Diesels will meet EPA ratings from day one. They will improve from there. It should be settled in by 45km (30k miles) and exceed ratings.

I would love to here what she does on flat ground at 100kmh and 120kmh. Keep us posted.

I am also interested in how close the computer mileage is to the actual calculated mileage. Thanks for sharing the info with us!

Why is that exactly? Just curious to understand the science behind it. Thanks in advance!

Looks fantastic! Wishing you many years of happy motoring!

As an aside, are you planning to add skid plates and/or rock rails?

All my diesels in the past have improved with age. My MB R-class continues to improve - even now at 250K(km)

I have always attributed this to the fact that despite the very limited break-in procedure, virtually every moving part within the drive train begins to seat and mate more closely with time, barring excessive wear of course. There are so many different components that are in motion at once that it is impossible or not economically viable to manufacture them to tolerances such that they all have 100% optimal fit. This only occurs over time as the parts work themselves together to a most efficient state, and as such the power required to overcome the friction of the moving parts also is gradually reduced, resulting in a more efficient system as whole.

My2c at any rate..

Re: 2014 diesel production

For all of us who're going to (hopefully) take delivery of our diesels soon, is there anything in the car we should get updated? I know the uconnect is not the latest version and can be updated (going to do that myself).

Anything else? TSBs, etc. that needs to be performed by the dealer? I'd like to ask my dealer to do all that stuff before I take delivery but need a little guidance. Thanks!
