Hope your numbers are right. May be irrelevant though if they don't start selling them soon.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Weird that it was the total opposite when it comes to ranking with Motor Trend. With them it seemed like the Jeep blew the others out of the water when it came to its versatility. I'd like to read the car and driver review to see how it compares and their reasoning.

Watch the motor trend review online (head to head against the Touareg) the guy said the VW used to be his favourite and now the Cherokee is like a steal at the price (for diesel).... he actually at one point says there is a $20,000 difference in value vs price.

Not my numbers, just Car and Driver.

Those numbers though are all impacted by altitude, air temp, tire inflation, etc...

Pretty safe to say that the V6 and CRD will have similar acceleration with maybe a few fractions of a second one way or the other (doubt you'd notice).

Well, unless you live at Altitude (in which case things will change pretty drastically).

The real difference is have a few people or pounds in the car and the Diesel times really won't change vs the v6 will drop significantly. Also passing on incline is the other place I found the diesel was far superior.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Plus performance chips for the EcoDiesel will likely be available, if they are not already... You want to beat the v8 0-60? Should be able to with the right chip.

The interesting thing is that the chips often even give you better mileage for certain styles of driving.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I did search for the 2014 diesel on the epa.gov website...to see if it was certified for emissions yet. The answer is "not yet". Here's a link to the EPA page.

Annual Certification Test Results & Data | Cars and Light Trucks | US EPA

The most current data is as of March 2013. We're nearly at June...but still this engine is not listed in the light duty category. Anyone from Jeep care to comment?

Re: 2014 diesel production

Ya, I just was looking at the EPA site for it. Some folks don't know that exists. Had a few lessons in Emissions certs a year ago with a motorcycle or two....

Re: 2014 diesel production

I'm reasonably certain the CJF has done the testing (are usually done at mfr's facilities though small shops may use test labs). Though whether it has been released to the gov or whether the gov has but has not published I do not know.

It is possible that a few things need to be tweaked before submitting for certification but the "21 city / 30 hwy manufacturers estimated miles per gallon with 3.0L EcoDiesel engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, 4x2." had to come from somewhere.

Do know that CJF was selling '14's with EPA MPG window stickers before the gov ever published the info.

Re: 2014 diesel production

The process of rating a particular vehicle's fuel economy is mostly left up to the manufacturer. A very small amount of those claims are randomly checked by the EPA, or when there are enough complaints from consumers.

Here's a great video from Cnet:
