My understanding is that 3M is coming out with a new paint film within the next 12 months to address short comings of the current (and aging technology wise) product and competition. Knowing them (as I worked there 35 years) the new product will perform well.

Just partial. Basically anything that has a forward exposure to rocks and debris.

Well I can tell you these small points right now, I will do a proper review next week after I get to drive it a bit.

-The engine is for the most part quieter than my ML320 Bluetec was with the exception of standing right at the driver or passenger door and there it might be ever so slightly more noticeable

-The Ride is way better than my ML320 was, smoother when it needed to be and firmer at higher speeds (more air suspension than diesel)

-Shift in comparison to my ML320 is also smoother (less noticeable).

You ask why all three comparisons are against a 2009 ML320 Diesel... Because I used to think that was the nicest driving diesel SUV on the road!

I've had my beast since mondAy morning.

Excellent ride. I'm impressed with the turning radius! The transmission, like Willx said below, is smooth as silk.
Fit and finish excellent. No rattles or squeaks. No fluid leaks. No smoke from the exhaust.
I had a 2000 GJC Limited with QuadraDrive (pretty sure it was QuadraDrive I) anyway, the quality of this vehicle is far superior. I can see why the reviews are so good and why sales of the GJC are so strong.

Blind spot - yes, visibility a little restricted but I got the tech package so I'm getting beeps and flashing lights every few seconds from blind spot and lane warnings. I really should try and keep my eyes on the road more and quit admiring the beast!! LOL

The learning curve on Uconnect is a bit daunting but I can see that it is an excellent interface.

I've been testing the Quadralift. Works perfectly. I have ORA II. Need a ladder to get in and out at that height. My build has the park level feature, where the vehicle lowers to entry/exit level when you put it in park(you can turn this feature on and off). Earlier builds didn't get this feature but I think all the diesels with Quadralift got it.

That's it for now. Almost time to head home. I'm going to take the long way.

Oh, speaking of Cat Piss... the burning electrical smell after your first little run in your CRD, NORMAL... It went away after a few minutes. You comment reminded me of this
