The PTC heater unit is mounted in the HVAC air distribution housing, downstream of the heater core and is controlled by the diesel engine control module (ECM) and the vehicle's front control module (FCM) through three relays located in the power distribution center (PDC).
So waiting for warm air doesn’t mean you have a warm engine"

Additionally, there is a reference to a 10amp fuse in space F103 for a "Cabin Heater (Diesel Only)".

That will be nice fro defrosting on cold days.
Wow, that's all I can say... Thanks for finding this, I was totally unaware the Jeep had this funcionality! Living in the northeast that was my only issue with the diesel engine

This was one of my concerns too. I'm in the mountain outside Denver, and it stops snowing here in June, and starts up again in late August. I need this thing to have the ability to heat itself up. I plan on using the block heater liberally too.

Haven't had the service electronic throttle control error message since tuesday morning. I really like everything about the jeep, except for the cd player taking most of the center console. That will be removed.

Can't wait to see how it tows the car.

Appears to be limited to 118mph by the way. Pulls like a train right up to it with 4 big guys and luggage in it.

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

My beauty has arrived:

The vehicle is in great condition. After a few days going over it with a fine tooth comb, there are only two small blemishes. Just a tiny nick in the leather on the left passenger door that is fairly hard to see, and a missing plastic fastener underneath that connects the bottom bumper trim to the plastic skid plate.

Paint is great. Panel/lights/handle alignment is good. Fuel tank and DEF fluid 100% on delivery. I can't say enough good things about Hendrick Jeep in Fayetteville NC. Worked well with me on a trade-in and getting my unconventional method/purchase squared away.

This is a superb vehicle for the money. Friends at work can't get over all of the features.

Pros:

Fit and finish is superb for a vehicle of any price, let alone this price.
Haven't had a single mechanical/electronic hiccup. Nothing as of now needs to be replaced or fixed.
Diesel engine is quiet and pulls strong. Extremely satisfied with how it drives.
Transmission is like glass smooth.
Adaptive headlights are awesome!
Uconnect 8.4 is a marvel. Everything from changing temps via voice command to XM radio. The 19 speaker H/K is stellar!
110v power converter is a great feature.
You can feel the weight of the vehicle but it isn't a bad-heavy feeling. Drives solid like a tank yet is very smooth and quiet.
Cockpit lighting at night is great.
I was giddy the first time I used stop and go adaptive cruise. It worked amazingly.

Cons:
Uconnect doesn't play FLAC files. Hopefully something that they can update in a firmware patch.
Summit front lower bumper trim cannot be removed easily. I'm going to have to remove the whole bumper to figure it out. I have to remove the bumper anyway for winch install.

Today I've de-badged the car besides the diesel badge and the rear Jeep logo which will be blacked out. Tip: if you plan to de-badge do it when the car is new and the double stick tape hasn't set. I used a soft plastic trim removal tool in order to not scratch the paint, and those babies just popped off.

Today ordered the off-road wheels, tires, winch, bumper, skid-plates, rock rails and a bunch of other stuff. Credit card is ballooning up nicely.

Overall, I haven't been this excited about a vehicle purchase since my Nissan GTR. Jeep has put out one hell of a product!

Looks great! 18" wheels & tires, skids, rock rails and figuring out how to modify or just swapping out the front lower bumper/facia for a removable Overland version are on my list, too. Hope you create a build thread on this to show and share the knowledge!

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

Your project sounds sweet too. I have a build thread up in the main area, can't wait to start posting some install info.

It's funny, when I first test drove a Summit it was the red and I didn't like the chrome contrast and the Summit wheels. With Granite though, the chrome clashes much less and actually looks pretty good. For a minute there I was like maybe I shouldn't blacken out everything lol. But still going ahead with the plan...

Ya, the diesel shares the garage with the GTR.

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

After waiting 11 months, I finally got my SFU. Unicorns truly do exist, and they are magical to say the least. Delivery at the dealer went smooth, and the road trip from Houston to New Orleans was great. We spent the night on Bourbon street, so to say the least, I am intoxicated, so I will give a full review when I get back on Sunday night.
For now, I will say Holy Sh*t, this thing is awesome. Only a few small blemishes noted, and I will report more in my full review.
This thing does not sound like a diesel. And trust me, thing will spin the tires. Gave it a little too much gas, and I smoked the tires. It is great. Handles like a dream. Slight shimmy at 70+, but will deal with that later. Great experience at the dealer. Gas milage from Houston to New orleans was right at 30, and I varied speed all the way, as we drove the coast most of the way. The trip from Houston all the way to New Orleans only used a half tank of diesel. Took some pictures, and will post later, as I had 2 hurricanes on Bourbon street, and I am lucky I can even type at this point, yet alone post pictures. I love this thing, and will give a very in-depth post on Sunday, when we get home (and I am sober). My initial rating is 9.8, and will explain later.
Glad I only had to walk tonight, or I would be writing this from Jail
Anyone who had any doubts about this thing, rest assured, it is by far the best JGC that Jeep has ever produced.
Want to thank Brainstormer again for the company and ride last night. Wish you could have joined us tonight for the fun.
Full review to follow.......

FYI. Dental floss works very well for debadging.

Congrats.
And for the record... up here in Wisconsin, 2 hurricanes is a light breakfast!

Re: 2014 GC "EcoDiesel" OWNERS!!! Review..

I am excited and living vicariously through you guys. I can't wait for my SO to get here next Friday so I can go look at colors and interior then order one from the GB on Saturday or Monday...

My test drive was 2x4 3.0 diesel Limited and it was really nice but I am now planning on the Overland for the air ride suspension and other things that come with it. I hear awesome things about how great the air ride.
Congrats to you guys!
