDE the company that had to be won over by the idea. And had it not been for this partnership/takeover, it wouldn't be happening.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. Things have changed. Personally QC isn't where I would like to see it, but it's vastly improved! I've said that a million times here. And the technology in all the stuff ChryFi puts out is second to who?.. So again, I (we) respect your concern, but weigh the facts and the all the variables of the equation. You'll find that none carry over from the past.

Re: 2014 diesel production

James,

To add one further note to Chevy's excellent post. From a Mercedes owner of an ML from which the infamous power plant came out of, I knew to avoid those things even in the ML. by 2009, that entire line of engines basically was completely reworked.

There are lots of people who got on with them fine but many who had the issues (and oil leaks) that you speak of. The VM Motori shares nothing with the engine you speak of.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Are the Estimated delivery dates in MOTs still valid at this point? Just trying to plan out my week next week.

Do they actually unload/load vehicles at every stop and put them on different cars or does your vehicle usually reside on the same rail car to it's final destination? The former would seem like exponentially raising the risk of damage.
