Well - how many more poor folks have to have a nightmare like you have before Jeep owns up to this? If Jeep stands behind the vehicle, then they should believe that your experience and that of some others on this forum are isolated and it won't cost them but a few bucks here and there to offer the extended warranty. What a great public relations move it would be!

I hope everyone else on this forum appreciates all the tips and suggestions you've shared based upon your experiences with your Ecodiesel.

I think Jeep is addressing the issue. They are not very open and up front about it though. The TSBs and redesigned Cat should take care of it. I'm a higher mileage driver so I hit the 20k mark sooner than most. That seems to be the magic number for Cat failures. That's 18 to 24 months for the average driver. I think they see the Tsunami coming and they better have the fix ready!

As far as being a beta tester goes. I'm pretty tolerant...as long as I get a rental. I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule and really want to see passenger car and light duty diesels succeed in North America. I knew it might be a rocky road when I ordered mine on Aug 8, 2013 at 8am. I was one of the first in line. So far, it's a very impressive vehicle overall.

Yes - you are tolerant! And thanks for being our beta tester. The reason I think Jeep would benefit from being more open about these issues is to reassure those of us who, like you, believe in the future of light duty diesels, like the features of the GC, but are looking at themselves in the mirror and wondering, "Am I nuts to buy this vehicle knowing that there are "issues" that Jeep is still trying to get a handle on?" Their silence about production delays once they reopened the order banks only allows doubts to fester. Openness NOW would be in their best interests, by far.

Just my opinion.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

I can only imagine how upset all of the folks are that placed orders and don't have the additional info we have here. If I had to rely solely on Jeep and my dealer for updates I would have canceled and bought something else already.

Re: 2015 Deliveries?

For those of us with early 2014 CRDs, this thread is very déjà vu. In 2013, we waited and waited and waited on production... Then, after they built them, our CRDs sat on the factory lots for 60 more days waiting on DEF tanks and emission stickers.

The corporate silence was very frustrating, but it was this forum that helped us through those times. We made friends with many and laughed at our preoccupation with MOTS. I think that production thread still hold forum records. Some forum members were JNAP employees who tried their best to offer hints and understanding. A few of us even had the opportunity to take a tour at JNAP, hoping secretly that we might get to at least see our SFUs. We did not, but the factory tour was a highlight for me.

My 2014 Jeep GC 4x4 EcoDiesel will be one year old tomorrow with 22K miles and estimated 25 mpg fuel average. While I experienced some radio issues early on, my Jeep has been relatively trouble free. It is my first Jeep and the torque/power make it the most impressive vehicle I have ever owned.

Don't sweat the small stuff and use this time to learn even more about the vehicle and the process. And for God's sake DO NOT switch to a 6-cylinder gas version because you will regret it !

Good luck to the newbies and Happy Anniversary to the early beta testers.

Shortly after I ordered my Ecodiesel early last month I needed to request a change which my dealer was able to coordinate thru someone higher up. I received a very nice email from that higher up telling methat he was able to do the change for me. This gentleman is the Supply Chain Manager for my region, so I emailed him this morning to see if he could tell me what was going on. He emailed me back to say that the planned production start date for the EcoDiesels is now the end of November. He sidestepped admitting what had caused the delay and said this was just an educated guess.

Hope this helps!

I have contacted corporate on several occasions and they have always returned my calls and followed up when they pledged to do so. Last week they called me after an email 90 days ago, the news was not what I wanted to hear (map updates further delayed), but they did call. If one is professional and reasonable, corporate will generally respond in kind and offer conciliatory offers to make amends.

Good luck and happy waiting.

Dammit! I was afraid 11 days from today was too good to be true
More time to sock away down payment money, I suppose.

Brainstormer, did MOTS "projected delivery" dates slip once they were projected on the '14s, or did they just come and go with no action?

I do remember reading that 100+ page-long thread (I think it was around 50 pages long when I joined) and feeling your pain. I hoped against hope that I wouldn't be in your shoes a year later. And yet here we are...

The production schedule for a specific vehicle is set when parts are available, not before. Production takes only one day, so there is not much room for movement. With major issues like engine availability, the dates can come and go, but MOTS eventually updates.

After production, things are fairly accurate from MOTS, especially when the vehicle moves to shipment staging. The problem in 2013 was the hold after production of ALL CRDs, so they simply stacked up in lots. Once DEF tanks and other hold issues were corrected, the vehicles moved quickly thereafter. That was a fun day to watch the MOTS schedule. Since the hold for engines is prior to production, the release will not be so dramatic.

In Sep/Oct 2013, Chrysler was holding $750MM in inventory between the GC CRDs and tens of thousands of the new Cherokees. There was no way the hold was trivial to FCA, it had to be a financial hardship. Under the circumstances, I think they did what they had to do.

Good luck...

Yep, mine turned a year old on the 6th...and my XM quit working the next morning...LOL.

The "Great GC CRD wait of 2013" was amazing....and well worth it, looking back. I enjoyed the wait with the help of all my forums friends here. Don't know what I would have done otherwise.

I gained valuable inside knowledge of all the JNAP lot names, train shipping routes, schedules, and transit times. I also know the flow of the various production stages and how MOTS/VOTS updates...and doesnt. I can interpret the status codes In MOTS too...LOL! We had some serious analytical horsepower with all the idle minds put together!

All you guys waiting for your 2015's, relax and enjoy. Subscribe to Premium membership here so you can track everything and there will be plenty to do until delivery.
