I'd argue those stooges should be last! They got a dream trip, got to tour the plant, and even see at least one of their vehicles. They've already been treated with super-VIP treatment! Why should they get even more VIP treatment?
And vtail ... hell he's got a freakin' plane to occupy him. :slapfight:
Hope you're not talking about Shannon. He should be first before anybody, with vtail right behind him (And I mean like RIGHT BEHIND HIM!!!!). I'm not sure about you, Brainstormer. I'm not sure if you were one of the first NAFTA builds!
In case it wasn't obvious - my posts, and I'm assuming Brainstormer's too, were in jest (unless of course a sad story and some shipments of beverages would indeed move me to the head of the line, in which case i was totally serious! :lol.
I think mine was one of the first in what we now know as "JS" that is being tracked. It went though inspection to the yard on 9/6 at 6pm. Shannon's paint was still curing when they rolled mine by. His went to the yard 9/7
Sorry, mine was the FIRST garage members CRD off the line with a build date of 8/28. Yours should be slightly behind mine. Doesn't matter anyway, I think they will all be released within a day or two or each other.
I am coming out of an Audi that I had mapped through APR, a high-and German car tuner company. Yes, the tune was initially exciting to have, and a thrill to know that I was driving something "special." However, it's been stressful every time I take it to the dealer. I had a fouled injector as well as a failed coil on separate occasions. For each of them the dealer had to send my engine's data file to Audi to keep on record . If course, they saw the mapping and my car is now "flagged." The dealer and I found this out after they later replaced the coil, so they covered that repair - luckily.
My point is that with a mapped engine, even mundane issues turn into voided warranties. While the mapping probably won't cause your engine to fail, stuff goes wrong and you suddenly have an unpredictable liability on your hands. The stress is annoying too - I wasn't able to enjoy my mapped engine because I was afraid to push it hard.
I plan to keep my unicorn for a long time. I'm even considering buying the extended warranty. I don't think the chip is worth the potential troubles it may cause.
I am guessing Milous and Willx will post it here first. I would imagine they probably could not contain their excitement in updating a hundred MOTS lists before notifying the masses. Time will tell.
The waiting through this whole process has been very painful, I like many of you have been waiting to receive my new vehicle since I understood that the diesel would again become available. I have watched and read everything that I can find relative to production finally after so many delays and then build , my unit too has been built for a month.
My first experience with a Jeep diesel was with a 2008 GC , it was a true delight , the performance truly amazing. I parted with it early this year in anticipation of the soon to be released 2014.
Thanks to all of you for your avid pursuit of knowledge in regard to the new diesel units, I have appreciated all of the antics obsessing and sometimes downright crazy discussions as we pass the time and wait.
I have not posted very often but I check the site a few times a day in anticipation of the release.
I really am hoping that we will be able to receive these vehicles in the near future, and I am also sure that it will have been worth the wait.
A few weeks ago one of you posted the Blues Brothers clip, that was funny and it made me laugh , I have enjoyed this but I really do want to end the waiting and start driving my new Jeep. Lets hope we are able to do so in the next few weeks.
Imax, welcome to the craziness! I certainly hope we all receive our CRD's soon. I get anxious when I check on here every morning to see if they have shipped or not.
I am getting nervous, snow might be flying soon and I'm not taking any of my current vehicles out in it!! I need my winter vehicle!
Most of us ordered over 2 months ago. I had a week long vacation planned in September, and another week of vacation that starts today. I did not make any family vacation plans for the vacation last month, since mine was built, I thought I would be able to fly to Texas to get my Jeep. When that came and went, I thought "no problem" I can go in October, and at the time, thought there is no way this thing will be delayed that long. Well, now we are on to my second vacation, and here we sit. It really kinda sucks that I gave up going on trips in hopes of getting my unicorn. Alas, Sergio lets me down again. Love the Jeeps, think the guys working at JNAP are awesome, but HATE the customer service and delays from corporate. Jeep is lucky they make such a great product, or I would be shopping elsewhere. So here I am, my first day of vacation, and I will be stuck obsessing over my unicorn that should have been in my garage by now.
You are all going to love this. I was going to contact Jeep customer service (just to bug them again), and I went to the Jeep website for the phone number. I click on the contact link, and here is what I get (scaled down the picture to enlarge the words)
Then I click the link below that for contacts, and it brings me back to the same page.
