Re: 2014 diesel production

Brainstormer
Will send you a PM and would like to take you up on getting to the dealer. I am going to get stuck in rush hour traffic as I don't even get in until 1:30 pm. I am betting I will be stuck in rush hour traffic when I get done with Mark. He will have ample time to have everything done ahead of time since my whip arrives around the 17th-ish and I don't arrive until the afternoon of the 4th.
Appreciate all the advice looking forward to getting this done finally.
Thanks

Don't take for granted that if they have it on hand that they will get it ready. Mine was the first CRD In Texas, but it sat at the unload yard north of town (Spring) for 4 days over mostly a weekend. I left it with dealer the entire following week because I was busy, but I also wanted them to take their time with the make ready. They started on it when I arrived on Friday at noon. I was there for almost 5 hours.

My point is don't take anything for granted. Be specific and ask detailed questions about what, why, and WHEN. Being a nice guy will not assure timely anything. Be fair but be thorough and put everything in writing. You will find great satisfaction in the delivery of your new Grand Cherokee.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Good advice
Trust me I WILL be contacting Mark ahead of time and make it clear when I arrive I don't wish to wait. I want all the things done which I will call and email to make sure and before I step on the plane call Mark to let him know when I will be there.
I think this is an excellent dealership but the squeaky wheel get the oil so to speak...

I guess I must have had the luck of the draw because mine only took about four weeks. Would have been less if it had not set here and there for two and three days getting to Vegas; oh but it still arrived two days early.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Thanks to Brainstormers advise, my wait time was cut from his 3 hours down to just over an hour at the dealer. We were on the road before 10 am. But I gave Mark a very detailed list of my expectations, then called him the day before and reviewed my expectations. Plan on having to fuel it up yourself and bring the receipt back. When you pull out of the dealership, turn right, go a block and there is a Shall diesel station on the left. If I recall correctly, the station right next door does not have diesel. Thanks again Brainstormer for all the help you are giving here.

Make sure you if you want the latest uconnect version you ask/tell him about 20 times...because he did not do it on mine.

I'll be doing the update later today.

I'm loving it so far my only complaints thus:

DEF gauge not working (I have no idea if they actually put in fluid since it reads 0 or 100).
Mileage being wonky after I put in 20/g on Friday night and it showing as 420 to empty. I'm going to take a longer drive around town today, hopefully then I can see something more realistic
And the uconnect update.

That wonkiness will go away after a few tanks. Each new tank calculates the range on the last. With mostly mixed driving, mine now averages near 600.

I picked mine up yesterday morning. I think they may not be aware that there is a newer version of uconnect. I did not ask for mine to be updated, but they told me they updated it. It was on the previous version. I just finished updating mine. It was pretty painless.

My DEF gauge reads 100% as long as the engine is running. If it is not it reads 0%. Another weird thing is if the engine is not running the oil life says something like 41003 miles since last reset.

When I filled up, the DTE only went to something like 455 miles. But I also noticed in the trip meter that my vehicle had went 4 miles in 4+hours and the avg eco was 18.1. Apparently they do a lot of idling before they get to us. I think the DTE is calculated off of this and why it starts off so low. When I pulled into my driveway last night, now with 208 miles on the clock, my DTE was reading 430 miles, and the fuel gauge was still a tad over 3/4 tank!

I am loving the Jeep so far.

Re: 2014 diesel production

The UConnect update uses a USB to download?
I can go to the entire thread and will but just checking. No point in asking them to update this when I can do it. But all the other stuff I do hope to have done before I arrive since it will be sitting for days before I get there.
DEF full
Tank full
No drilling of front bumper
Cleaned interior and exterior (I will detail it when I get to Florida)

Plan to shoot Brainstormer a note when I know the whip is at River Oaks and see if he minds dumping me off there from the airport.

Looking for the write ups from you guys when you get more miles. I will be putting about 600 miles on mine in one day so will get some idea of how she is by then...

Yes, you need to download the file and put it on a USB flash drive.

They will not fill the diesel. Apparently they do not have it on site so they tell you to just fill it up yourself and come back and give them the receipt or scan it and send it to them and they will reimburse.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Just did the uconnect update. Painless and seamless. Took about 15 minutes.
