Ugg, I may end up with the same fate. Car was unloaded from train two hours away on Saturday. Now I am at the whim of some random trucking company.

Re: 2014 diesel production

So I finally got an email from my dealer this morning regarding my delivery and she is going to call me when it comes in so I can look it prior to PDI but would like to hear your guys thoughts on my trade. I don't really want to sell my truck on my own, just don't want the hassle so I'm trying to work out a trade after I've already worked out my deal on the CRD. But my issue is they're trying to screw me, in my opinion, on the trade. It's a 2004 Titan with 70k miles that blue books around 11,300 to 11,700 and they're saying 11k is the best they can do. It's been detailed and is literally in better condition then 90% of used vehicles on the lot. (I know, I'm biased because I'm selling it) but really it is in that good of shape. So my thought is to tell them they can either make a sale or gain a customer. There are other dealers I can have it serviced at, though they would be 70 miles, really only about 10 miles out of my way to work and there are plenty of places to have the oil changed other then a dealer. So any thoughts on other tactics to get them to come up the last $500? Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome...

I know the feeling, been unloaded since 11/7 and like you, my delivery date has come and gone. I can see the Jeep through the fence in the train yard 4 miles from my house...

Take the car to another dealer or two, maybe a Nissan dealer. They may give you a better price. If they are willing to buy it from the Jeep dealer, then tell the Jeep dealer that dealer "x" will give you "y" dollars. Then the Jeep dealer should take the price from dealer "x" and either sell it to them or just keep it for their used inventory. It may be worth a shot.

What kind of deal did you get on the Jeep? They often go hand in hand.

My dealer offered $500 less than CarMax was offering, but when one considered the tax savings the trade provided (in TX, taxable value is reduced by the value of the trade), I would have had to sell the trade for $1,400 dollar more to break even with trade. No brainer, the dealer got the trade, which was less hassle anyway.

See what CarMax will give you for it, but keep in mind that their values don't always include later adjustments, such as the title transfer fee for $150.

Take the emotion out of it, you are going to get $500 worth of smile when you drive off in the Grand Cherokee.

Yeah, in NE you reduce the sales price by the amount of the trade for tax purposes so it's like getting an extra 1k out of selling it. Now I think I could get 13k if I wanted to go through that hassle, but I really don't. And on the other hand, I'm not going to just give it to the dealer to make all the profit. As far as my deal, it was 3% under invoice, so good, not great and another reason why I'm not just going to give in on the trade.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I have to tell everyone how proud I am of being a garage member. When I joined the group less than a year ago, I did not know what to expect. In that time frame, I have met many people, met strangers who became my friends who flew me on a trip to the factory, made quite a few other friends, have been helped by strangers, and friends alike, and been able to help out other strangers that have now become friends. This is a wonderful place, and I want to take this minute to say "Thanks" to all for being my second family over this past year. You are a great group of people.
