Something to do with blocking people from "chipping" the engine to emoprove proformence but put more stress on the engine. Maybe a way to track if people have done it? So they can offer that life time warenty
Um, we will say that it is part of them being released.... That is about all I can say on that... other than we knew this was going to need to take place.
Is there any reason why some of us don't have locations other than Built - Pending Inspection: (I) date and time. Detroit Jefferson Assembly, MI and some have adv ship notices and other locations?
StarScan and StarMobile haven't been the current gen Diag tool for quite some time. The WiTech is the current gen. Don't think that info about the Diag tool is accurate. Good luck to all you diesel folks.
Ok, Don't want to take this too far down the dealer tools path.... WiTech is a Diagnostic Portal that uses WiFi to talk to the Vehicles. You can use one of the various connections like a POD on a "Laptop Computer" to remotely work with a vehicle but generally speaking, a StarMobile or POD is used to connect to the WiTech Access Point to program or diagnose problems with vehicles. As the POD or StarMobile are only used as a com device, varied versions on the other end don't really matter. Think of them as a universal OBDII to either WiFi/Ethernet.
The above statement is entirely related to any hints so don't read into it too much. More just trying to describe the Scan Tools other purpose.
Yes works with WiTech but not supported on all vehicle. Granted most but not all and I said nothing about not being supported or not working with WiTech just that it's not the current generation scan tool for Chryslers.
Scan tools know the gov required "standard" parameters and there are a lot of them. However there is a further set of "enhanced" parameters that mfrs share only with designated partners and under an NDA/PIA.
Good examples are the oil pressure and oil temperature values which are available on the EVIC but are non-standard CAN-BUS values.
That's awesome that you guys got to tour the plant. I have seen the plant from the outside but have never been inside. I would like to know what is the most interesting thing that you found out that you didn't know before the visit?
I was impressed with the extensive use of automation that keeps the line moving. But that automation means nothing if the parts are not staged timely and correctly. Marlon plays a big role in parts delivery to the line.
Keep in mind that the production line includes Grand Cherokees of every different trim level and engine choice as well as a few Durangos mixed in.
Seeing the process offers a deeper appreciation for what happens in mere hours in the life of our Grand Cherokees.
I think the most impressive thing in the plant is that both Durangos and Grand Cherokees are built there. You will see every mix and every color of both makes on the line. Might have a Silver Laredo, next is a Red Durango, Next is a Black SRT, next is a White Overland, Next is a silver Durango....... Very impressive that they are truly built one by one.
That is the thing that amazed me as well. Each engine, each car, each trim, each color, mixed one after another, rather than running all of one kind at a time. The workers have to pay attention to what they are building at that particular moment and make sure they take the right parts from the right bin and put them in the right place. It was also interesting to learn that Venezuela won't allow imported cars, so Jeep sells them the parts, kind of like a kit, and they are assembled by hand, one at a time. You could see the parts going to Venezuela sitting in special pink racks. The sheer size of the plant is overwhelming, and we didn't even get to see the whole thing.
OK gang, after working in it for 2 nights of nonstop work (and an ignored upset wife), I have finally downloaded, filtered, edited, uploaded, and created a new thread that has the pictures of the Jeep plant tour. Hats off to the guys at JNAP for this awesome experience, and a special thanks to Chevy for the personal tour, and Vtail for the flight. The new thread in in the WK2 forum and is called "JNAP Plant Tour". Hope you enjoy :readthethread:
I ordered my JGC diesel on Sept 24th and received an email stating it would be in "Production Scheduled" for up to 2 weeks. It's now been 3 weeks and nothing has changed. Anyone else take this long on theirs? I'm not sure what kind of timeline to expect...other than it takes forever to ship...
It can be longer than 2 weeks; I would expect a change within a week or so. MOTS is MUCH more accurate though if you want to become a premium member level III or higher.
The i's are doted and the t's are crossed. Most of ours are ready to ship. Should be any day now. Trust me, Milous and Willx will let you guys know the second they find out shipping has started.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
