Recon ZJ (Summit CRD - Deep Auburn)
Date ordered: 11/20/2013
Current Status: I
D1 status date: 11/27/2013
Estimated delivery: 12/27/2013
Built - Pending Inspection: (I) 12/18/2013 08:34 PM EST Detroit Jefferson Assembly, MI
Adv Ship Notice to Dest Ramp 12/18/2013 09:59 PM EST Avi - Vls Charlevoix Yard, MI

Delivery before Christmas might be tough but delivery the week after could be a reality. You can review the Milous logs for delivered GCs to get an idea of transit time. It varies slightly, but the range for most coming to Houston is 8-12 calendar days once shipped from JNAP.

Once it is at the Houston area yard, make sure Mark knows you want it ASAP, sometimes they sit for a few days at the terminal. That is not the dealership delay, but they can help expedite.

Mark and his crew do a good job but don't leave anything to assumption at make-ready and delivery. Make-ready will only update what the Chrysler computer system reports the vehicle is due. For example, if you want the latest radio software update done, be clear about, it may not show up on the computer. Communicate clearly your expectations and Mark will follow through completely. Common examples are do not install front tag bracket, leave interior plastic in tact, fill DEF, fill fuel tank, etc.

Good luck, you will definitely enjoy the new Jeep. I am local, so PM me if can assist while you are in town.

Thanks, Brainstormer! I needed to give Mark a call about something else, so will add this to the list. And, thanks again for all the other info you and Shannon have provided here!

Great info!
This will be my 2nd WK2 I've bought from Mark, so I am definitely going to touch base with him about several of these - especially the front bracket.

I've got an estimated delivery date of the 27th.

Re: 2014 diesel production

We ordered our new diesel on 11-21 and have been sitting "in production" forever. I called the 800 number today and they told me oh yea it has been built and entered into 100% inspection on the 16th. Does anyone know how long the 100% inspection will take? Also, does anyone know how long it normally takes to ship to MD? Thanks!

Brainstormer spent most of the morning picking up his SFU. Thanks to him, I was able to cut down my time at the dealership to just over an hour. He prepped Mark as to my expectations, and gave me a list of the problems he had. Glad he did this, as it made the transaction go smoothly, and since we had a road trip ahead of us, I really appreciated everything he did. Again, thanks a lot Jerry!!!

100% inspection only takes an hour or two. Problem is that you can be listed as "in inspection" for awhile. Once in this stage, your Jeep is built, has gone thru quality control, and is probably sitting in Charlevoix Yard waiting to be loaded on a rail car.

Re: 2014 diesel production

For the Houston crowd which I am one of I think they are holding many of yours to fill a lot of the train cars headed south. I too am supposed to see delivery on the 27th of DEC but I am very skeptical mine will make that date since it would need to be loaded tomorrow or the next day even though I understand it is built and inspected.

I would appreciate any information I can provide to Mark to let him know what I want like no front plate, latest sw for the UConnect, etc.

I am glad to see that the turn around is running so much quicker than you initial guys with the patience of Jobe...

Tell him exactly what you expect: No front plate, DEF full, washed and ready to go, UConnect update to the newest version 13.48.3. And make sure to tell him that you want this done BEFORE you get there, because he likes to do this stuff when you are doing the paperwork, then you just wind up waiting around. I was very clear of my expectations, and he had everything done that I had asked. He is a great guy to work with, you ust let him know your expectations.

I am not impatient but had expected based on averages to see movement especially if others ordering the same day have movement in 8 days...
To you and everyone else, it all depends on a ton of factors. It can come down to a single opton that's holding you back that adds extra time while the supplier catches up with demand (one of the other vehicle lines is having a heck of a time keeping up with wheels). Then again, you can time everything perfectly. I am witnessing on another forum a vehicle go from order to, if everything holds, delivery in 22 days (it's on the truck from the plant to the dealer now). Nothing special about that order either as it was a regular customer order.

That's why they are called averages. Sometimes you come in higher, sometimes lower.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Agree. What is strange is that the prediction is that it will be in Houston by the 27th of DEC. I know they must be loading some rail-cars for shipment but it seems to go from over estimating to underestimating the delivery time.
I know this much Jeep is miles ahead of Subaru when I ordered my Outback last year. I never got an update what so ever unless I called which I did maybe 3 times. No way to track anything online and calling SOA was not helpful either. The only way I knew I had a vehicle coming is when I got a call from my dealer.

Jeep's site and MOTS make the process so much better.