Obviously customer support is getting reamed by customers wanting their Jeeps. Rather than telling the truth as to why the delay, they just shut down.
Yeah I was really hoping my Jeep would hit the lot before the end of the month and I would have some bargaining power on my trade but if it doesn't ship by tomorrow I don't see that heappening. Though I am with a few others here, if they don't ship this month I may be canceling my order and either look elsewhere or just waiting a couple month and reorder again if they're offering discounts to move them. I thought there was light at the end of this tunnel when we could order, and then when they stated production and even when mine was built, but the longer we go the more it appears that is the reflection of the on coming train...and no, it's not hauling our new CRD's, they're still sitting in a lot collecting bird crap.
My phone alerts with every new post on this...and I check hoping its shipment confirmation. I have a roadtrip planned for thanksgiving back to ann arbor MI from dc. Think any of us will be driving our new gc by then
Hey Guys, brand new member here. I'm sorry if this is covering old ground as I did not go through various threads but has a reason been cited for the delay of the 2014 Ecodiesels? I ordered a Limited 4X4 Ecodiesel back on 8/5/2013 and Customer Support says it finished the manufacturing process weeks ago.
No officially stated reasons have been given. Several inferred reasons have been provided, and several unknown reasons have been hinted at. What we do know is we expect the release to happen within the next week or so.
Thank you. I was reading on Yahoo Cars that something like 18,000 Cherokees are held at Shipping due to "driveline calibration" or something like that. Sounds like transmissions to me? Anyway, glad the Ecodiesels are not in that category.
Jeep Cherokees missing in action as thousands stack up at factory By Justin Hyde Managing Editor, Yahoo! Autos http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/v....zenfs.com/852/2013/10/jeepcherokeebildss.jpgThe 2014 Jeep Cherokee rolled into the spotlight to much debate in February, with its angular looks boldly moving away from the slab-cut Cherokees of yore. First assembly began in July, and reviewers drove the cars in August and September. Yet today, weeks after it was expected to hit the market, there's not a single Cherokee up for sale in any Jeep dealership in America — despite at least 19,000 having been built. A search of Chrysler's nationwide dealer inventory system shows nine Cherokees listed as "in transit" to dealers, a small break in a giant logjam; Chrysler's own data showed it had built 18,849 Cherokees at the plant in Toledo as of September 30, and production has continued since then. Chrysler has offered few specifics about the delay, saying it involved "powertrain calibration" issues and vowing that it would not let buyers have a half-baked SUV: The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has an all-new nine-speed transmission, two new powertrains, three advanced four-wheel-drive systems and has undergone more than 14 million test miles in order to ensure the vehicle meets our highest quality standards. Once the latest powertrain calibration is validated, the company will be able to quickly update the powertrain software on Cherokees already built and ship vehicles to dealership around the country in quantity. Complex may be an understatement. The nine-speed transmission, an industry first designed by German firm ZF but built by Chrysler at its own factory in Indiana, has been expected to see duty in many Chrysler front-wheel-drive models as a key part of the company's plan to meet future fuel efficiency standards. The electronics and chassis of the Cherokee come from a platform shared with Fiat. And because it's a Jeep, the Cherokee has not just a typical all-wheel-drive system for its four- and six-cylinder engines, but an optional off-roadable four-wheel-drive unit with trick pieces like a locking rear differential — all of which has to work seamlessly with software controls. http://autos.yahoo.com/photos/2014-jeep-cherokee-1379614243-slideshow/ Automakers occasionally have bumpy launches; last year Ford had to ship thousands of Lincoln MKZ sedans from Mexico to Michigan for repairs after factory troubles. And such delays hit the bottom line directly; automakers don't book a sale until a car leaves the factory, and dealers get antsy when they don't have the vehicles they expected to sell. But the alternative — selling cars with known problems that then require customers to go back to the dealership a few months later — would only shift Chrysler's reputation into low gear.
So I was thinking of actually canceling and reordering my Jeep with 1 or 2 option changes... Think it'll take any longer to arrive than the one I ordered a few months ago that was built over 1 month ago?
Just looking in the forums, and I noticed this thread it the third largest thread in all of Jeep Garage. I think Scott needs to move this thread up above the line to the permanent thread section. It just goes to show that we have a great group of people here patiently waiting (but barely so). At least we have Jeep Garage to pass the time.
