I sold my 2011 JGC Hemi in August to upgrade to a CRD. It was a great vehicle, but the $5000/year for fuel was unacceptable. Fuel is expensive in the NW, I tow a lot, I need the off-road capability of a Wrangler, and want the refined ride of a nice highway vehicle. There simply aren't any other SUVs currently available that meet my needs that I'm aware of. So I wait....
I will also wait for my Diesel, 'cause I know it'll be worth it. But sooner would be nicer! We've had 3 significant snow storms already. My subaru is awesome in the snow, and runs great, but I was hoping to sell it while it still sells itself. My Birthday is mid December, so maybe I can drive my new Jeep by then ! (?).
Until then I will bask in the irony of knowing that my best friend from High School works as a chemist for California Air Resources Board, and may even be involved in the delay. Now THAT'S a small world!

Anybody else let their XM-Serius subscription lapse while waiting on their CRD? I saw no sense in renewing when I would be getting a new vehicle. Doesn't the GC come with a trial subscription? How many months?
Do you think the resent recall has anything to do with the hold up?
The Detroit News is reporting that the automaker is recalling the SUVs to address random warning-light illumination and instrument-cluster blackout. "Engineers discovered an issue in the vehicle's antilock braking system module that affects the instrument cluster display. The issue also has implications for the vehicle's ABS and electronic stability control systems, but Chrysler Group is unaware of any reported problems involving either," the automaker said in a statement.
Chiv, I got a set of TKC 80s sitting in the garage for you if the snow does indeed fly before you get your Jeep!
I hope these will not just be any old skittle farting unicorns, but thoroughbred skittle farting unicorns of only the best lineage when you guys finally get them.
Checking into this thread from time to time, man I feel for you guys still patiently waiting... enjoying my Jeep for 3 months now since "going Commando" back in May. The Hemi has plenty of scoot but she is a thirsty girl.
I realize this is a production thread but as most of us are built and in storage...I was wondering what thoughts are on the use of diesel fuel additives? I have allways used them. If there is a more appropriate thread to discuss this please direct me. Thanks!
Since I can't have my diesel now, at least I get to fly with Vtail to Detroit on Sunday to meet up with Chevy and Brainstormer to take a tour of the Jefferson North American Plant and see how the unicorn making machine works. Should be a fun trip. Looking forward to meeting other members from Jeep Garage and the people who build our Man toys (no offense intended to the women here). Maybe we can get Chevy to find our lost Jeeps.
Just got a PM from Vtail that Brainstormer sent. Too funny not to share with the rest of you.

Im just frustrated that I took out a loan a couple days before my est.... delivery date and now I have a check that I am expected to pay for with no vehicle. I think im going to have to void my loan ridiculousness
I hope Jeep allows something for those waiting patiently or not. Something like 0% for 60 months or 3 months no payments, or lifetime warranty for CRD's. Since I have been in 100% inspection for three weeks now, they should offer lifetime. Just asking (saying).
Just got my build sheet from Milous! It's sure nice to have and drool over, but I'm not sure it beats actually having and driving the car...
Milous, I think you should add a 5th level of membership - Level 5 members would get their cars shipped from you day after they're built I'm sure you'll have a lot of takers!
I listened to Octane on Sirius but beyond that it was never worth actually paying for beyond the 6-month free trials I got with my truck. I don't think my wife even knows how to get to the SAT radio in her Explorer
-Update from this morning - my sales rep called me this afternoon. He says my GJC was built on sept 25 and shipped to storage the same day. They called Chrysler to see what was happening with all their diesel orders. They were told, he says, that all diesels were on hold for 100% quality control inspection. He says Chrysler told them they are now ready to ship and mine is scheduled to go out on the 11th( of October). I don't know if that is bullshit but maybe I'll have my jeep by the end of next week seeing as Detroit to Toronto is only about 400km.
Then again, since we are talking about skittle farting unicorns, it might be the 11th of October 2014.

The only positive thing about our diesels being delayed is it gives me time to sell my car. Apparently an Audi TT is considered a summer car here in Michigan. So if anyone knows anyone looking for an all wheel drove second generation TT let me know.
"Dude! Check it! I boosted my CRD to 526 lb/ft of torque!"
"Awesome! Let's go for a spin!"
...
"What the **** was that noise?"
"No idea man, but your Jeep isn't moving anymore..."
Well to be fair, the 700nm (HP70... get it?) Is an input specification not a tolerance. Not sure if you guys know anything about German Specifications but it can likely stand a fair bit more.
Really you would be just shortening the service life of the unit if constantly running it at slightly over max rating like that.
Anyway, either way, I wouldn't recommend exceeding the manufacturer spec.
516 ft-lb is the limit, 526 is 1.93% more. I'd bet the tranny is underrated and has a safety factor in its rating. The rating is a "normal operation" rating. They can't make a mechanical device that can destruct repeatably within 2% intentionally if the tried!
Heat buildup is the major limiting factor anyways...and 10 seconds of pedal to the metal won't create much heat. Towing up a long grade with a heavy load can be very damaging. Anyone planning to tow should do so in lower power settings or stock.
I've eaten a stock tranny with a chipped diesel so I'm pretty familiar with the subject. My current tranny in my Diesel Excursion is built to handle 1400 ft-lb. It never exceeds 180 F under ANY circumstance. The stock tranny would hit 230 F while towing.
I plan to run the BlueSpark pro+boost in the GC...if I ever get mine.
BTW what does in a powertrain is usually a shock load (like a spinning tire that suddenly gets grip or terminal axle tramp and not the torque rating of the engine.
Excursion.... stop with the slow death towing comments... that is why I am buying one and you are giving me the creeps like all these people who asked me if I was nervous leading up to my wedding.
It is one of those things, if enough people ask you the same thing over and over it starts to make you think.... do I have something to worry about?
Will, keep it stock or dial the tuner down and tow within limits and you'll be fine. Its the idiots that chip their trucks, put tall tires on, and hitch up a heavy trailer and run flat out up a long hill that are smoking their trannies! Don't ask me how I know this....Lol.
So what are we all going to think when VOTs, MOTs or whatever says things are actually shipping to our dealers? Not quite sure I would believe it until my dealer told me its at their lot then I might start believing.

When MOTS says it is on a Train, Milous knows exactly what rail car it is on and where it is stopping to change cars along the way. VOTS will tell us nothing of those things. That is just one of the big reasons to be a Premium Member Level III or higher, we know when your vehicle is arriving before your dealer does.
MOTS has yet to lead me wrong, and I have tracked some vehicles for other people on here, from ramp to dealer....
