....unfortunately is being pushed back to the 3rd quarter. From an excellent source. Sorry folks

It was nice to see them note that their observed fuel economy was above the sticker.

#3,777 · (Edited)
Yeah, well that review is questionable re: the fuel economy. Where did they drive it? Sydney or Melbourne CBD on a Friday afternoon?

We are currently sitting on 8.3. Next to none highway driving - it did get a 850km workout over the last two days of which that was maybe 3 hours of highway driving (110kms/hr), 2 hours of sitting in stop/start traffic and the rest, off main route country driving including hills.

The fuel economy is brilliant.

Congrats Will. All the very best to you both. :)

Congrats Will!

Now, get off the forum before your woman punches you in the neck for spending all your free time with a bunch of guys and not her...

Any chance shipping will start this week?

In the mean time...

I know we were all curious a few weeks back. I'm not sure what this means for our Jeeps with the Advanced Tech package, but it looks promising.

The 5th edition of the Owners Manual is available for download from jeep.com, and it includes detailed information about how the stop & go feature works with the ACC.

Looks like it'll bring you to a complete stop, and then go again if stopped for less than 2 seconds. That's a nice little upgrade to the system that was worth waiting for...

It funny that I took delivery of Summit V8 on Friday but I'm still tied to this thread, it’s like a good movie, I just want to see how it ends. I hope everyone here takes delivery of his or her vehicle soon. For those of you who have ordered the Summit or Overland with Technology package. I was able to relax in traffic driving home from the DC dealership with the vehicle doing most of the driving for me. Before I forget Congratulation Will and enjoy the ride!!!

Will, my wife says your wife must really love you if she can tolerate you obsessing over this thread and is still willing to marry you:lol:

Congratulations, Will! Best wishes.

Like Lilv2128, I am no longer in the GCD business. I keep coming here to check this thread because when I first started looking for a new SUV early this year, I was dead set on a HEMI. Now, I am a diesel convert, eventhough I ended up buying a different brand.

Same deal--very much wanted a GCD since early Spring but just could not wait out the delays--wound up getting a 2014 ML350 BlueTEC. I check back to see how this saga is playing out every so often--best wishes to those who have been patiently waiting.

Thank you everyone for all of your warm wishes, I very much appreciate it and it is further proof of the little family group that we have here.

I wanted to make mention of Shannon's comment about my wife being tolerant of time spent on the forum and yes very much she is. Camping is a big part of our lives 7 to 8 months of the year, so we are both looking forward to be back in the comfort of Diesel towing. On the other hand I did get asked once by her if she needed to post something here to get a faster response from me :D, so I need to keep balance of those scales!

Again thanks a lot guys, and please don't forget (or let others forget) you and me spend time here because we are entranced by a vehicle. Chevy and Marlon are good enough to help us with that.

Today is multiple runs to the airport, half of the family is from overseas!

Finally a status change on VOTS today! I'm in production :D Two questions:

- I went straight to paint, skipped frame... So what are they painting?
- Given no diesels are shipping, why do they keep making them? Storage capacity must be getting tight!

VOTS is only really updated once per day so the update missed your "frame" stage. It'll likely miss your other stages too and you'll next see it in "shipment." If you're in paint this morning your build will likely be done by this evening.

My gas Overland went this way. Then MOTS showed it depart the facility yesterday morning and disappear. Oh well. :)

i did some sluething of my own to find out what the REAL hold up is. apparently the '14 JGC diesel are shipped, but are being held up at the delivery yards of each destination city UNTIL chrysler receives the 50 state emissions certification. the 14's STILL have not passed (officially) EMISSIONS!!!!!!
Found this on another tread here. Is this even possible? Would think Milous would see KZ and movement on the trains. Still think the hold up is emissions, but it would be pretty hard to ship over a thousand unicorns without being seen.

If emissions or a government shutdown were the case, why wouldn't they be shipping to the land of the double double, poutine, maple syrup, toques, ketchup chips, Casey and Finnegan, Robertson screwdrivers, kraft dinner (not mac & cheese), Canadian Tire money, **** milk (not whole milk), pop (not soda), colour, honour, labour and the use of 'eh'. Enough obscure Canadian references?

