Air Force Command Pilot Wings. 4000+ hours in Sikorsky Helos, Ft. Rucker graduate as well as AF Pilot Training. I guess that makes me a Pilot/Aviator:)
And an Engineer to boot. No wonder I'm irresistibly drawn to SFUs:D

Sweet, that make three Army Aviators in this one thread. What are the odd's?

Happy train departure day to all you guys who are out of Detroit, and on the move. I wish I was amongst you. It appears my Jeep is loving the motor city a little too much.
First of all, I'm happy for all who have received or have their diesels on trains heading toward them. That being said, I'm getting a little PO'ed when I see CRDs ordered weeks after I ordered ( on the first day and dropped $1,00 down) heading out to them and mine still sits as "staged for shipment" in the Java Yard.

Nothing but praise for the Jeep guys on this thread, but the schedulers ought to be taken out and horse whipped! This is getting ridiculous.

Sorry to vent, but I just hadda!!

SF
I think its not worth getting frustrated over. Its like the roll of the dice. Why do some people get stuck in a rail yard for a week awaiting departure? Why do some peoples like mine stay in D1 three times as long as others ? No one knows..

Wanted to say hello to my train brothers....looks like we're moving on down the line

acilate

nautiboy

skik2000

Temerarius

Not sure where y'all are headed but I believe mine will be dropped off in Council Bluffs, IA and trucked down to Lincoln.

We're all still on the same train since we all got the same update again:

Train Departure 11/01/2013 06:22 PM EDT On Railcar - Archbold, OH
Probably swinging through Chicago sometime in the middle of the night. Maybe the SFUs should stop at a diner - get 4 fried chickens and a coke, and some dry white toast.

Acilate and I are headed to the SF Bay area. Temerarius I think is Seattle. Skik I think is Colorado. So I guess you're going to be the first off the train.

Did your Tampa dealer give you a good deal? I am in Tampa multiple times a year and have bought other cars there before.
If you want to PM feel free to do so as to not waste posts that others are not interested in.

My dealer just emailed me and said that it had finally shipped and would take 10 days to get here. Just checked MOTS and it looks like it finally moved to New Boston, but still not on a railcar...

Received by Facility 11/01/2013 06:23 AM EDT New Boston, MI

Just had to rent ANOTHER car yesterday that cost me almost $100. This is getting really old, really quick.

On the new Ecodiesel 3.0 thread for owners Mazster43 just received what you're waiting on; a Graphite, with indigo/brn interior. Well you know it's coming. I was told by a very good source most of the people to the far west would get there unicorns close to the middle of November about the second week. Good luck with your's.

Can't say I really get the tracking thing. I mean I understand no updates on tracking when it is in storage and I understand once it gets on a train, but...

Departed Facility 10/31/2013 10:18 AM EDT Avi - Vls Java Yard, MI

That was my CRD and 24+ hours later it hasn't yet found a home whether that is back to another yard or being put on a train. I don't get it, my CRD lost on its way to another yard? lol

It is waiting in the Yard at New Boston to be loaded on a train. You will very likely see the train loading happening within 24 hours.

If any of you get concerned about this stuff just ask. Milous posts the factual information that is EXACT. We can also often tell some other things about what is happening but there is no date and time but just a theory. So yes, the info above is pretty good but based on what I see, that is what is happening without the official scanned time stamp yet.

Good move! I'm sure you won't be waiting as long as many of us have. Congrats!

I share the frustrations of those above posters who are anxiously awaiting movement of their CRDs. Looking at the "Delivered vehicles" historical data in the MOTS thread, the average time from KZ status to getting on a train is only a couple days, but it has been almost a week and I have only made it to: Departed Facility 10/31/2013 05:41 PM EDT Avi - Vls Charlevoix Yard, MI

And while this seems hopeful, no other movement for 24 hours makes me wonder what the delay is now! So Chiv, KZ status really isn't all it's cracked up to be... you may take delivery before me. ;-)

Since Brainstormer's SFU is going the same place as mine, I'm following his in hopes of getting an idea when to expect my delivery (hopefully I can get on a train in MI and get unloaded in Houston in 4 days too... but I might need to send a special email to the right VIP *grin*). Even Shannon's Jeep KZ'd a day after mine but is en-route... makes me want to use the letters dubya, tee, and eff!

I have followed this thread for the last couple of hundred of pages but must have missed the explanation for the current shipping irregularities. Will or Milous, can you say exactly why the CRDs are taking so much longer to get out of Michigan (after KZ) than all the gassers?

