Only 98 days till Christmas. Hope the CRD gets here before I have to ask Santa for it.

Dear Santa,
I can explain...............

I am Santa, at least my Niece and Nephews think so; regardless, I need my new Black CRD Sleigh to deliver their Christmas presents. .....another 4 iPods I guess this year. Or Maybe 4 iPad minis...

Ecodiesel as in Jeep Ecodiesel? I hope that's not why ours aren't shipping, because they're using them a sales demos. Not sure which is worse, the test track or sales demos... :)

Yikes.....you guys are scaring me. Since me, Shannon, wk2, and AMR have had ours sitting in the yard for a week or more, that's a lot of test drives. If I have 200 miles in mine when I get it, a used car discount will be demanded!

bd

I doubt that is what's happening. But more than a couple of miles on it, I'll not be taking delivery. They can send me a new one. I've already told the dealer I want to know miles comming off of the truck, and I don't care if it's the first one they get, nobody gets to drive it further than the gas station (about 400 feet). This is a sold vehicle, it's not theirs.

They are required to drive it as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection.

Also they may drive the vehicle at the factory as part of the quality testing.

So there will be more than a "couple" of miles on it, but that applies to any manufacturer. Frankly the shuttle movements of the vehicles from one yard to another would give you more than a couple of miles.

For all you guys worrying about miles, they should have no less than 2 and no more than 10. It just depends how much jockeying needs to be done to get the Jeep from the factory to your dealer's door. Our Wranglers usually come in with 2 miles, Grand's have 3 or 4.

No sales manager in his right mind is going to let a sold vehicle get demo'd for any reason...too many chances for something to get screwed up.

The block heater is really just a chord. The heater is included on all GC 3.0 CRD blocks.

I am not really sure this is correct. If you look at the 2014 accessory brochure the Milous posted awhile back you will see that the block heater is really 2 parts the heater element that fits into the block and the cord that plugs into it (see attached pic). If the heater part was already installed I don't think they would include it with the cord. Of course the block heater for the CRD is not included in the brochure so I am not certain it is different but I would think it would be similar.

In 2009 I ordered a VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I wanted many things that turned out to be dealer installed. The ordering had nothing to do and did not include any of the Dealer Installed Options. So if they had said they ordered the front spoiler by accident it would not have been true, and they didn't order any of the dealer installed (OEM) parts until I took delivery.

Also I know Toyota had distributor or port installed options as well; in the SouthEast you could not get a Toyota hitch on a mini van, you had to go north if you wanted a Toyota Hitch.

Jeep dealers may operate completely differently though. Regardless, there is no reason they can't make it right for you after it's delivered. If they try to make you pay for something you didn't order, you can't do business with them. If this is a friend, I think you might have said. Then they will make it right and give you 7 or 8% off invoice as well.

Also, I am curious, assuming the block heater for the CRD is just a cord. Is it the same for the other engines? The option is always $95 MSRP. I don't remember different parts for the other engines as far as after market mopar.

Even my Motorhome diesel came standard with a block heater. (It's heated with an Oil Furnace though.)

I also realized I am adding most of the mopar appearance package just not the the "Chrome Tubular Side Steps". I am adding the pedal kit and the illuminated entry guards. I am going with the Rocky Road Super Sliders for my rails

I just read the JGC Fuel Tanks are PLASTIC? Is this true? I am sure glad I am getting the Skid plates if this is true...

Tomorrow will be 10 days in inspection and my revised estimated delivery date. You'd think somebody, somewhere would have some idea of some kind of plan on when these will be released, but then they probably can't share that with us.

I visited my dealership this past weekend to get some things cleared up. I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to pay the $300 price increase. I had them print out a current order sheet for me and I noticed a ship date of 9/26. I can wait that long, but I'm willing to bet that is when you will start to see GC CRD's loaded onto the trains.

He also told me he has had multiple people asking him if they can test drive my CRD when it arrives. Of course he said no, but there had better not be a bunch of miles on my Jeep! :slapfight:

Willx, thanks for the explanation. I know that VOTS will not be accurate, but it is the only data I have at the moment. MOTS is great, but only really comes into play after the Jeep ships. (KZ)
Chevy has explained the reason why they are holding them, and I get it. It makes sense to me. I am only giving the data I have been shown in my crystal ball!:D

No Problem!

I am just trying to give you both the positive and the negative, so you don't get too fixated on the 26th.... Just a hint, MOTS tells you stuff that you cannot find in VOTS. Keep an eye on the Trends, watch the vehicles that finished build before yours (and anyone else for that matter) and watch the moves even without release. You will know well before your dealer that something is going on ;)

Edit: and I should add, MOTS does show you when you get through inspection, you just need to know how to read it. I am lucky I get to compare what I see on both sides and really... I don't have VOTS because as I say, who needs to know when when I am in paint?... I mean that is cool on paper, but just like the shipping stuff is goofy, the most important stuff is "D1" because your seat is reserved and (I) that being that she is DONE!.... Another hint, if your vehicle gets a Bay location update any time after (I) it passed the initial inspection and is pretty well good to go!!

Funny story, the sales guy that had denied to me that the diesel was coming (even the beginning of the year) called me today. He said that they will be getting 3 diesel GCs in...probably the first week or two of October. They are all spoken for including one that is for their general manager.
I told him that I really need to drive one before I order one (white lie). I said that their general manger is going to have to let me drive his otherwise I'm going to have to test drive at another dealership.

Guess what....I'm going to be able to drive their GMs GC diesel. I think it's an overland.
I'm going to see if I can bring it back with a little dirt on it!!!! I'll try and take some before and after pics and post them up here when I'm done with it! Maybe it'll be my submission for Jeep of the Month for October. A nice brand new mud-covered Overland Diesel owned by a general manager of a dealership. That might even get me Jeep of the Year!

Just keep in mind that a nice guy like me who spends a lot of time at dealers already agreed to allow some show and tell because of the short original supply.

So that is a warning to any of you who may try to offroad my truck... I will find you ;)
