I need to contact Mark, and I'll probably make arrangements to fly in week after next (around the 21st) to pick it up (project issues at work necessitates the slight delay). So instead of this being my Christmas present, it'll be my birthday present!
Congrats! Mine got delivered to the dealership today as well. I gave Mark a call and if all goes as planned I will be picking it up in the morning.

Wow, now that I do not have to check MOTS 20x's per day, I kind of don't know what to do with myself. I guess my productivity at work should go back up.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Picking mine up tomorrow too. It has been about 4 weeks since I ordered it so I guess that is far better than some of the posts I am seeing. This is my second trip to the dealership because maybe 2 months ago my son got his. He was on the original orders where he waited months and then they sat in the lot for the longest time. But he finally got it and the few times I had the pleasure of riding in it I am sure that I am going to be very happy with it. He only has had one little issue on the GPS thinking it was off the road when he was on it but he was in jersey at the time so perhaps that had something to do with it.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Again congrats guys. It is purely the luck of the draw why some make 4 weeks and some like me are 7-8 weeks. I just wanted to pick it up before leaving town. Yep JGC arrives on the 17th I depart on the 16th so there it sits for 2 weeks.
Enjoy you guys. Looking to hear your stories on the pick up and impressions on the whip after a few miles...

Well, my delivery date still shows Monday, 01-13-14, when in fact it arrived late last night per MOTS; likewise, Grandmaster's still shows as delivery on the 14th, and was also delivered late last night. So, it seems that you could still see it arrive before its estimated delivery date.

I did speak with Mark today, and let him know that I'll be there week after next to pick it up. That'll give them plenty of time to perform a thorough QC, fill the DEF tank, etc. before I arrive, which he said he would make sure happens.

I started using an app on my Android phone called Fuel Log from the first fill up. It tracks all kinds of stats including lifetime milage, costs, etc. It takes less than a minute to enter the info at each fill up. I'm sure there is something similar for iPhone. It has nifty graphs and charts as well as stats.

For you guys coming to Houston for one of Mark's deals, let me know if I can be of assistance. I am out and about most days, so I may be able to help with an airport transfer here and there. PM me your schedule and I'll let you know if it's a possibility.

Here are some other hints and suggestions:

Communicate clearly with Mark on what you do and don't want done to your new Jeep. If you want to get out quickly, ask Mark to do the make ready the DAY BEFORE you arrive. He will do everything in his power to satisfy you, but keep in mind the Chrysler computer system is not always up to date on every new unit.

If you want the latest radio software upgrade, bring it with you on a flash drive. If the dealership was not authorized (by computer check) to do the upgrade, you can do it yourself.

If staying at hotel the night before, morning rush can be a nightmare around Houston. If you stay out at the big airport (IAH), expect 45-60 minute commute to the dealership at rush hour (6:00am to 8:30am). If near Hobby, it's not that bad but gets very congested as you near the dealership.

It may be less frustrating to stay close to the dealership the night before. The closest hotel is Crowne Plaza River Oaks, which is about 3/10 mile away. Negotiate the best rate by telling the reservations clerk you are in town to visit major engineering firms, drop the name of the one that rhymes with jacobs.

Don't expect a lot of driving space for a test drive. The area around the dealership is very congested. Depending on time of day, you may have to travel 15 miles to get to open highway.

No matter which direction you will be leaving town, you want to be on the road by 2:00pm, especially on Friday.

Some tollways out of town are EZTag only (no cash lanes), be sure you get in the proper lanes. On I-10 west, there are at least 6 lanes to choose from. From pay to free, sometimes they are all stop and go during rush hour.

If you have a long drive with a passenger, you might want to have a tablet or laptop with the new Jeep PDF manuals loaded. The passenger can learn how to adjust things while you drive.

I would not expect the need, but if you have a CRD and traveling 1000+ miles, purchase a quart of oil to have with you -better safe than sorry.

In the Houston area Shell and Exxon have the best quality diesel. Valero has some of the cheapest gas prices. Buck-EES has the cleanest bathrooms however. If you have never been to Buck-EES, be sure to stop for anything.

There is an app, Rest Area Finder, that provides locations of all interstate rest stops as you travel; it comes in handy for quick stops. For CRD buyers, this especially useful as you will not be stopping for fuel often.

Congrats to all on their NEW JEEP GCS purchased through River Oaks. You will not find an easier auto purchase transaction.

Safe travels...
