Never have liked wood in a car... I prefer carbon fiber, steel, etc. I also dont care about the body colored bits on the bottom and front. I admit to lusting after the indigo blue/brown interior... but I'm a basic black interior kind of guy when it comes down to it.

I was seriously considering the overland... and was waffling back and forth between that and the limited. Then when Jeep made the tech package mandatory for the diesel overland that made up my mind for me.

Oh, I agree that people should make their own decisions about what they like and what they are willing to pay for. I'm just an advocate of people making decisions based on proper information. Puddle lights, automatic mirrors, and a couple aesthetic differences for almost $4k is a much different equation when you list out those differences and cut the price by 40%

Agree bundling in the tech package puts it bit too high. If it was just the base Overland would be good.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I do like that they include the Quadra-lift on the Overland. I wasn't going to get one of the Offroad packages and was going to add the ATG and 20" wheels as I personally like the 20" wheels. I could do without the wood on the steering wheel though

Yeah, me neither. Diesel was one of my favorite brands when I was in school back in Germany about 20 years ago...

Re: 2014 diesel production

I've seen a couple comments but doesn't seem like anyone has specifically responded so thought I'd ask the question here. Is there any reason to believe that the affiliate pricing will not be honored on the diesel when it first comes out? Also, is there any reason to believe dealers will not be offering the same deep discounts they are offering on the gas versions? I've stopped by a few dealerships and still get the "They're not coming out till 2014" answer so I haven't even talked to them about pricing but I would assume a sale is a sale whether it's the diesel or gas model to them.

No reason affiliate pricing wouldn't be honored or that diesel pricing would vary from existing deals/discounts that I am aware of... SRTs are the only model I have seen where these sorts of pricing negotiations seem to be affected.

Thanks, this was my assumption as well. I guess if we're still on track Wednesday, I'll email my local dealers and see what kind of pricing they're offering up.

I had one dealer who has a "no haggle price" on their cars and they wouldn't honor the Affiliate Reward pricing, one said they didn't know yet, but the others said they would. I've had a couple dealers willing to go beyond that with another 1 - 2% or a free lifetime powertrain warranty.

According to this recently published study, diesel owners can generally save money, and within a lot fewer years than most think. It would be interesting to read the entire report, as this kind of stands traditional thinking on its head:

IIRC not all dealers "participate" in the Affiliate Program-I think this is stated somewhere on the Affiliate site-someone correct me if I'm wrong
