Come on guys... go easy on him, he doesn't know that shipment in VOTS means it has a piece of paper attached to it and is sitting in the yard WAITING!

Now if he was with you guys, he would know where it is and when it will be getting to his dealer. Based on his profile, that is going to be a 2 week head scratcher minimum!

(No offense Blinker, you are still the good guy)

Re: 2014 diesel production

Still waiting for mine to get out of final inspection, but I did read a nice article in Trains Magazine about how the resurgence of the auto industry is increasing business for the railroads and how they drive the vehicles on and off the trains. They had lots of nice pictures of the current car haulers and photos from the past. There's something beautiful about a rail car loaded with Ford Fairlanes or a variety of MOPAR bests from 1971.

One manufacturer actually shipped cars vertical (rear bumper at the top) so they could just fold the doors up and down to load and unload. That didn't last very long.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Hey I remember when I ordered a new Corvette and constraints would pop up for the short gearing or the color you ordered. However if someone told me that my order was being held up because some poor guy at the factory didn't order a piss tank in time, I might have questioned if I ordered the right vehicle.. Really this SUV is going to go over big and the price is going to only go up. I believe that GM owns half of this engine builder and has plans for a number of their cars with this engine.

GM sold their 1/2 to Fiat, so Fiat now owns the whole thing. I assume this means GM has no plans to use this engine, otherwise why would they sell it?

I recall reading that it's a done deal, Oct 31, I think.

Questions I asked.
Can I delete the sunroof completely (the big ass one on the LUXII package)?
Does the JGC come in Pacific Blue (as updated in our order section late Aug 13 I think)?
What is the longest extended warranty I can get given it is a diesel and lifetime is out?

Observation from a 20 mile drive. Some diesel racket at idle, not objectionable at all. Driving it was quiet at all speeds but never went over 65. You can display a digital speedometer (big points for my wife that is what she likes). Telescoping wheel really comes back far based on where I sit (another big plus for my 5'3" wife).

Plan to order this week and come aboard with the rest of the crowd.

I moved up to a lvl 4 membership before even knowing I would order one because I think I am diesel addicted. Last thing is the the LUXII package does come with the same light bucket that the Overland on up does.

Is there a compelling reason to get an Overland over a Limited when I don't really care about the various lift levels for off road since where I go off road is mostly sand?
I'll try to answer some of your questions:

-You cannot delete the sunroof
-No word on Pacific Blue
-7 years (I think, help me out guys)
-What do you mean by "light bucket"?

As for Limited Lux II vs. Overland, the Overland adds:

Interior-
-Leather and wood steering wheel
-Edge-welting on seats (nice touch)
-Leather dash and door panels (have a much nicer feel than the plastic/rubber on the Limited)

Exterior-
-Painted wheel-well trim and painted rear fascia
-Black honeycomb grille, chrome tow hooks
-Standard 20" wheels ($995 option on Limited)
-Puddle lights and power-folding mirrors

Capability-
-Quadra-Lift is standard and available with 20" wheels (comes in ORAII package on Limited)
-Quadra-Drive II is available without getting ORAII

Even if you won't use the Quadra-Lift for off-roading, it is still a cool feature to have and gives the Jeep a ride rivaling (and arguably surpassing) the luxury brands (Lexus, BMW, etc.).

Re: 2014 diesel production

I'm learning a whole new language. In Logistics Transportation speak what the heck does "OK from hold" status mean? Looking through everyone's build status I only see one other person that had the same status...

"Train Arrival 11/05/2013 10:23 AM EST On Railcar - Detroit North Yard, MI
OK From Hold 11/07/2013 02:16 PM EST On Railcar - Detroit North Yard, MI "

I just can't seem to escape from Detroit

I thought I read that gm plans on using a smaller VM diesel in the eastern version of the Chevy Cruze.
GM Brings European Diesel Engine to U.S. for Cruze - Bloomberg
Don't know it it happened but that would be a bummer if they only released one model with that engine. The more models that share that engine makes it easier to get cheap filters from US manufactures and replacement engine parts imported.