My SFU was apparently chosen to blaze the trail for you and Shannon. Mark said mine got to Houston as fast as he has ever seen. I'll keep watching for your guys...

Are you local to Houston?

Train Departure 11/01/2013 06:17 AM EDT On Railcar - Louisville, KY

54 1/2 hrs sitting in Louisville and finally moving again. Good grief!

If my train had run like some of the better times logged from Detroit to Memphis, I'd be picking her up tomorrow. Trains must be government operated. It was not meant to be anyways...a more important commitment has come up.

On a tragic note: My friend and coworker's wife was one of the two Le Bonheur Children's Hospital flight nurses killed in the helicopter accident Oct 22 in TN. I'll be at the funeral tomorrow. What a tragedy. Carrie was a dedicated pediatric nurse and wonderful person. An SFU is not that important all things considered.

So sorry to hear that. While all loss of life is tragic, I've always found it particularly poignant when the life is that of a first responder and/or rescue worker.

Deepest sympathies and best wishes to all involved.

Mine just has to travel 24 miles from the plant to my dealership in Troy! It is still showing an estimated delivery date of 11/11 on MOTS (Willx thinks it could be earlier, thanks for the hope and and answering all my PM's). It's just frustrating being in the SE MI area and so close to your unicorn but yet so far away.....

Maybe a little distraction to keep from obsessing over the MOTS data ...

Out of curiosity - now that they've KZ'd the CRDs, what, if anything, can be said about the cause of the delays?

We know one delay was the CARB hold.

We know one delay was the DEF tank.

We think we know that there was at least one reprogram required, probably (though not definitely) due to the CARB hold.

There was something that required a change on the line that Chevy talked about (builds after 9/26 had the "fix").

There was something that came up at the last minute, that required re-inspection of a number of CRDs.

I *think* there was also another issue that was found, that I *think* wasn't specific to the CRDs that cropped up very recently.

There was something, which seemed to be related to the reprogramming device. There were guesses that there was a connector problem, some also guessed that it was just a reference to the above-mentioned reprogram that was necessary. (Note though that those two are not mutually exclusive - there could have been a connector issue that was slowing down the reprogramming ...)

There were some allusions to a fender trim issue.

Any others I missed?

What about the delay(s) that caused ordering to get pushed out?

Inquiring minds want to know! :)

(*obviously* don't share anything that might get you in trouble)

Looks like another night in Charlevoix, I hope one of you remembered to bring a deck of cards.

PS I called my dealer today just to make sure he did not cancel the order...How paranoid is that!

Ok. Full alternate universe where unicorns frolic and people I never knew existed become part of my daily fixture. Now a third thread to follow. First, just the 2014 diesel production, then MOTS Customer Build status and now the new EcoDiesel owner forum. Refresh, refresh, refresh. Can't thank the trailblazers and forum giants enough.

Ummm.... On the PDI, just like the trucks, they are supposed to Fill it at the DEALER!!!!

This is not an assembly problem, they only include enough fuel and other consumables to make the trip. Urea top up is 100% dealer. If the dealer plays dumb on this, clearly they have never sold a cummins!
Isn't there a dealer prep checklist from Jeep that tells them they are supposed to top off the DEF tank prior to turning the vehicle over to the customer?

If this is not clearly identified as a dealer responsibility, I'm afraid I'm going to have to carry three jugs of DEF with me when I finally get to take delivery.

There is detailed instructions on how all PDIs are to be performed as well as a checklist. If the dealer argues ask them to print off the "Complete PDI Instructions" and it says 2 things "Check ALL Fluids" Plus towards the bottom it also for double check states the following "Top off Diesel Exhaust Fluid Reservoir" For those of you that have received your SFU and did not receive a full tank, please return to your dealer and have them fix this. They were PAID to do this!

25 Member Jeeps on Rail Cars and on their Way! A few delivered and it appears a lot more moving over the weekend and through Monday. There are a number of location updates, nothing earth shattering at this time, so they will come on the regular updates.

Sorry if we haven't been able to call out your name with good news but Milous will tell you this is pretty normal for shipping. We do our best to keep the information rolling and no we don't have the home address or phone number for the VP Logistics :D

So, I just received a customer satisfaction survey from Jeep on my recent purchase. Problem is i have yet to make the purchase. They seem to have things a bit out of sequence as the SFU is still at JNAP according to MOTS. Anybody else get the survey a little early? I'd be happy to complete the survey if they can get the CRD on board the train anytime soon.
