Re: 2015 Deliveries?

Why would not all of you that have waited forever and want to cancel etc... not just buy a 2014? Are the 2015's that much better? A quick search in the Midwest shows many 2014 CRD on the lots from the lowest trim to the highest.
If you are changing plans, cancelling trips, and postponing dreams... wouldn't a 2014 be good enough? Mine's had a few quirks but over all it has been great, and if I wanted one as bad as some of you, I'd drive whatever distance and go get one tomorrow and stop waiting...

You all may have very good reasons so don't bash me..I'm just asking?

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

For me, personally, it wasn't an option. The DC group buy dealership where I purchased would not entertain a dealer swap. They didn't have what my wife and I wanted in their inventory options-wise or color-wise. Before the '15 order bank re-opened for diesels, we almost bought another forum member's original '14 order that was delayed. It was everything we wanted, but the wrong color. We even test drove it. Unfortunately, some gremlins reared their ugly heads during the test drive (HVAC quit working, ventilated seats didn't work on one side, but did on the other...) so we walked away from it.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

In my case, I'm not in a rush so I'll wait it out... Plus with both my parents and my brother having 2014 CRDs I want a 2015

For what it's worth, the Jeep representative who's working with me continues to say that, yes, a few GC CRDs are being built for the US market, but they aren't being released to the dealers.

I will say that the California Emissions approval for '15 wasn't until October 10 (http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/..._l2_diesel.pdf). Also, there would have been a delay after that before they were likely to actually sell the vehicles until they could satisfy a strange conditional approval relative to AECD EGR #9 that wasn't present in the '14 Calif. ARB approval (http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/..._l2_diesel.pdf)

But... I do have to apologize for misinformation before. While I still can't "search for" or "lookup" the EPA certificate number of EPA's website, Google managed to find it: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/datafiles/FCRXT03.05PV-055.PDF So, since Oct 10 they've had both Federal and California permission to sell EcoDiesel RAM and Jeep GCs.

I think it's just a matter of wanting/hoping to get a new 2015 with all the woes of the 2014 solved. Plus some lingering doubts for my planned usage.
Bottom line I think they're both great choices. Also, when I did a Car Max search a few months ago, absolutely nothing showed up in Deep Cherry Red with the diesel.

You would be buying a vehicle that is already a year old as far as the resale market is concerned. You are not going to get any better of a deal on it. Your taking a lot of extra depreciation right off the bat.

Exactly... And something that car salesman don't seem to ever understand: I want what I want and I'm paying for it. If I wanted a 2014 I would have bought it a year ago. If I wanted a V6, I would have it in my garage right now. If I was going to make compromises on what I really wanted, I would probably buy a different vehicle altogether.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

If you want a JGC Summit CRD there is no 2014 version that offers an interior that isn't dark and mono chromatic. Plus those sound deadening features make a difference for some of us.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

FWIW, on my 9/22 2015 CRD order, I heard directly from a FCA "supply chain manager" that my vehicle will go into frame (ie, start of manufacturing process) on 12/3, and he felt that this was firm.

Given that we're literally a week away from that date, I'm going to hold out. I came close to reopening my mind to Toureags listening to you guys talk on this thread.

I have four:

1) supposedly the DEF and CAT issues have been addressed in the 2015 model
2) we have evidence of an upgrade on hardware in the entertainment/navigation system, i'm holding out that this *might* allow for Apply Carplay and/or Android Auto support (fingers crossed)
3) 2015 model year = less depreciated value than a 2014 driven off the lot
4) it's made exactly to my specifications... haven't been able to find a single vehicle within my region that is built like I want it... if i'm going to own this thing for 10 years, I want it to be perfect

We did test drive Touareg and GC 3 timess each. After evaluating each, we came to conclusion to buy 2015 model GC overland CRD with adv tech and off road packages.
This trim with these options has at least 21 more features than Touareg TDI lux and when you drive it , it feels like that you driving an SUV as oppose to Touareg that feels like you are driving a Toyota Camry.
Our main purpose for buying diesel car was for towing RV trailer. Currently we have a Honda pilot touring 2012, which is pretty reliable car but with not much towing capacity.
We will wait until our factory order is shipped. the estimated ship date for our order is still 12/2/2014 according to its status.

Olivia,

True on the differences...the '15 Treg closes that gap significantly and in some cases (i.e. start stop and lane assist) exceed it. They are both great cars...I'm leaning back towards the VW...their diesel technology has been proven over a much longer period of time.

That is also true. However Toruareg has not been a trouble free car either ,the price for 2015 model with the options that you mentioned will be around $60K.
