Re: 2014 diesel production

I believe it is marketing. Ok, it is obvious that the 2014 GC (all models) have been planned a couple of years earlier to get the eight speed transmission. Chrysler may have realized that to get the maximum benefit was to do a mid-life redo. Doing all that work for production was faster than doing a new Dodge Ram. I bet the diesel was already planned for both trucks.
But I also bet that Chrysler was not going to delay the introduction of the mid-life redo of the GC until the new Dodge Ram came out. Let's see, between January this year and September this year, there is eight months of loss sales due to NOT having the eight speed in the V6 and Hemi. Everyone would know that the eight speed was coming and would delay buying a GC with the five or fake six speed (Hemi). But introducing the re-design without also introducing the diesel would cause a loss of excitement. So, Chrysler decided to do it all early this year and then add the *late availability for diesel. But for a few fanatics here, most buyers would care the less. That is just my speculation.

Until then, the only FACTS I can go off of are the lack of EPA certification that someone found on the official gov't website and the email I received from Chrysler directly.

Those two items add up to a convincing argument if you ask me.
First of all, they are a business, and though it is frustrating, they do not need to let us know why the delay, but should have been letting us know when the release is going to occur. They finally put it in writing that it will be out in October. I too have a very reliable source, but am unable to release my source either, or I too will not be able to give accurate information. I know things are frustrating, as I am as frustrated as you, but hang in there, they are coming.

4jeepdiesel,

As a friend I feel your frustration and I know why you lash out. I can speak for Scott though that on certain things that come from "Sources" even if one of us hinted that we knew something that would be the end of it all. Our Source would be the one to loose his/her job and no more info. The same as Scott I share what I can but even though I often know some other things I cannot speak of them or you guys will loose all of the other benefits too. I was on the phone with contacts last night well into the evening about various things and 90% of what I heard would be career ending for me if I shared. But I can take what I know and help where I can, that is the deal.

It is just the way it is and Scott is very forthcoming so I suggest you just need to accept this as is, Scott's position is very legit.

Hey shannon, I 'WAS' a potential customer. Being told one thing, then another, then something else entirely.......It doesn't matter who you are OR who your SOURCE is. When shit happens, things change. Advertising an intention, or wish as if it was an actual schedule is stupid. When things happen/change, and they will, you will look like a jerk. To do this repeatedly? That IS incompetence. Or maybe Sergio and Chrysler actually LIKE imitating/being a .

This one-up-manship crap is going to backfire. If they screw up the ram diesel release like they have the Grand Cherokee. Gm might just beat them to the punch. And ....
This with a 2.8 liter diesel may beat them to market.

How's that for pissing in your oatmeal?
Hey Chrysler

Hey Chrysler! I'm the customer, you know the one with the money? The one that pays for your perks and bonuses, salaries, even the light bill. Advertising is a verbal contract, That is why there are 'truth in advertising' laws. We- thecustomer- understand when things go haywire. Hey it happens to everybody. But over and over and over? Either your incompetent or your trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Me, the CUSTOMER, has every right not to like what is going on,and in our free society will take "OUR" money somewhere else. You dicked around and lost your time advantage.

Re: 2014 diesel production

not gonna lie.....this is a debacle IMHO

and please accept my apology 4jeepdiesel for sounding harsh in my response. I did not mean it to be. I was on my cell and hate posting from it....so I cut it short and sweet. But you have questioned me several times and my sources or posts. I don't think Ive ever posted erroneous info. I research my posts and believe me....I have an EXCELLENT source on this. Honestly...there is no better source. Im not going any further than that...but if you look through the last 4 years here at JG...and what ive put together with engineer chats with the engineering group on the WK2 and WK2 SRT's....then that will give you a clue on my sources.

No need to apologize. I never judged YOUR credibility, just your source on this occasion (not the same thing). Yes, I have questioned many things posted on this site and others because there's been conflicting information. And, nobody is correct 100% of the time, not even you or Milous. For example, sometimes the guys on the line are seeing things first hand that other "sources" might not be aware of and vice versa.

Maybe we don't have a right to know about the cause of the delay but it sure would be nice for all of us consumers and salespeople/dealerships to not be told B.S. for 6+ months. Just think, if you brought in your rims to get chromed red because you need more red on your jeep and the guy told you it'll take 2 months. Then 2 months later you check with him and he says " uhhhh, they're not ready yet but you can be sure that you'll hear from me in a month". A month goes by and you call him and he says, "uhhhh, they're not ready but I think they'll be ready in another month". You check with him again in another month and he says "uhhhh, I think that you can call me in a month to place your order then we'll start working on it and then they'll be finished a month after that, then a month later you can pick them up".

Wouldn't you be curious as to what the problem was? Was it the chrome dip machine failure? Was the guy just a complete idiot and lost or damaged your rims and had to order new ones to replace them? Was the guy a complete liar and never intended on doing the work and he had to send them out to another shop? Or was he trying to sell you another set of red rims that you didn't really want?

Would you continue to want to do business with that shop without getting some good communication from them?
That's the point we are trying to make.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Eh, in 6 months, for many of us this will all be a distant memory of that one time you had to wait a couple extra months for your awesome GC. Everyone's got a story about their frustrations, but at the end of the day, you put yourself here, you chose to wait for this, because you decided it was worth it.