Back on question, our goverment isn't shutdown (depending on who you ask and how you look at government but that's a different side bar). Would they not be shipping to Canada or have they not cleared our emissions here yet either?

#3,791 ·
Perhaps this was already answered here, but are we waiting for the government shutdown to end before our diesels ship? Or is the issue more complicated than that? Thx

Man, I've been away for a few months and just checked in to see what CRD production was like and to see if anyone had their rides yet. I agonized here from March to August waiting for a CRD but finally had to get another vehicle, and ended up with an 08 CRD, and I guess now I figure I made the right decision....BUT I STILL WANT A 14!!!! Hopefully them new ones will start rolling out to you guys and you'll be ecstatic in extolling all it's virtues! Me, I guess I'm gonna put a hundred or so thousand miles on mine and see what the market looks like in a year or two, hopefully this new CRD will just be the start of a bigger diesel revolution here.....keep them diesels coming Detroit!

Plus, I could probably unload him to some of the kids in the neighborhood, and offset the cost of my Jeep a few bucks. The only hitch would be if I end up having to pay to get rid of him...

#3,803 ·
Just called Jeep again, and still getting the "in 100% inspection" speech. Inspection since 8/27 - really??? :wtf: I told him that they could have driven this thing to Alaska and back by now. I asked about EPA certification, and he said they do not have access to that information. This is getting extremely frustrating. I appreciate everything everyone at JNAP does, but the customer service from above is piss poor at best. Jeep said this unicorn was going to release last March. Now, 7 months later, we still wait. Jeep knew the government was going to shut down. Why did they not get this in for certification in enough time so they could have it before the shutdown? Poor management at its best. :slapfight:

Milous has already said that the CRD delay is not related to the recent recall. So I am looking for a new conspiracy theory.

Not an expert on this so, of course, I could be wrong. However, I have heard that the dynamometer (thing they hook it up to to test real world conditions in the lab) testing for emissions is initially somewhat of a self test initially done by the manufactures themselves with the EPA basically trusting their results. However, if it is later found that the emissions readings were not accurate or not reflective of real world performance, then a fine and recall can be enforced. Which leads to:

Conspiracy theory #1 (already presented here recently): There is some type of last minute EPA certification or inspection, done by the EPA, that is needed for release or that will reduce liability if there is a problem. The needed EPA inspectors are on furlough and this just can't be done currently.

Conspiracy theory #2: Jeep is going to ship these all at one time and make sure that every dealer has some in their lot at the same time. Then they are going to start a large nationwide ad campaign advertising the "New Ecodiesel" and all of its benefits. So they are intentionally waiting so that a large number of these hit the lots at the same time to make it a big release. This would give us huge bragging rights for a few months being able to tell everyone "yep, I have one of those already, love it".

BTW: Just hit "paint" today, went straight to it. Very excited. Not as excited as Will but still excited.

Re: 2014 diesel production PROGRESS!! - maybe NOT

The Complete Story:
8/9 - ordered my diesel Overland (4x4, CRD, Granite Crystal/Black, ATG/ORA II & block heater)

8/12 - dealer provided the VON

8/15 - dealer advised VIN EC29998X. Also got my first email from VOTS confirming receipt of my order. VOT shows confirmed.

8/26 - called customer service, they advised my order was not yet scheduled. VOT shows confirmed

8/28 - called customer service, they advised parts had been scheduled. VOT shows confirmed.

8/30 - called customer service, no change in status. VOT shows confirmed

9/9 - dealer advised est'd ship date of 9/28. Also received my second email from VOTS advising my JGC was scheduled for production. VOT says production confirmed.

9/17 - called customer service, they confirmed est'd ship date of 9/28 with ETA at Port Allen Louisiana rail yard of 10/3. VOT says production confirmed.

9/23 - called customer service, they advised my order was scheduled 9/07 with est'd loading on rail car of 9/29 and revised ETA at Port Allen Louisiana rail yard of 10/5. VOT says production confirmed. LOST TWO DAYS

9/27 - received my third email advising my vehicle was in production. VOT shows my vehicle is in paint.

