It auto shifts down if your foot is off the pedal. You can downshift very nicely with the paddle shifters as well.

I found the setup similar to my ML320 Bluetec. The ZF has much more refined shifts than a 7 tronic though!

BTW, on your R series, was one of those oil leaks the rear main?? They had to drop my tranny out 3 times to get it right. It was there for over a week!!!

As Will said, it down shifts. Yes, you slow down without brake lights but not like you think. A diesel doesn't engine brake as well as a gas engine since there is not closed throttle plate to create a vacuum. It would be about like taking your foot off the gas going up a small hill. You slow down. There is no law against that nor is it unsafe. It is the following driver that is responsible for not hitting you when there is a speed difference UNLESS you are decelerating at higher rates....as in actively braking. If you had a manual tranny in a gas burner and down shifted, it would decelerate quicker than the diesel GC. You can always use your brake if you have concerns.

Shouldn't be the case... shipping is from origin, Toledo is your distribution yard.

Ding ding ding ding...

I don't think folks grasp this concept that well at times.

What assurances do you have that in 4 or 5 years, you will have the funds to replace the transmission, QL, UConnect... whatever?

And secondly, and most notably, by buying an extended warranty now, you lock in your repair costs. Look back 5 years ago and see how much a new tranny cost then (parts, labour, sales tax), compare to now.

It's like buying into the GET program for your kids (or grandkids) college. It locks the prices in now. I did this when my (now) 12 year old was first born. I'm paying the college rates from 2000. Care to guess how much it costs now?

Willx,

Seeing any semi loading, departure for my rig yet? I just went and cleaned the garage where the Jeep is going to park; I'm pretty much nesting like a pregnant woman.

Thanks.

VOTS won't even respond to me anymore. It just keeps running that circle that says 'loading'. Good thing we have MOTS...... Thank you, Guys!
