Re: 2014 diesel production

Picked up my GC this evening in between conference calls. Have only had the luxury of driving home in bumper to bumper traffic. At least I know the ACC with Stop works! The closest setting can be a bit unsettling.

Will post a full review after a week or two of driving her around to show off to everyone, and will post pictures tomorrow.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Picked up the Jeep today. I was expecting the worst after seeing all the issues others had. Not a single thing wrong that I could find, the dealer even had the diesel and DEF fully topped off and Jeep was spotless.

I didn't think I could like maximum steel any more than I did previously, so happy with the color.

Other than the quadra drive 2 system (which you can get separately, we did) what's the difference? ORA is skid plates and QD2 isn't it?

I like the look of the 20s much more than the 18s. And to be honest, I didn't buy this for "serious off roading". I certainly wouldn't spend that kind of money on a vehicle that would get beat up on trails. It will be an every day driver and the occasional hauler.

I know you can build it online with 20s, but apparently I couldn't order it that way. I just wanted some affirmation that I'm stuck with the 18s though I'm not a fan of how they look. And the ORAII is WAY more than just skid plates.

The only difference are the Skid-Plates, Quadra-Drive and Slec-Speed. Many of the ORAII options are standard with the Overland (air suspension, Reciver Hitch, Hill Decent Control, etc...I was looking at the same thing that you have in your signature block...but I couldn't justify the additional 5K for the Overland (which forces you to purchase the Tech package) so I went with the fully loaded Limited. The Slec-Speed is currently unavailable if you get the EcoDiesel...its only available with the Hemi. So technically "yes" the only difference are the "Skid Plates" which you can get most if not all through a Jeep Dealer for around $500.

Heres what it says on the Jeep Website thats in the ORAII:

Trailer Tow Group IV
  • 7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
  • Class IV Receiver Hitch
  • Delete Rear Tow Hook
  • Rear Load Leveling Suspension
  • Full Size Spare Tire (Unavailable with some configurations)

  • Heavy Duty Engine Cooling (Unavailable with some configurations)
- Front Suspension Skid Plate
- Fuel Tank Skid Plate ShieldThe fuel tank skid plate shield helps protect your fuel tank from rocks and on-road debris.
- Quadra-Lift™ Air Suspension
- Tow Hooks
- "Trail Rated" Badge
- Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield
- Underbody Skid Plate
- Electronic Limited-Slip Rear Differential (Unavailable with some configurations)Electronic limited-slip differentials can rapidly transfer up to 100 percent of available torque to any wheel, along each axle.
Quadra-Drive II® 4WD System (Unavailable with some configurations)The Quadra-Drive II® 4WD system provides advanced control and capability. So my order that was placed on 10/22 for a Deep Auburn SFU was instead ordered as Deep Cherry Red which is the dealers mistake. Now I have a new order that was placed with the correct options. It drives me crazy to think that I may have to wait an additional 3 weeks now for it to arrive. I hope I'll be able to get it before Christmas. I'm still waiting for an email from Chrysler for VOTS and any update I can get from MOTS in the meantime. *pulling hair out*... In any case, if anyone is looking for a deep cherry red Summit CRD w/ jeep brown interior, there is one that will be heading to Koons in VA in the near future (think DC metro group buy 7% below invoice).

You are absolutely correct that the ORII has WAY more features, and ALL of them are for off roading, and will be of minimal use on road. I understand that some people just like to have their toys (Yes, I am one of them)

Congrats! I think you are the first from the group in MA to take delivery. My Jeep left on a truck to the dealer last night, so I'm just a few days behind you. Can't wait for your review.

Update: Dealer called - we have arrived at the dealer.

I would argue that rotors might need to be replaced as well for the same reason unless they are covered under warranty. You don't want to come back 6 months later with vibrating steering wheel when you step on brakes.

Yeah I guess it depends on what trim level you get. With the Overland it seems to be basically just plates but on other trims the ORA adds a lot more.
