One step forward , three steps back...
Wondering why my SFU departed the axle yard once on 10/28 and again 5 days later on 11/02 from the same place?

They are all steps forward. The double post at DA was a check. Casf-Conner is your distribution yard AND is the truck pick area so each of those last steps is closer to being on the truck.

If I test drive it and decide not to take it, no harm no foul. Based on what I've read in these threads there's probably not a snowball's chance that I'll walk out empty handed.

So, its getting close to time to slap leather and I was wondering the range of deals those about to take possession expect to get. The dealer said my CRD will MSRP for $47,085 and his first shot was that "he could sell it for $45,800" or 3% off MSRP. I know there's room to go lower but wondered what is the pricing norm for a new launch like this?

I wonder if some of you already have deals prior to delivery or what some of you are realistically expecting to pay, on a percentage basis, below MSRP?

And happy motoring to all!
You should negotiate from INVOICE not MSRP. A fair deal is 1% UNDER invoice... You can get invoice pricing for your exact build by doing some math on the numbers on this page:

I'm positive that others know more than I do and will share, but here is the deal I just completed last night - 3.2% below invoice (8.6% below MSRP). This was a very good deal, though others have gotten 5%, 5.5% and even 7% below invoice with the group buys. My deal was based off the Costco Auto program, and the group buys all required the affiliate program.

A good deal would be 1% below invoice (there is a buying thread 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing that can help you figure out invoice).

Good luck and remember that a good deal is what is good for you!

I don't know where it went from there.
I don't know whose Jeep I've been driving since March 14th.
I hope the one that left Jessup in March eventually finds a home.

Bill is correct. When it leaves the destination facility, sometimes there is no update after that (most of the time we do see delivered). When it leaves the destination yard, it is usually going pretty straight to the dealer (with some stops) but depends on the region.

RubberJeep, yours is a little different, it is being trucked to an Origin Yard. Similar to eglileg it will suddenly be on it's way and then we will know more.

I guess it's waiting for you guys... Hurry!!

Thanks, not sure how I missed that thread. Nevertheless if I'm doing the math right, the dealer is offering to sell at invoice.

I'll still see how much wiggle room he's got below that.

Shannon:
Did the dealer help you locate a motel and are they picking you up? I ask because I intend to order mine over Thanksgiving and was curious. Long drive to MN should give you a good idea of what interstate mileage will be.

I am excited about the diesel and have not even ordered yet but been a diesel driver and flyer for a long time...

Re: 2014 diesel production

Hi everyone. Very new here, trying to get my hands on my first Jeep! I was just wondering if anyone knows if the dealers will have actual inventory on their lots of the Ecodiesels soon? Contacted a few dealers and all they say is they will inform me when they get some in. I'm in NJ and most likely to buy from the first dealer that has what I want. Would love to buy before Christmas and hopefully before the snow! Thanks in advance.

Willx - does it look like mine may get any movement soon? It looks like a lot have shipped but there are quite a few stragglers out there. Thanks

Just remember, a good deal is what you are willing to pay for it. I was obsessively chasing the best deal possible when I asked a friend for help - it was more important for me to get my SFU sooner vs ordering so my good deal was $1800 above the best deal I could find and about $1000 more after you take travel time and cost into consideration. A happy wife was worth the extra $15/mo financed.

Good luck!

Re: 2014 diesel production

My dealership just called and my unicorn is in!!! I'm so excited to drive it!! Thanks to everyone on the site for all the wealth of info on pricing, PDI, tires, you name it. It's helped me a lot - especially since I am trying to do all of this research and prep without asking my husband for help
