And then remind him again when they get the vehicle.

They dropped the ball with mine. I have four ugly holes in the front where they put the license plate holder (I had told them not to do that), they had not updated the uconnect, it wasn't washed, and the tire pressures were wildly different. I had them wash it, adjust the tire pressures, and update the uconnect. The four ugly holes cannot be un-done. Grrrrrrrr. On the plus side, the DEF tank was nearly full and the fuel tank was full.

Congrats. I'm still living vicariously through everyone, but I'm getting closer. I should be able to order mine by the end of the year, if the dealership doesn't have the one I want.

Re: 2014 diesel production

My SO never even road in the JGC yet but I did have her start it up so she could hear it.
My delivery is supposed to be 27 DEC but there is no way that will happen.
Still it will be a joy to have. Back into a diesel again after a 1 1/2 year time frame without one...

I'm thinking you might be able to beat the ordering time. The larger dealers have been getting in unsold vehicles starting weeks ago. I had to sit tight till a few days ago because I wanted the auburn/brown and that isn't a commonly ordered stock vehicle but I did get one on the ground. On the plus side since I wanted a summit the color was really the only option I had to worry about. I would think depending on your options you may be able to find one soon or even be able to find it now. Particularly something like a granite/black summit which I have found several of on the ground and seems to be a (relatively) common stock order.

Since mine is headed to Houston I sent Mark an email and asked twice in my bullet point list to make sure they did not put on the front plate. Along with filling the DEF and the gas tank. Also not washing it and leaving the plastic on the floors.

He said "he'd do his best to make sure they didn't put on the front plate" for which I replied again and asked him to make sure they don't since it's the one that can never be undone.

I'll be sending him another note later this week to reiterate this.

All my $$ and insurance is in place - so now it's just time to pick up the SFU. Maybe it'll get here on Saturday, or the 6th.

Thanks to all who went had suggestions for what to get done before delivery.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Is it normal to not receive any emails for the first few weeks after ordering? This is the first car I've ever ordered so I don't know if I should have received an initial email, or just waiting for a "Your new vehicle is scheduled for production." email. Ordered on 12/20.

Thanks
Zach

Re: 2014 diesel production

Yes normal. Scheduled for production might take anywhere from 1 week to many weeks.

Glad you are going to get your SFU soon. Mine has been sitting for 12 days since built with no plant release yet. My estimated delivery date is still showing 28 DEC so not sure what is going on. No ZK release either.
I just need to know when so I can schedule a flight a day or so later for pickup, book insurance and send Mark a to do list similar to yours...

I picked mine up a little over a week ago in Houston, unfortunately it rained that day so I couldn't tell if they actually washed it but it really didn't matter at that point. I followed up with Mark as soon as MOTS showed it was on truck to dealer to make sure the front license plate wasn't installed, and he made sure that it wasn't which I very much appreciated. I did find it a little odd that when I picked up the Jeep Mark didn't handle much of the transaction and we had very little interaction. Not a big deal I suppose just an observation and maybe he was just busy. I basically sat around waiting for my turn with the finance guy. Also, I had to fill up the tank with diesel on my own but they did offer to reimburse me if I gave them the receipt. UConnect update was done while I was waiting (I didn't request this beforehand) and I later realized they hadn't updated it to the most recent version; this was fine as it gave me a chance to try updating it on my own.

Thanks man. I'm sure you were feeling like me since we had a similar delivery trajectory up until this week. I'm tired of waiting and I'm looking forward to getting her and to stop putting so many miles on my Infiniti. Hope yours pops soon and it gets heading this way!
