Re: 2014 diesel production

James, I agree with you about that engine. I had that engine in a Mercedes E Class I ordered...great car with a horrible powerplant. Constantly in the shop. Finally got rid of it at the end of the warranty period. Good riddance.

Like many here who've ordered the 2014 JGC with the VM Motori-built powerplant, I've done my research. The fact that Gale Banks Engineering is developing a MILSPEC variant of the engine speaks volumes about its ruggedness and reliability.

I am confident that this will not be a repeat of my previous diesel experience.

No, vehicles on a single railcar are bound for the same distribution yard. They stop and do rail interchanges to swap rail cars to get that combination to the next point and or drop rail cars that are at their final destination.

Is it possible that the few left at JS waiting for KZ status has to do with the mode of transportation.? My final destination is close to Toledo, so I would expect that I would go directly on a carrier. Possibly they are only loading all rail cars first, then go to road car carriers? Any others stuck in JS'ers out there -are your final destinations close relatively close to Detroit?

Chiv, you have an incredible yet humorous way of expressing yourself man.. It is imperative that you start a thread upon taking delivery, with nothing but emotion describing pics, and haikus capturing the entirety of the journey.

I don't know how you even find this stuff man! The guy sitting on the curb had me crying the other day. Lol.. You guys' use of the internet makes me feel like an old lady getting an iPad for her 100th bday. I just can't keep up... I just recently figured out how to quote multiple ppl in a post. I wanna do it all the time now.

Update on fuel economy.
I haven't put too many kms on my beast yet. After I filled the tank at 40km I observed the average rating and was pleased to see average hovering around 9.8. Then, with more stop'n'go traffic and letting it idle for people to hear, the average has crept up. The attached pic was taken about an hour ago. On the highway at 100km with just me in the car and on a straight level stretch , instant fuel economy displayed 5-7 litres/100km. I had it in EconoMode. I think once it gets a few thousand kms on it, I'll see it achieve advertised rating.

All these pics of people getting their Unicorns makes me even more antsy! Hope mine comes sooner than the estimated delivery date.
