Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

White, 2014 GC Limited Diesel+all bells and whistles availabe-Stock except tinted front windows and clear bra

Averaging 27 - 28 MPG mixed driving. I have filled up 3 times and have close to 2K miles since late February. Each tank I'm getting 600+ miles out of

So far... I LOVE my GC! Mileage is night and day from my 05 xterre Offroad averaging 16 MPG.

Love all the features and am experiencing some of the small tech quirks ( going to address with dealer soon) everyone is complainig about, but so far they are minor in comparison to the driving and MPG experience.

Fingers crossed and hope to run her for atleast 10 years

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

We took our first road trip out on the open roads. Acceleration for passing is not an issue, even at 70-80 MPH.

Our 2008 CRD with the 5-speed tranny would run 2,000 RPM at 55 MPH. In 8th gear, 2000 RPM = 77 MPH which helps result in a quieter ride on the highway.

This is something that used to be somewhat common but I haven't run into for years until Dave Smith pulled it out of the hat after I got there to pick up the car. I've always refused to pay this and all similar fees as well as the fare for any scotchguard, weatherproofing and other dealer profit addons and I did this time as well. Never had a dealer let me walk out and Dave Smith did not but I'm sure there are probably some that are gonna do it on principle. Every sheep must get fleeced...

Anyhow it was kinda sad to see this at Dave Smith, I've bought several cars there and they dealt straight up. In fairness everything else about the delivery was top notch and exactly as negotiated otherwise but I was still bummed that they stooped to the dealer prep fee.

Some dealers seem to see it as an "entitlement". I agree - sad.

After about 45 miles of city driving around Houston, we drove back to Kerrville today at the limit (65 to 75mph) with occasional excursions into the higher rpm band and recorded 25.3mpg with a total journey of just over 295 miles.

Really got to know the systems on the way home, thanks to Will's UConnect 101 at the dealership. Very easy and intuitive once you understand the buttons on the steering wheel and how to navigate through it. Loved the ACC...worked really well on the 2 line setting on I-10 at 70mph. Sound system is pretty darn good too....Bohemian Rhapsody at level 32 was AWESOME!!

We are taking "Smiffy" on a road trip to Big Bend shortly and will put over 1000 miles on him. Deb REALLY loves the JGC and wants to drive it and the open roads of West Texas will be a great learning ground for her.

I went over the car when we got home and couldn't find a darn thing to crap about! I put the new Husky Weatherbeater mats in (the tan looks great with the Brown/Frost interior) and will install the wheel locks and new pedal covers tomorrow. Then the fun starts.....an anal polishing and waxing !

I was really happy for you until I read those last 5 words. Sounds uncomfortable no matter which way I think about it

Congrats on the Jeep, though

Well I suppose if that girl in the black leather from the Matrix movie was involved it wouldn't be all that bad...

Wow! Get this documented with the dealer immediately, low oil can cause any number failures due to improper lubrication both near and long term. Do not delay. Keep your receipt for the oil you purchased. Should there be a next time do not add the oil when you have been shorted until its documented.

It's not clear from your post how long it was after you shut the engine off that you checked it, but you need to wait at lease several hours, if not overnight (IMHO) to get a true reading on the dipstick. This has been discussed on other threads, but basically the oil up in the top end takes a long time to get back to the pan after you shut it off.

When I got to my sister's house from picking mine up, I checked the oil about a half hour later and it was 1/4 of a quart low. I didn't add any but waited until the morning, and it was right on the full line.

EDIT:

2 quarts low seems like a lot, but I'd still check it cold to see what it reads.

Wife brought home invoice from dealer 6 quarts were added that was the first thing I checked when I heard the increased engine noise my concern is oil is back to normal with 2 additional quarts and noise is still present.... not impressed
Oil was checked in 30 min intervals X 5 was way below the min mark on dipstick
