Not a diesel, no. There's one member on the forum who managed to get an order in back in June before FC slammed the door in the order bank. His(/her?) order went to D1 status (allegedly firm production date slated) at the end of June.

The order bank re-opened on 8 September (though it seems like it was late in the day, because I'm the earliest order I know of and my order date is 9 September). So far, the rest of us that have '15 diesels on order haven't made it to D1 status yet. At last check, production is supposed to start again in "mid-October," which in my mind is anytime between Friday and the 20th. I would hope to see D1 any day now.

Nonetheless, I still will consider myself lucky to see the vehicle before Thanksgiving.

DC group buy dealership won't do a dealer swap. If I'm paying $40K plus, I'm getting exactly what I want. Besides, I've waited this long...

And all the '14's are plagued with crappy transmissions, easy-clog particulate filters, piss-poor DEF injectors...
:slapfight:

I'll be here in the corner in my Nomex suit :D

To get it the way I want it I would have to drive to Georgia to get a 14 and that one is an early build that has been sitting there for a year. Not a fan of a vehicle just sitting there that long. If I'm paying this much for something it has to be exactly what I want. I don't need it till Christmas anyways. Sold my JKU a couple months ago and have just been driving my company truck.

Skittle Farting Unicorn. The mythical creature some of us waited for over a year for before it finally became a reality - a 2014 JGC Ecodiesel.

Can someone maybe explain something to me.

I originally ordered a petrol JGC about a month ago and week or so later changed my order to the diesel model if they could get one. Dealer got back to me and said the a Diesel is coming in same time and I can have it.

Just picked it up on the weekend (this is in Brisbane, Australia) and the dealer says its a MY15 model (has it on the invoice also) but reading this thread people seem to think they havn't even built one yet or are you talking about an entirely different car? I havn't even looked at the plate or anything where abouts can I find it on the car or what differences does the 15 supposed to have?

Rep didnt seem to know apart from apparently having DAB digital radio on the Uconnect which mine has. Im new to the Jeep brand though just having moved over after being fed up of my land rover so I really dont know about the car yet to be honest.

I saw that as well. I'm not sure I buy it if in the same thread MOTS is projecting a delivery date of 18 November for my SFU - yet according to the info that member received production won't start until 10 November. While it's entirely possible, 8 days from production to delivery seems pretty fast. Since JNAP hasn't built a diesel in awhile, I'm OK if my diesel spends a couple of days in quality control before it leaves the plant. Though if you believe several of the stories posted here, QC isn't always up to snuff...

fingers crossed!

Upon further investigation, though, the timeline could work out based on the example below:

Vehicle Delivered to Dealer 10/14/2014 10:30 AM EDT

I ordered from the DC group buy dealership, so I would expect my SFU to follow a similar route to the Jessup, MD rail yard where it will sit a few days before being trucked to the dealer.

Yeah, I was skeptical of the answer myself and inclined by nature to agree that they are cannibalizing the engine supply for the pickups. They insisted during my conversation that's not the case and that it's paperwork surrounding an engine/emissions change but wouldn't say what.

I'm inclined to believe them because they gain little by lying and risk a lot.

Plus, go over to mopar.com and look at parts - in the left nav for 2014's you'll see 3.0L Turbo Diesel listed as an engine. For 2015 they don't list the engine. Maybe I'm searching wrong? (2014: Official Mopar 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Parts, Accessories & Service ; 2015: Official Mopar 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Parts, Accessories & Service).

They do list emissions control for both years. (half-way down). The 2015 has a few new parts (or what appear to be new parts) including 68145554AF (a $390 skid plate???)

Not sure why the engine isn't shown, but I have to imagine there's a good reason - like something is changing. Or because they aren't allowed to sell it because they don't have a cert for 2015s.

Don't forget, officially, the RAM's are 2014s vs 2015s and Jeep only has an EPA certificate (as far as I can tell) for 2014 models.

Go to: Advanced Search | Document Index System | US EPA and do a search with "Industry" being "Light-Duty Vehicles and Trucks", model year 2015, and keyword Chrysler. You won't find a result for the 3.0L EcoDiesel. Repeat the search for model year 2014 and you'll find the certificate. The cert allows them to produce model year 2014s through end of this calendar year. They added the RAM to the Grand Cherokee MY 2014 certificate (http://iaspub.epa.gov/otaqpub/display_file.jsp?docid=31870&flag=1) on 1/24/2014.

So long story short: right now they are NOT allowed by law to sell 2015 Diesels in the US. They *may* sell 2014s. But NOT 2015s. Go figure! I'm assuming they are getting the approvals right now and their application is under seal or something. That's likely why the dates have slipped. As I understand it, even minor tweaks to the system require recertification. I can only hope they are in the clear to start Nov 10.
