Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

Hi Guys,

I have had my JGC ECODiesel for about 2 months. I love this vehicle. No trips to the dealer for anything. It is smooth, pleasant sounding, effortless, powerful and economical. The diesel engine and 8 speed transmission are a well matched set of exquisitely engineered mechanical equipment. I have had no issues with the Jeep's performance, reliability and value - 10/10. I am confident that with reasonable care it will last many years.

The NAV is easy to use coming from a Garmin background. The big screen and map detail are nice. The use of the EVIC screen to show turn details has proven to be smart. The phone is thoughtfully integrated into the radio and other controls. Fit and finish are excellent and no paint issues.

Have 2800+ miles on it with average measured MPG of 27.5. I am getting more than 600 miles on each tank full. This is all local mileage -town, interstate and rural-no trip over 60 miles. The best tankful has been 28.9 MPG with more rural driving. I can not wait for a long interstate trip. The EVIC has been fairly accurate - average of 0.3 MPG higher than my calculations.

Rotating thru the EVIC gauges has become second nature. The oil life is gauge is telling me that my stop and go driving will require my first oil change at 5000 miles. The DEF gauge is indicating normal DEF usage of 1 gallon/1000miles. I have not had any hilly driving or towing to do yet.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4 X 2
Maximum Steel Metallic / Black
Luxury Group II
Trailer Tow Group IV
Uconnect 8.4AN
20" wheels

My wife is a petite woman. The Jeep has a high step up. I think I will invest in running boards and splash guards.

Jimbo

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

lol My wife said something along the lines of "If you buy some running boards I wont in any way complain.." which is somewhat unusual. The normal situation is I say "I need a new bass boat" and she says "no".

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

Jimbo
Be sure if you have not already used the exit/entry feature to lower the ride down. My SO is 5'3" and she can get in the Jeep just fine but much easier with lower feature. We avoided like the plague the roll bar step as it was slippery and gets your pants dirty. The running boards that are flat would work fine like I had in my Super Duty.

I agree with your comments. I had a dent in the pass seat which is mostly straightened out on its own and the fuel door on top still sticks out but not sure if that is something that can be fixed. My EVIC is very accurate showing maybe 0.3 mpg optimistic as you reported on yours.

My DEF after the same mileage shows maybe 1 1/2 gallons used which is a guess given the gage and my oil change is going to happen around 7000 miles because of mostly highway driving when I first got it.

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

We test drove a GC with running board while waiting for ours to be shipped, they seemed to get in the way more than help getting in and out. Maybe they are something you learn to use if you have them, but we just use the entry/exit mode and it seems to work for me and my wife (she is 5'4")

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

355Jimbo's GC is a 4x2 so it doesn't have air suspension. Running boards may be a good idea. One of the pluses to running boards is acting as a splash guard to keep crud off the lower quarter panels. My Maximum Steel color shows dirty pretty bad. I don't have boards but a friend does and theirs stays much cleaner.

Thanks for the comments. I ordered running boards and splash guards today. I hope it helps the wife to get it and out and help keep it clean.

Those make sense to me on a 2wd. I think I'd rip them off of my 4wd. My old Nissan went through a few splash guards.

Oops!

Forgot one detail about our road trip to Big Bend National Park. So far, 1508 miles and our JGC used no oil !

[QUOTE=chevyboy_711;925726]Same as my last thread, just looking for owner's reviews their new NAFTA EcoDiesel GC so far. I won't bother adding the poll to this one bc I'd like to see the ratings in you guys' posts. Keeps the responses legit, and cuts down on voter fraud.

So as you all take delivery, drive it around for a lil bit (few days maybe), then let me know what you think.. 1-to-10 format.

Ex. This JEEP is a 'HEEP' of sh!t....... 1-10, I give it a 0. Oh wait, it cost me $50k! Make that a -5.

or..

This thing is awesome!!! I couldn't be happier....... 1-10, I give it a 10!

Just hit 1,500 miles on mine today. It has been in the snow, mountains and to the coast. I would give it a 9 or 10. Lots of gagets to figure out and the oil life gauge at 1500 miles says 69% oil life left. That would mean at this rate I will need an oil change at 4,500 miles. that's a log way from that 10K mile oil change the manual states. We'll see.

Quick update. 10,000 miles on my OR II Overland now. Very happy with my SFU. No issues to date. Averaging 25-27 mpg on the highway, 20-22 around town. One oil change so far at 8,000 miles. Had to add def at 6,000. Wish diesel was less expensive here. Paying $4.19 per gallon and have seen as high as $4.40. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything continues as good as so far.

I wish I could pay $1.60 a litre, here in Darwin we're paying $1.75 a litre so I don't see what you are complaining about ;-)
