Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

I知 considering the following purchase: 2014 JGC 4X4 Limited LUXII NAV ORII Max Steel/Black. I知 deciding between diesel and pentastar V6 (leaning diesel). I知 considering the ATG (leaning against). I値l think about it some more until my brain explodes. I appreciate all the diesel owner reviews! This thread has been very helpful!

I have the 2014 EcoDiesel 4x4 Limited in Cherry Red Metallic equipped identically to what you're considering: Limited wIth Luxury Pkg II, ORA II, Nav. I also considered the Pentastar V6 when the EcoDiesel was delayed for several months (seemed like an eternity). I now have over 5000 miles on my Jeep and am SO GLAD I ordered the diesel rather than compromise with the Pentastar. This Jeep is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned, and as a 57 year old auto enthusiast, I have owned my share of great vehicles. I still can't help but smile everytime I get behind the wheel.

So as you all take delivery, drive it around for a lil bit (few days maybe), then let me know what you think.. 1-to-10 format.

Ex. This JEEP is a 'HEEP' of sh!t....... 1-10, I give it a 0. Oh wait, it cost me $50k! Make that a -5.

or..

This thing is awesome!!! I couldn't be happier....... 1-10, I give it a 10!

Or something in between.. You get the point. Thx guys and gals. I can't do TOO much about what you guys' concerns are, but some of the ppl up the ladder who browse these threads can, so let em hear it. And again, thx for your purchases and hanging in there despite all the setbacks.
I love mine... I bought it in January. I did have issues with the DEF system and the electronic throttle at 2500 miles but I just learned that I broke off a DEF to exhaust injector which was located in a vulnerable position underneath. It's in the shop now. Jeep sent my dealership instructions for a fix. They are re-routing the injector to a safer position on the exhaust. When I learned that it was a shock to me. I do have the over 50K Grand Ch Limited with options for Auto, Snow, Rock, Sand and Mud. The old saying with confidence of "It's a Jeep!" got me into trouble. I was four wheeling down a short 1/2 mile snow/ice packed dirt road just a few days before the warning lights came up on my 350 mile trip and I didn't even put 2 and 2 together. I guess I'll need to add some protection underneath. Surprised Jeep didn't already think of it.

It is nice to hear from someone else who decided between pentastar and ecodiesel. I think many are choosing between V8 and diesel, which might be an easier decision. Relative to the pentastar the diesel has some rumble and some vibration can be felt inside (more so at idle than cruising, and more so in the cold) which was more of a concern initially but this is growing on me after a few test drives. I feel difference when accelerating or driving up hills where the diesel seems effortless relative to the pentastar. I plan to use the Jeep for everyday driving, trails, winter driving, mountain passes, long road trips, and to pull small trailers. Since I知 only familiar with gas engines I have reservations about owning a diesel engine including reliability and costs including initial cost, cost of ownership, and increased insurance premiums.

Get the tow package if you go diesel. I was pulling my 27' aluminum car trailer with my Altima in it around for a test the other day. It pulled 6200 lbs like it was nothing up the Blue mountain.

I could agree more. I first ordered the V-6 in the same configuration, except different color. Just as it arrived, I reordered the same configuration but the EcoDiesel. I liked the idea of the diesel, but honestly, it was the genuine ZF transmission that closed the deal. Now that I have the Jeep. it was best change order I ever made. If you go with the V-6, you will forever wonder how the diesel would have been. Don't make two mistakes, get the diesel, the heavy duty tranny comes "free". You will be very happy.

Thanks, Brainstormer!
I知 building up poise for the 50K Jeep purchase and appreciate to hear about your experience. I did not consider the transmission upgrade that comes with the diesel.

Maybe its just me, but the Jeep Build & Price is not clear towards what 4WD system is provided with each configuration. I'm leaning towards 2014 JGC 4X4 Limited LUXII NAV ORII Max Steel/Black. Does pentastar engine come with Quadra-Trac II and diesel come with Quadra-Drive II? Whenver the 4WD system is mentioned, the Build & Price mentions its "Available", for example with the ORII option. There has to be way to know which 4WD system comes with what.

The Limited 4x4 comes with Quadra-Trac II. When you order ORA II, that changes your Limited 4x4 to Quadra-Drive II, Adv. Tow Pkg, Quadra Lift Air suspension, etc.

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

I had the same confusions. But I really wanted the Quadra-Drive II over the Quadra-Trac II. So I configured a Limited with ORA-II to get the Quadra-Drive II, along with the other options I wanted. Ordered the vehicle as a loaded Limited.

Then I discovered JeepGarage and the Texas Buy.

Turns out, with the Texas Group Buy pricing, going to an Overland with ORA-II got me the Quadra-Drive II for about $500 more than my price for the loaded Limited. And I thought I already had a good price below invoice for the Limited. No brainer.

Cancelled the Limited, jumped on the Overland with the Texas Group Buy.

Waiting for production as we speak!