9/30 - VOT status jumped this morning from PAINT to FINAL INSPECTION. Customer Service comment du jour is that my JGC has been built but I won the lottery and selected for 100% inspection. Lucky me! They cannot tell me how long inspection will take but that my Port Allen ETA is still 10/5. Cannot get a window sticker for my VIN. Sounds fishy but smells more like BS......

10/3 - VOT still says FINAL INSPECTION
Customer Service hasn't changed their comments about my unit having being built and selected for 100% inspection. However, when I pressed for more info, they told me my status is JS - "shipped to storage". Still cannot get a window sticker. Hmmmm maybe the EPA rumor has merit

Estimated ship date is now 10/4 with unloading at Port Allen railyard on 10/5. This must be a WARPSPEED express train! Or, more likely, they system is not going to be updated until something starts moving again.

Info from VOT and customer service seems to be totally random and almost useless but at least it is fun trying to chase it down and reading everyone else's theories. Can't do anything much else til my ride gets here.

10/7 – VOT continues to say FINAL INSPECTION
Customer Service is still telling me that my JGC has been selected for 100% TESTING and INSPECTION “which will take some undeterminable amount of time but this will GUARANTEE that everything is 100% right when I get my vehicle”. Today’s rep said he couldn’t tell me anything else but then immediately said my status is JS and that my new estimated ship date is 10/19. He went on to say he wasn’t allowed/able to give me any projected ETA at the Port Allen railyard. The only thing that I can say is that Customer Service Representative information is consistently inconsistent.

To be continued……..

the sad saga continues....
10/11 - Today Customer Service advises my current estimated ship date is 10/25.

In the 4 days since my last update, my estimated delivery date has been pushed out 6 days. In the 3 days between my 10/7 and 10/4 updates, my estimated delivery date was pushed out 14 days. I see a trend here which says it is mathematically impossible for me to receive my 2014 JGC no matter how long I wait.

I blame top & mid Jeep Management! They have provided the absolutely worst possible customer communications regarding a production issue and the resulting delivery delay. This delay would have, could have, been a minor issue to many of us who've already placed our orders if we'd been given full & credible information. Management needs to call in some professional Crisis Communications Consultants to do damage control before the situation worsens and customers permanently migrate to other brands.

Well I think we can all agree on three things:
1) all if these delays were surprises to jeep as they said it'd be ready a while ago... This means at least a few inept individuals work at Chrysler in the head office
2) the latest delay has a "TBD" resolution date attached to it... This sucks and has given me the opinion that I should be potentially reconsidering taking a vehicle with this sort of stuff going on, if I find anything on my initial drive the chance of me not accepting on delivery has skyrocketed
3) we should be receiving better info from the company... No reason for us to have to look for these back channel communications from Milous and Chevy to know what's going on with our orders a month after they have been built and many months after they were supposed to be released

(End rant)

#3,809 ·
Talking to the "Customer Service Reps" is a huge waste of time. They know less than we do.

If I were king, I would have open communications with the dealers about product status. Chrysler doesn't owe us an explanation, they owe the dealer an explanation. We are buying from the dealer and they should be aware of delays and issues within reason. Sure, Chrysler is going to hide the dirty laundry....but at least say to the dealer "Its a xxxx issue related to yyyy."

Just as a follow up to the prelim. info I posted the other day abt the JNAP family day, it is indeed this Sunday Oct. 13th. NOT the following Friday (the 18th).

I emailed the address on the flyer and have not received a reply. (Why am I not surprised.)

However in talking to a number of people, I'm under the impression that it will be more than just a car show. No one said anything about areas being closed off or anything. It supposed to be a day for family to come see what we do. So to me that says, 'open house.'

I understand that most of you guys aren't in MI, and rolling the dice coming here, when you may/may not see what you really want to see isn't too attractive of an offer. I really wish they communicated better, but I can't control that.

Brainstormer was going to be in the Metro area that day anyway, so I have his spot reserved.. Anyone else who is still interested, pm me. :)
