Re: 2015 Deliveries?

I purchased a new 2014 JGC Limited V6 for my wife in July 2013 and was so impressed by it's performance and ergonomics that I ordered an eco-diesel version for myself on the first day the order book was opened in Aug. 2013. I took delivery of my eco-diesel in Nov. 2013 and it has provided me with 15,000+ satisfying trouble free miles. However I must admit that the V6 provides the same performance and tows my 5000lb. boat trailer well as the eco-diesel but accomplishes the task in a different way...High rpm horsepower rather than low rpm torque grunt. The overall mpg for the V6 has been 22.5 while the eco-diesel has been 28mpg or a difference of +25% while the cost premium of diesel fuel has been around 30%. With the much higher cost of oil changes, fuel filter changes, and DEF charges factored in the diesel makes no economic sense unless you do a lot of heavy towing. I really love both of these vehicles but the $4000+ price premium and much higher maintenance cost are hard to justify.

Yes, I'm still bitter for being strung along with the as yet unfulfilled promise of a '15 diesel Limited. But the fact that the V6 Overland we bought Wednesday is just so damn nice has started to overcome that bitterness. Hopefully this isn't just a honeymoon phase. 300 flawless miles so far (LOL). Only problem so far is it seems to be equipped with a bird $4!t magnet.
Muzhik - ditto. I think no matter which I chose (diesel or gas) I'd have some angst about not choosing the other. But - just like you, I pulled the plug on the diesel and 48 hours later have the Deep Cherry Red Overland in my garage. I was able to swing a decent deal, and thanks to the guys mentioned on the forum I knew what I could buy the lifetime warranty for and the dealer matched - more than $1000 less than he started to ask for. And, due to the lack of any help from the dealer I ordered the Ecodiesel from, went to my other dealer and was treated very well. Now I have to get my deposit back.

Still think the diesel would have been a sweet deal, but since I don't tow, and there are unresolved issues with DEF, CAT etc, I think we're just fine with the gasser. Best of luck to you!

So far I have all of 5 miles on it, bringing it home.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

I cancelled my order on Friday. Dealer will keep the original order when (if) it ever gets built.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

My deposit was transferred to my new V6 order, so no problem. Of course they weren't losing a sale and I would bet that was why it wasn't a problem.

Yes, and I felt a little guilty when they informed me that they cannot cancel that order... but I'm over it

Best of luck to you as well. Each individual has to weigh their options and arrive at their own decision.

One big change of plans for me is that I won't get to do the family vacation next summer (or the summer after) the way I had originally planned. I wanted to rent an airstream (or possibly another travel trailer) and do a good old American road trip with my wife, daughters and dogs camping out in national parks along the way through the Black Hills, Yellowstone, the PNW, down the Cali Coast (Muir Woods, Tahoe, Yosemite) and through Mojave, Grand Canyon, Arches, Zion, and Colorado... I dreamed of hitting some good 4x4 trails along the way.

Now I'll be limited by the V6 towing capacity and have to reevaluate if we can still do this with a travel trailer or will be reduced to finding pet-friendly hotels. Regardless, we're doing the trip. Our kids are at a perfect age, and being a military family we've seen a good amount of the world, but not nearly enough of the homeland. I plan to right that wrong.

Maybe I should have considered the Hemi, but this will be my wife's daily driver and fuel mileage has to be a consideration.

Would be a wonderful trip, and yeah - do it one way or the other. You remind me of a good buddy who bought a motor home, took his kids out of school and spent a year seeing the country. This was when he returned home from 6 1/2 years as a POW in the Hanoi Hilton. Figures it was what saved his family (unlike some other returnees who didn't fare so well.)

If you get near Yosemite, PM me. I'm only about an hour away! I can offer some California hospitality.

I have to disagree about the less interior space. The truck is so much wider inside and the back seats are huge in the Crew Cab version. Of course, you loose the SUV part of things lol. For me, I miss having my truck (2011 F250 Diesel) so I like the larger road presence. If we have to go to the city (SF/LA) then we will drive our regular smaller cars. Anywhere else, doesn't matter to me.

Either way, they are both great vehicles. If Jeep built this thing and we had it right now, I'd be content with it. Just pushing out the build date with a new promise every few weeks isn't cutting it for me after nearly 6 months of waiting anymore.

Today is the day I go pick up my deposit.. Should go OK..

No issues at all. I called ahead and they had a check ready for me when I arrived. Deposited into my bank and it's a done deal.

Now just have to pray that we have no issues with the Ram order... lol.

Still think it'll be funny if it arrives before the Jeep I ordered does.

I cancelled my CRD order and purchased a V-6 from a different dealer who was more helpful than the original. Meanwhile I was receiving some info from a manager at Chrysler who told me that it was illegal for a dealer to keep your deposit. FWIW.

I would simply advise anyone to pass on to their dealer (if they're having a problem getting the deposit back) that they talked to "Chrysler" and they said it was illegal not to return it.
